We tried the spicy shrimp and the garlic shrimp, both were legit. Its a little bit pricey tho, 14 dollars for about 7 or 8 shrimps. But again, the shrimps were pretty good.

Gotta hand it to them on their Garlic Shrimp plate! Mixing the garlic shrimp sauce and rice is just too good! The salad is refreshing, the line works like a charm with the shrimp! Let’s not forget the pineapple slice! Also customer service is excellent, workers are friendly and quick!

For the price, the shrimp plates were a rip-off compared to other shrimp trucks on the island. There was certainly less than a dozen shrimp and the taste was very bland. They ran out of rice that day so it was only about $ 1 reduction in price. The owner was very nice though.

We enjoyed our food here. Came here twice and the first time we got the medium shrimp which was pretty delicious. Second time the bf tried the 5 star spicy which I couldn’t hang and felt it tasted a lot like siracha. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the guys on the truck was super friendly and nice. They actually introduced themselves to my bf and shook his hand. He was very happy with the service. Great place to hang out. It might not be North Shore shrimp truck but it is pretty good to me.

Shrimp was ok. Sides were terrible. They don’t offer soy sauce or anything for your meal. Definitely NOT worth $ 13.99 that’s for sure. Would not return

So the guy was super nice and the food was like a 4 but the price is way too high for what you get. 8 steamed shrimp a small scoop of macaroni salad ½ cup rice and a ¼ slice of pineapple… Not worth 14+ after tax. It’s a 10 dollar food box at best. Good food/terrible value.

I don’t know if I was really hungry, but this shrimp truck to me was not all that bad. My food actually came out pretty quickly, and there were 2 other customers ahead of me. The garlic shrimp I got had small chunks of garlic, but nothing excessive, and the shrimp were a good size, and filling. I am not a big critic on minimal sauce, as I am accustomed to a low salt/sugar way of eating, but it did have adequate flavor. Anyone complaining it had no taste is just used to excessive amounts of salt in their food. I also liked that they gave salad as a side dish, sometimes I want something lighter than huge amounts of rice. The mac salad was ok. Was too full by then to really enjoy that part of the meal. I knocked it down to 3 cus the guy at the front of the truck was a bit of a dick, and I don’t appreciate rudeness whenI am paying close to $ 15 for a meal.

So how was the shrimp plate? Certainly not the worst but a far cry from the best shrimp trucks on the island. I think people come here out of convenience. The truck is parked at this same spot all day along with other food trucks(ramen, grilled chicken, shave ice, and loco moco). There were three types of shrimp plates to choose from — garlic, lemon butter, and spicy. The recommended choice is the garlic shrimp plate($ 13.99). Eight large shrimp with a side of of mac salad and a green salad with thousand island dressing. Other than a little butter, the shrimp had very little flavor to it. The rice was undercooked, sticky and still a little hard. The mac had zero taste and the salad was what it was. At least my order for three of the garlic shrimp plates came out quickly. I’m still keeping my hopes alive as the search continues.

I didnt eat here. I’m a vegetarian but my husband did. It was the closest shrimp truck to us so we decided to ignore the prior ratings. And Of coarse as expected we were not successful. The garlic shrimp was a weird soupy kind of dish. No chunks of garlic anywhere. Not at all what it looks like in the picture you first order it from. So he decided it was a two star since we have had mamy times garlic shrimp from other trucks and they were much better.

quality here seems to vary daily. we stayed at the embassy suites, which is literally right across the street, so we ate at these food trucks probably 3 – 4 times during our 5 day stay in hawaii. when they cook it well, the shrimp is crisp and the sauce has the perfect thickness and flavor… however, on our first day we basically got a soupy mess; the sauce was too thin and not cooked nearly long enough so the rich garlic flavor was absent. and oh yea, terrible service from the lady at the register during the day as well. similar to what some others have said, it’s not what she says but how she speaks and it just gives off a vibe that makes you feel like you’re being an inconvenience by paying $ 13.99(!) for a plate of six shrimp. i ordered at night a few times and the younger guys were a lot friendlier.

This is the second time I’ve eaten here and for both occasions they’ve taken a long time to prepare my food. I understand that it takes a while for food trucks to cook their food, but this food truck took 30 minutes. The first time I had their steak plate, it was juicy and delicious. But today I had their loco moco plate and it was pretty bad. There was too much gravy that it made my meal like a soup and the patty was small and hard. Overall it was hardly enjoyable.

Ordered Garlic shrimp and got shrimp in a yellow soup that tasted like a mildewed towel. Never go there

Love this place — yes the shrimp is still in the shell(get over it, it’s worth the work), but the portions are great(we had a group eat with the lemon and the garlic shrimp) and June Cleaver the manager may not be, but it takes a special person to be willing to call my husband a**hole Dave as requested.

Best pancakes ever! Ordered them for breakfast. The serving wasn’t too large. Had lots of chocolate chip in the pancakes. Lots of honey and butter on the side too. The guys who made me the pancakes are sooo… nice! Everything on the menu is so affordable. I mean this is Honolulu after all where the cost of food is just crazy. Talk about inflation. But Five Star Shrimp is so ono and affordable! Where else in Honolulu can you get a pancake for 99 cents?!

Nothing compared to the shrimp trucks in North shore and the manager was extremely rude and impatient. For being in the heart of Waikiki they weren’t very tourist friendly. Stingy on the sauce and 5 star hot was not even spicy. If there was a way to rate it no stars I would.

Really bad service(lady taking orders) not just to us but to the other customers Not enough garlic Taste like shrimp cooked with siracha Bought 11 shrimp plates and we asked for extra napkins and forks and she said no. Rude service and not even that good. Change name to «1 star chump»

The food was pretty good, but the service was terrible! I found this place while wandering around Waikiki. When I walked over, the lady standing working at the front ignored me completely & then finally told me to go away because they weren’t opening until ten mins. Off I went, wandered off for about half an hour and came back because I wanted the garlic shrimp. Was hoping the other staff member(a man) would be friendly but he didn’t even say a word and the female stuck out her hand for the money while glaring and also not saying a word. Super creepy and would not recommend.

Came here after a wonderful day on Waikiki Beach. I have been dying to try a shrimp truck near the beach. Pretty good portions. A shrimp plate comes with desired flavored shrimp, salad, and Mac salad. Plates are 13.99 and they so give well sizes shrimp. The only suggestion I would make is to peel the shell off. Overall great SHRIMP!

Really wanted to like this. Have to say for $ 14 for garlic shrimp I was disappointed. The shells were still on the shrimp and the flavor was just ho hum. A little bit of rice and salad didn’t make up for it. Won’t be back.
