My friends and I went to this club a few weeks ago and had a really good time. Going clubbing again after a LONG time is almost like going clubbing for the first time. First off: we had yet to visit this club since it opened and two we didn’t know what to expect. We got there early by the advice of another friend and were able to get in pretty quickly. As soon as we got up to crazybox it was kinda empty and had some interesting music playing. It was like remix alternative music yet danceable. Later a girl DJ came on and she ROCKED! We finally got our groove on and were having a good time and though, hey we need a drink. Only to find out the bartenders mix their own drinks and no hello kitties. Whaaa?! It’s all good whatever he made us was sweet(a little too sweet for my taste) yet still delicious… and pricey. Another great thing about this place is that it’s open til 4am. People started getting sloppy drunk so us girls were over it and went downstairs and hungout in the lounge. That was relaxing and fun! It’s sad that this club closed =(I hope a new club opens again, it might very well have a different vibe, yet hopefully it’s still fun, like Crazybox =) Unilocal 365 Challenge– 39⁄365

I can understand all the bad reviews… but I just happen to go at the right time and have the right guy at the door. 1) I was not on the list 2) The line wasn’t bad at all… waited less than 10 minutes tops! …and I still got in and had a blast! I enjoyed the diversity of the crowd, the music(although at some points I was like… how do I dance to this!!), and the atmosphere. I’ve been out of the clubbing scene for a while so I don’t know if I’ll go back… but I wouldn’t mind! Unilocal 365 Challenge #21/365

This place is a small cube. Unlike other places, this place seems like it might be a club in Vegas. The drink prices are almost the same as in Vegas too. I bought an AMF, couple shots of Patron, and a drink called Blueberry Sour Balls? Specialty drinks like the AMF and Sour Balls are $ 14. A shot of Patron and a Sex on the Beach is only $ 9 each. So here are a few of the cool things everyone should know: 1) There’s no minimum charge on your card! Woohoo. 2) Valet at the Edition is complimentary with validation, according to the valet. I didn’t get to the hotel til almost midnight, so they only had room for hotel guests. 3) Parking across the street by Red Lobster is $ 6 for 10 hours, prepaid. 4) If you are on the guest list, the guest list doesn’t close at a certain time like at other places. Pretty cool place. If only the drinks were a little cheaper or I knew someone who could put me on the guest list… I hope this review helps.

Crazy Box is currently one of «the» hot spots to be seen at. It is located at the Edition Hotel in Waikiki with the age range about mid 20s-mid 30s which is a nice mix. There is valet parking and some parking across the street, but like most clubs, it’s just easier to taxi it. I believe you«absolutely» need to be on the guest list, as we saw a huge group leaving the front of the line looking Pissed. So how did I get on the guest list? I’m not sure haha. Apparently one of our friends just emailed them that day, so I guess it’s not that hard to get on it, its just imperative to plan ahead, however for people in Hawaii making a decision that far ahead in the day can be a challenge haha. This was my second time at Crazy Box and well, it is a bit smaller than what I remember. You go up the stairs and to your right is a three tiered seating area, to the front is the dance floor and a VIP area, and to the left is the bar and bathrooms and that’s about it… The ceiling has an interesting décor made out of light bulbs that is pretty entertaining for a few minutes, but yeah that’s about it… Drinks are expensive, $ 7 for a Bud Light, so I can’t imagine how much a bottle is. Granted I did not get bottle service(and can’t see the reason to in Hawaii) I was quite shocked when I saw some people buy bottles. These bottle owners did not get their own seating area, it just got tossed on the seats where other people are either sitting or dancing and they had to protect it from people thieving it or knocking the bottle over. Music was okay. The first time I went, there was more«club/dance» music. This time it was a mix of more recognizable«top 100» music standard at most clubs. So «eh», I guess in this department. Oh, warning, if you dance or walk on the seating area, it can become very slippery. No joke, there were about six people that I saw slip on the seating area, you’ve been warned! Would I go back? The club is not that impressive, it’s small, has expensive drinks, and can be a health hazard if you’re on the steps, but I would go back. Why? Because Crazy Box and Ginza are«the» places to be, so I would go back… until the next happening spot opens up.

