Excellent spot. Fresh food, we had the Falafel Tuna sandwich, Greek fries and Garlic Shrimp salad. Very nice. Service was great as well. Nice music and ambiance. We’ll be back.

Let me state for the record that I heart Greek food, just not from here. We were lazy in Waikiki and thought bc it’s close we would try it. The first sign we were in a junk place was that there was only one table. But somehow we didn’t notice that. The server was so nice! I felt 100% bad for him. The wine was old and stale. :gasp: I got the humm

Aloha my name is Ely , Fat Greek was amazing! Great service, and delicious food! I tried the Mediterranean salmon and it was awesome! It come with a side of salad and the dressing was great! And the salmon … It melted in my mouth! And I also tried the gyro and it was also amazing! Great flavorful food. Highly recommend!

Not commenting on how authentic the food is– I would not know. But! The food is DELICIOUS! I think the other big draw about this place is the ambiance. GREAT place for a date. I LOVED it.

Lunch was pricey but tastey. I would only go back if there was no where else to go. Soup and Lunch salad with Gyro meat. It was very good but very expensive. The location is a little sketchy too.

Not a bad place. I had the chicken special. CHICKENALEXANDER — $ 14.95 Chicken simmered with Mediterranean spices and vegetables. Served with Basmati rice and house salad. It was good. I would go back.

$ 10 for a tiny pita filled with a few eensy peices of ‘gyro meat’ and some sort of sad excuse for a salad that consisted of some iceberg and minimal tomatoes with two teeny olives. Horribly unimpressed. We also ordered an ‘appetizer’ of hummus which, presumably by now, was two sparse spoonfuls with a lemon wedge in between for $ 8. Absolutely ridiculous. We spent $ 30 on enough food to serve as a silly appetizer– we’re now about to order a pizza to make up for it. Money. Wasted.

Completely unimpressed Am I just that much of a food snob, that I am not raving about anything this place offered… We were in town for a week and were in dire need to get away from chain restaurants –we noticed Fat Greek across the way from where we stayed and saw a glimmer of hope, yet that little light of mine… sure did not shine much longer… Knowing, enjoying and appreciating good greek/lebanese/arabic food is something you easily aquire while living in Portland –living in a land where quality food is what porn is to others… Lets see 8 $ for a dollop of baba ghanoush and Hummus — and I literally mean a dollop, not to be confused with a scoop, or a serving, but rather something smaller then the size of a cake pop. Charging 8 dollars for that is just too much, are chickpeas and eggplant hard to come by… and if so does a customer deserve to pay that much for a small scoop of each, what if some did like it, the serving was not even enough to spread across a pita… Tabouli salad… was it too much to ask for an actual tabouli salad… where was the parsley, I sure noticed all that Bulgar wheat but was raking through it for the green stuff –the PARSLEY and I do not mean the huge bed of lettuce that this was on top of. was that what the bed of salad for, to make up for the parsley??? AIN’T NOBODYGOTTIMEFORTHAT! The gyro. when did dry compacted pieces of ground meat simply placed into a pita justify a gyro? … was I supposed to put the tabouli salad in the gyro and where were the the instructions that said so. I really hate to believe this is how it all went down, I take pride in looking up Unilocal reviews and eating at a great local spot but this place made me feel completely confused and ripped off. what gives??? Thankful we ordered our food to-go, it’s embarrassing enough to sit through a meal and not be happy, at least being able to ask for adjustments and additions, but it goes a whole different route when you wait, get back to your room, with excitement to chow down on some greek grub and then you are let down and wind up upset you have no way to fix all the errors…

I have lived in the neighborhood for over 6 months now, and I’m sorry that I’ve just discovered this place! I have had 3 experiences here, and all have been top-notch. The first time, I was working nearby and picked up a flyer from a marketer on the street. I called in and spoke with Jordan, and ordered an appetizer sampler as my lunch. He called me when it was ready so I could save time and was really nice. The sampler was pretty pricey, but there was a lot of food and different selections to try. HUGE block of feta… yum! My first dine-in was a date with my boyfriend: hummus appetizer is off the charts! BEST hidden secret: the HOMEMADEHOTSAUCE! Ask for this if you don’t order the hummus. We put it on everything! I ordered fish souvlaki since they had my favorite fish, opah. Delicious! My boyfriend had the traditional gyro and loved it. Both came with a small greek salad on the plate. A third visit was with a friend, and we ordered exactly the same app and meals as above, and she was crazy about the hot sauce, too! Not kidding around here, people. I’m going back for more of this stuff. She also ordered the baklava for dessert, which I’m not a fan of anyway, but she said it was really good here. All in all, I’ll recommend this place to my friends as well as any tourist who asks. I’ll be back again soon!

Stopped in after a day in the sun with some friends. We have eaten at another location and expected about the same thing. However, we were surprised to say that it was a completely different experience. First off, the one in town did not have waiter service and was limited on libation. This one had Ouzo! It is a tad more expensive though and that is the trade off. The menu was a little more robust than the other location too. It seems like they are different restaurants with the same name. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the service was good. Our entrees did take some time to prepare but we were with friends and that did not really become an issue.

A friend had recommended this place, I was let down at how mediocre the food was at Fat Greek. I had ordered the kebab special… for $ 15.95, it was not worth it. I got one skewer with a very stingy amount of lamb over basmati rice that was flavorless. I would not eat here again.

