Imagine me rubbing my thumb and forefinger together, demonstrating, «Thiiiiiiiiis is how much extra time I have as a mother of 3 who works full time.»(Clue: next to none.) Now imagine me grabbing the loose stomach of my three-peat pregnancy performance and explaining, «Thiiiiiiis is where I need to tighten up.» And now, with arms spread wide open, «Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis is how much I want to make more cool mom friends!» After nine months of CrossFit, I had finally lost all the baby weight I gained(man, it takes so much longer to lose with each child!) and was the strongest I’ve ever been in my life, high school athlete days included. The only problem was the stubborn round shape my stomach seemed determined to hold on to. Like the ghost of pregnancy past, I had abs of steel from thousands and thousands of sit-ups and other core exercises, but you couldn’t tell beneath its suspiciously postpartum-looking camouflage. I later learned that all the sit-ups in the world aren’t going to help flatten your post-baby stomach, around the time I heard about Takara’s Stroller Strides classes. I warned her that I like my exercise«hard core,» and with my limited time available, need to make it count. She promised good things, I loved her energy, and after a sample intro class, I signed up on the spot. It is indeed tough enough for CrossFit enthusiasts like me, but scalable for anyone at any fitness level. The difference though, is the focus on postpartum recovery. It’s designed to reattach that stubborn middle section(AKA, your core) that, with a mind of its own, just wants to hang out like an untucked shirt. After only a month of classes 2 – 3 times a week, I’ve successfully been able to do what nine months of other strenuous exercise could not: start to nail that stomach back down where it belongs! My clothes are suddenly falling off my waist, and even my husband noticed the difference. I’m stoked! And I’m stronger than ever! I love that it’s a quick hour and 15 minutes of my time and that I’m already sweating by the end of the warmup. I also love Takara’s joyful attitude, encouraging motivation, and icebreaker question at the start of each class. I’ve made some new friends, and participated in a couple«extracurricular» moms night out activities too. Minimum time invested, maximum results achieved, and new friends made! That’s what I was looking for. And THAT is what makes it a win-win-win!

Don’t hesitate to jump in on this group! Grab your kids and just go! I’m so glad I did! The workouts are at different levels so don’t be intimidated at all. The other moms are so supportive and friendly. I thought going into this group that it would be an «easy» workout, but oh no! I was sore the next day. Sometimes it’s really hard to meet other moms and make friends, especially if you’ve just moved to the island. But this is a great way to meet other empowered women that are in the same situation as you. Takara is super energetic and such a positive spirit, and seeing her killin it with her three kiddos in a triple jog stroller is truly inspiring.