Had to give this place 4 stars – I’m a fan! YES, drinks are overpriced. That being said, I’ve come to the realization that being straight is expensive!!! But I loved the atmosphere as a whole. It’s a good mix of the right people and the music they play is off the hook! No dress code either which is nice. Décor is very chic, and the bathrooms are really nice! I think this place gives Honolulu reason to contend with other big cities in the night life scene. If you haven’t been to Crazybox, definitely check it out! Just make sure you bring your entire paycheck with you! TOTALSPENT: $ 6 Parking across the street + $ 40(3 drinks incl. gratuity) = $ 46** **I think there’s a cover too, but I didn’t have to pay it because of connections or something…

Crazy Box has to be one of the lamest clubs in Hawaii. If you don’t believe me, read Kanoe’s review below mine. Crazy Box tries to act Vegas or LA but fails miserably, because this is Hawaii, not Vegas, and not LA. Maybe if it was some really posh club, then I could possibly forgive the attitude. But Crazy Box is aptly named because it is a Box and you would be Crazy to wait in line to get in. In fact, this place should be called Sh! t Box, in my opinion. The bouncers are complete douches. They spit attitude at you like nobody’s business, even though they barely graduated from high school and make $ 5 an hour. Expect to wait in line ridiculously long even though you are the only one actually standing in line. Once inside, be prepared to be dazzled by the Box-like motif. It’s really quite stellar how they made it look exactly like a Box. Stick to the Lobby Bar, which is infinitely cooler.

I love the Nightlife scene, so I was so excited when The Edition hotel opened last year. Crazybox…Is definitely the new hot spot in Honolulu. A place to be and be seen! The VIP section is the way to go, but you do have to purchase bottle service. Bottle service prices are about the same as any club around town. A doorman guards the entrance to the VIP section. You must show your stamp to pass this guy. A couple of weeks ago, I had to escort my friend outside to catch a taxi. I specifically asked the door ppl if there would be a problem getting back in. They gave me a stamp and said no. When I walked back to the door, they completely ignored me and let me stand there looking stupid. Mind you, my friends had bought bottles so we were in the VIP section. The thought of spending $ 300/bottle and being treated like this made me so upset. Who are these ppl working the front. This is Hawaii, not Vegas or LA! So I had my bday party here last week. Getting in was a chore and I was irritated that I had to stand in the rain. The Lobby Bar entrance was inly for hotel guests. Everyone else, outside entrance. Once we were in, I was ready to party. I think only six ppl/bottle are allowed in the VIP section, and the guard was strict about that. Clipboard in hand. I tried to get one friend in and was rejected. We were gonna bring in my bday cake but was told no food. Rejected again. I had a great time, though. Our waitress was nice. I do like the music. And the bathrooms are beautiful. But something is missing here… Maybe lack of concern for it’s patrons? People spend a lot of money here. Too many rules, lack of concern by staff. Best to stick to the Lobby Bar…

I’ve been to Crazybox a few times and every experience was different. I had a lot of fun every time I went except the last time(last Saturday). I don’t even know what the deal is with the guest list because I’ve e-mailed them two times before a night out and never got a reply. Let me start out with the pros, though, because no one likes a shitty review right of the bat. The club itself reminds me of mainland clubs. The décor is classy and fun, although tiny, it’s…hmm… I guess the right word is cozy? If you hate crowded dance floors and having to shout to hear your friends then the place is not for you. Me, personally — I love that atmosphere. The music has always been good and it’s not that much of struggle to get to the bar if you’re used to crowded bars/clubs. Just gotta choose the right bartender! I would definitely take my visiting friends here if I had a table/was on the guestlist! Now, cons. Most of the times I’ve gone, I went with mostly all girls and 1 or two boys so we had no problems getting in through the side door inside Lobby Bar. But last Saturday, we were trying to get in with a huge group for a birthday party. First, the girl at the door told us she could let half of the group in and the other half later. So, I told my girlfriends to go in and I’d wait with my boyfriend and his friends. Later came and went without even being ACKNOWLEDGED. Another girl came to the side door with a list, telling us there was no chance we could get in through the door and to try our luck at the other door. I was annoyed, to say the least, with my friends upstairs texting me from upstairs and asking what the problem was. We went to the front, stood in line for an hour while we were ignored. Needless to say, I will never be coming back here with a big group of friends. I was sorely disappointed in Crazybox this weekend and hope they get their stuff together before they have to close down like every other good club in Hawaii.