Ok, let me start off by saying this is the first review I have ever posted but the food was that bad. The restaurant and staff were fine but the food was terrible. My wife had the falafel and I had the shawerma and both were dry and bland. There are much better restaurants in Waikiki so if your staying at the Hilton it is definitely worth it to walk a little further.

Right around the corner from the Hilton Waikiki, this is a cute little place on the second floor of a little building on Ala Moana Blvd. it doesn’t have too many seats, but it is also quite small, so you might find the seating a bit tight. Our service was island-speed, but friendly and pleasant enough overall. We found the food to be better than we were expecting, but nothing jaw-dropping. The Greek salad was a good portion, and the lemon-chicken soup was tasty, but could have used a bit more rice. We also tried one of their nightly specials, the name of which I have forgotten unfortunately. It was more or less a thick lamb stew with cinnamon over elbows, and not only was it tasty, but it was HUGE. I was quite hungry, and I still don’t think I ate even half of it. This wasn’t the best food we had on Oahu, but it was decent enough, and close to the hotel.

My favorite Fat Greek of them all. Mostly bc it’s a hop skip and jump away from the beach in Waikiki. Quick tip: if you happen to drive here they have free validation at the former Edition hotel(now The Modern) valet. Otherwise, behind the hotel at the harbor theres paid parking at just $ 1/hr. Also, you can get a prime view and enjoy the fireworks from the harbor if you happen to go on a Friday night at around 8pm. Favorite dishes are: –Royal and Kings platter: one is a carnivorous feast while the other is a little bit of everything. Only get them if you’re really hungry and with a few friends. –Can’t go wrong with any of the gyros, for anyone who isn’t very into red meat the tuna special is a must. Different from tuna salad that’s loaded with mayo, this is a Mediterranean recipe dressed with lemon juice and capers. So bomb. –The mussels are hands down some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. They’re loaded with ginger, lemon juice, and capers.(I love capers)

If you’re ALREADY in the area, not a bad place to get Greek food. I happened to find this place after cheering friends on at the Waikiki Roughwater, which finished at the Hilton Hawaiian Village pier this past weekend. PARKING: Absolutely NONE. I promise. LOCATION: On makai(ocean) side of Ala Moana Blvd, across from the Discovery Bay towers, right before you hit Kobe Steakhouse, this place sits on the second floor of this building: FOOD: The food itself was not bad, and the prices were actually almost the same as other places, or just a tad bit higher. I think I prefer the Fat Greek on Waialae Avenue over this location. GYROSSALAD: $ 11.95 They gave me a whopping FOUR small pieces of gyro meat. The inner carnivore in me was not happy with the 4 pieces.(At Greek Marina and Greek Corner, they give me at least 15 pieces of gyro meat on my salad for the same price, just saying.) But a mighty good salad, and the dressing was good. SCHWARMA $ 10 Um…this beef/lamb patty does not come close to the schwarma at Olive Tree Café, but if you’ve never had one there, then this one is probably pretty good. DELIVERYSERVICE: At this Waikiki location, they go through Aloha 2 Go delivery service(591-TOGO, 591‑8646). If you want food from Fat Greek on Waialae Avenue, they go through Room Service in Paradise(941-DINE, 941‑3463).

The food here is amazing! Tuna special, the Fish(mahi mahi) Shawarma, and the Mussels were ALL finger-lickin’ good! And not to mention, healthy too. The only server/host/owner guy that was here didn’t seem too friendly, but he’s actually a pretty funny guy. Check this place out! The prices are reasonable and food is great!

I am an all time fan of the location at Waialae area. I’m sorry I can’t say the same for this one. I’m not sure if the chefs were trained properly, but our dishes were just mediocre. My husband ordered the salmon special. They left out the key ingredient, which was the salsa on top and we had to ask them to add it to the meal. The salmon was on the smaller side and I’m not sure if they have a standard measurement. My salad is usually what I look forward to, aside from the gyros. Pieces of the lettuce were not crisp so it just threw off the flavor and my mood. I never left the Fat Greek so disappointed. Same company or not, I cannot return to this location. Maybe we came on a bad night? They serve alcohol here and I have no idea where people park their cars because we walked to this location. The ambiance is nice, but overall I still prefer the one on Waialae. The service was good and the place was empty, so we had all the attention and that merit the 3 stars.

Can you say OMG… The Fat Greek Waikiki is amazing. From the atmosphere to the food to the service. Its a nice clean location in lovely Waikiki. We started with some lovely starters. The Humas was great. I’m not much of a Humas fan but The Fat Greeks in Waikiki was something special. After our starters came the main course and the Papa’s Special sure was something special. Great amount of food including a Greek salad which had a lovely dressing to pair with it. For now it’s BYOB which is always nice and if you forget you can always run downstairs to grab some good beers or some wine. The service was amazing. Our server was very nice and made it seem like we knew him very well as if we were regulars of the restaurant. Bottom line… Get yourself, your friends & your family to The Fat Greek Today.

If you are in the Waikiki area, you should check out this new place. It’s an easy walk… on Ala Moana Blvd, upstairs, next to Kobe Steakhouse. It gets you away from the crazy crowds on the main strip, a definite plus! I’ve been here twice so far, and both times enjoyed the tasty food… fresh ingredients and also super healthy! Favs: dolmades, hummus, and spanokopita. Waiters were nice and helpful. The atmosphere is clean and inviting. We didn’t feel rushed, which is always good… will visit again for sure!