Overrated. I was already drunk when I got there, and I still got irritated. Usually loud music and a bunch of people is my kind of scene, but this was just over the top — i’ve never seen so many people throw up on one dance floor. In addition to that, the drinks are redonk expensive, and you have to wait forever just to get a drink. The line is usually long, but we get in on the guest list the last time I went. The bathrooms are amazing, and that’s definitely a plus. And the décor is nice, and it’s pretty innovative if I do say so myself.

You’re retarded if you think this place is like a Vegas club. Just because the door people act like it’s an exclusive Vegas club doesn’t mean it is. Luckily I didn’t have to wait too long since my friend knew someone there. Doesn’t change the fact that the club was only 20% occupied and they were making people wait. Geez at least wait till the club is 50% occupied so people don’t feel like morons for waiting half and hour or more to get into an empty club. Once inside, you’ll see how small this place is. Probably the smallest club in Hawaii. The drinks are also overpriced and they only have one bar. What«Vegas» style club has one bar? lol The«VIP» area is a joke, super small and crowded. The wow factor in this club is sadly the bathrooms. Bottom line: Not worth your time. Check out The Villa instead. It’s a way better«new» club.

Went here for the first time on Saturday. Being that I don’t go out to «clubs» that much(I’m more of a DJ bar/dive bar gal) but so far this is the best dance club I’ve been too here in HI. Hands down better than Pearl in my opinion. I had a blast with the big group of friends that I met up with. My disclaimer: Alcohol buffers and makes every situation tolerable and fun. lol. Here’s my recap: Pros: –Free admission with Guest List, no limit to people either(I think) –Nice ladies room –Good music(although they could of put in a little bit more hip-hop in the rotation, but the 3 they mashed up was fun) –Nice mix of people, not too crowded. –Strong A/C! Blowing nice and strong all night. HATE places that have poor circulation/air con. –Strong drinks –Location is non-descript and tucked away inside Edition so that alone controls who and what wanders in that night. Cons: –Small –Décor, it’s not bad per se, but very simple and sparse. It’s just a place to come and dance, not sit and watch. –Not many tables for bottle service –No wheres to sit really, limited chairs –Expensive drinks(but strong), this is where they make up for free admission. –The wait outside the club/the lines. Not a fan, place wasn’t even full yet. –Semi-friendly staff/promotors. They smile only after they confirm you’re on the list or VIP. –LOUD *ss music! Had to leave after 2.5 hours of being in there. All of our ears were ringing and kept saying«What???» to each other out on the street. lol. Tips: 1) Make sure that you get on the guest list BEFORE you plan to go and confirm that you’re on that list. Hella people got turned away at the door. You will NOT get in if you’re not on the list. you can’t just go wandering off the street. Visit the hotel website for Crazy Box reservations. 2) Club Opens at 10:30p and they stop letting in people when they hit 200 folks, so come early to avoid waiting forever outside. 3) If you’re not trying to spend your entire pay check at Edition/Crazybox, wonder across the street to the Charthouse or Harbor Pub & Pizza for pre or post dancing drinks and grub.

I first went here for a friend’s birthday party… I actually don’t really see myself going back here many more times in the future.(Unless for a birthday or special event.) If you’re claustrophobic, this crazy box is not for you. There’s only one bar. But the bartenders are great; quick and attentive service! The back area for parties is really small. And the number of people allowed back there(for each table/party) is limited. Restrooms are very important to me when I’m drinking and when I’m at any club, bar, or lounge. Thankfully, the Crazybox restrooms are really nice! :)

I came here because one of my friends wanted to check this place out. I heard it’s a club that strives to be like Vegas style clubs, with nice décor, steep drinks and supposedly hot people! I was definitely skeptical because for some reason, all the clubs here in Hawaii claim to mimic Vegas… but nothing ever come even close! We got here around 11 and there wasn’t any line. We were on guest list and walked on through without waiting. I heard that if you’re not on the list, it’s pretty much impossible to get in. When I got inside, I noticed that it was just a room with 1 bar and these stadium seating type stairs, where people were sitting. Theres literally no «wow» factor about this place. It’s all white inside and the ceiling has a cool lightbulb décor, but nothing spectacular. The bar is small with 2 – 3 bartenders. There are small bottle service tables in the back, which were all really close together and lack enough seating or table space for drinks. Drinks were expensive for hawaii standards, so i wonder how long they’ll be able to charge that much around here. The bathrooms are pretty nice however, and if anyone knows how a girl judges a club, it’s mostly on how nice the restrooms are! Most of the crowd here seems to be the young working type. It definitely got really crowded around 12. As I left around 130, there was a huge line of people waiting to get in so I wonder if it’s a place people hit up after other places(I thought it closed at 2). Not sure how much cover is but I doubt I’ll come back here if I have to pay. Definitely nothing special and not even close to the hype I’ve heard.

Every attempt I try to go here seems to fail. In all honesty, I’ve never even been inside because of the difficulties. Because I’m a concierge at their neighboring hotel, I already KNOW you have to email them to get on the guest list, which is why we emailed them TWICE to make sure. Still, we show up and we’re NOT on the guest list. I’m all about keeping standards, but there’s a huge difference between keeping it classy and being snobby. I am NEVER sending any of my guests here. I suggest just hanging out at the Lobby Bar if anything. I have already heard countless reviews from friends and hotel guests. I hear the atmosphere is nice, but lacking in space. Good music, but pricey drinks. After the novelty of it dies down, they will probably lose the local crowd. I don’t think there’s enough tourists to keep this place alive. My bold prediction: CrazyBox doesn’t survive to see 2012.

Came here the week after it was opened at the Edition Hotel in Waikiki for a friends bottle service birthday party! This place is ehhhh ohhkay nothing crazy about it. It literally is a BOX with concrete surrounding you. it’s fairly small with only one side of the room to sit(besides the VP& bottle service area). Only thing good is that it’s free entrance BUT the drinks are sooo ridiculously high! we paid 50 bucks for 4 drinks! I also like the roof because it was surrounded with glass like bubble thing, which kinda reminded me of Aria in LV. The music is really good tho!

At first my friends and I thought this place was called GRAVYBOX and we had this whole long joke saying how they were gonna serve us gravy and there was a buffet with different types of gravy. and yeah. ANYWAY, we got in by some connection my friends had to the guest list(apparently it’s difficult to get in?) and no cover charge! Yipee! First thing you notice is the ceiling. My friend said it reminded him of Lady Gaga’s bubble dress. Prepare to stare at the ceiling for a good 5 mins. But holy shinkey they charge drinks like CRAZY. I think on average it was $ 8 for a beer? At first I was like, no way. I’m not paying that. Then I realized I was sober and I couldn’t really handle the craziness of the crazybox like that… so I was desperate and ended up paying –_-. For 2 Kirins and 2 shots of cheap tequila it came out to $ 32 bucks. The music was interesting… not really my cup of tea. Lots of techno, dubstep but I guess the more drunk you are the more you’ll enjoy it. I think the DJ played the same song twice? There’s stairs on the side for people to sit on which reminds me of bleachers in high school for some reason… keep in mind this is dangerous for drunk people because they tend to fall on these stairs… Advice…pre-game before you get gravy in the gravybox.

On Friday night with some gals and her brother and Mr. Bo of Uncle Bo’s himself, gave me a rang to bar hop like it was 1969! Being a grandpa I really wanted to stay home and catch up with my DVR, but when duty calls to drink, that takes a back seat. I’m going to assume there are two entrances to the club from what I deduced the drunken Friday night. As we pulled into valet, the outside of the Edition was already jam packed with people. For this review and for me not to get lost, I’ll call that the«regular» entrance. Then once you get into the Edition lobby and walk towards the back where the bar is, there’s another entrance which I’ll call the«If you know people you cut the line» entrance. Well, I like the latter! If you’re drunk, I’ll give you a heads up, find someone to carry you because it’s a lot of stairs. The music was good, people were hum drum. Make sure you got money because shots are like 10 dollars! I think I spent $ 40.00 because Bo got most of our shots but be prepared to donate! Like KI H put it, not to be so blunt with this but I did expect Crazybox to cater to a specific group; the educated socialites who like to «whip their hurr» once in a while. But I did dock it a star because of all the MaiTai people there.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this scathing review. Had I written it a month or two ago I would have given Crazybox 5 Stars. Today it is a shadow of its former self. Before it used to be a more exclusive venue that catered to the hip, cool and slightly off from the norm crowd. In otherwords, not the typical«club scene/.» This was fantastic! Great music, fun people and best of all not super crowded. Last night we went there again and it was the complete opposite. The word is out: Crazybox is fun and now all the people that you wanted to avoid are there. Mokes, punk locals, and bitchy girls who think they’re all that. It feels like Mai Tai or Pipeline. Yes, it’s that bad. Their«No Dress Code» policy, which was intended for you to be able to express your STYLE in any way you wished, has become abused and turned into T-shirt, Slippers and Shorts. We’re at the club, not the beach people! From people cutting in line, to girls reaching over your shoulder waving their hands in the manager’s face screaming«We’re on the list!!! WEAREONTHEGUESTLIST!!!» Crazybox has lowered their standards to below acceptable for what I would have hoped would be an exclusive, upscale venue. Not only that, but their bottle /table service has taken a turn for the worse as well. They have a separate VIP area with couches, but these days they over book the area and you end up sharing the tables with another party next to you. Couch space is slim to none. it has come to the point where they are now seating people OUTSIDE of the VIP area in the general seating area and calling it VIP and eliminating any seating area for others. I have never seen a club go from one extreme to the other so quickly. If Crazybox wants any hope to succeed they need to return to their original ethos: Exclusivity, Style and Service. The way I see it, it will become Pipeline soon enough.

I really want to give this place four stars, but there just seems something lacking here! First off, to get into the club you have to email the hotel to get on the guest list. Not sure if you just show up and stand in line will work? To be on the safe side, just email to the following: I made a reservation for a group of friends and received a response within 15 minutes. So far so good. We all showed up at around 1130pm. There was no line and once we got into the club, it was not very crowded. It was a Thursday night and it appeared people were enjoying themselves. The first thing I noticed was the club was plain. Lot’s of concrete and no real design! I mean, I have been to other clubs that had the same idea, like the W Hotel Clubs in NYC, LA, New Orleans and San Francisco, they all had some kind of design to their hip club. This one was just plain. Like they forgot to complete it before it opened. As for the bar area, it is nice. Once you turn around from the bar and look at the other wall with its steps that I guess is meant for sitting and the set-up of bottle service with candles, it just lacked a lot. Something so simple as backlighting or even a light design would have enhanced the area. Oh, and through in some pillows or something! There is a sitting area on the far end of the club but I am sure that is just for VIP or table service. It looked nice, but silver couches in a plain concrete building was generic. The bartenders were all attentive and made good drinks. No complaints there. Crazy Box has one of the best sound systems I have not heard in a long time. The DJ was spinning some good tunes and made for a festive atmosphere. We left the club around 130am and it was much more crowded and there was people actually waiting to get inside. Overall, I like the place but the design needs work

They encourage people to dress with their own personal style. i.e. NODRESSCODEJUSTBEYOU Some people will understand this, others will not. For me, it’s why I am here pretty much every weekend. The club might be «small» but it holds the exact amount of people I want to be in a room with.
