While on vacation this past July, I purchased a pair of Kate Spade sunglasses at the Lewers Street location that broke within the first 2 weeks. We contacted the customer service department and they replaced the sunglasses and are even mailing them back to our home in CA. We vacation in Oahu yearly and Freaky Tiki is the place I will go from now on for my sunglasses.(As a side note, we originally went to Sunglass Hut and they offered us a «rewards card», which ended up being a credit card so they were deceptive and ran our credit without telling us. Needless to say we walked out). Freaky Tiki you now have a loyal customer. Thanks for the great customer service.

On our way to dinner at Dukes and just passed by this shop. My husband certainly didn’t need a 4th pair of Maui Jims but we entered anyways. Niko helped us superbly, he was very knowledgeable about Maui Jims current and past glasses. I can’t convey how happy we were at the courteous service and of course the perfect sunglass. Mahalo Niko!

Coming here was my freakin’ destiny. On my recent trip to Oahu, I needed a pair of sunglasses. A near impossible task as I’ve had maybe 1 – 2 pairs that fit my bulbous head in my lifetime, and this was pre puberty. The weeks leading up to my trip, I would pop into a sunglass hut or other optical and try on a few sun spectacles. As expected, nothing fit well, and the one pair that would fit decently was in my dreams. I had given up hope in finding a good pair, but still would meander into shops praying to find something. My friend had even taken it upon herself to find me something. It was an overcast and drizzly evening. A cool breeze tugged at our shirts like a toddler needing a lift. The streets were illuminated with dim lights, creating a barely visible atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. To my left, I spotted yet another optical with sunglasses unabashedly displayed. I have already grown accustomed to unflinchingly walking past all stores without much of a glance, but for some reason I heeded the call of my friend to have a look. The walls were full of different frames and cases with colorful decorations, an all too familiar sight and yet expecting the same result. In no time, a frame was handed to me with the usual«this is the largest one they have, try it on.» Trying not to have my eye roll appear too obvious, I reluctantly grasped the shades and wrapped them around my temples, gliding the arms over my ears. The initial wave of endorphins took me by utter surprise. My head for the first time in my adult life knew what a hand felt when slipped into the perfect glove. «Mirror…I need a mirror,» were the first words to spill from my seemingly numb lips. Drunken with disbelief, I inched my way to the standing mirror. A second wave of endorphins, but this time I was ready. Euphoria lay waste to perplexity, hope relinquished the doubt. I have finally found the pair of sunglasses I can wear and in which I look sharp. All that was required was to fly 5000 miles, climb up from a pit of despair, and a single swipe of plastic. Failure is a necessity to truly appreciate and reap the fruits of success. Oh yeah, and the staff is absolutely wonderful and helpful!

Walked by this place several times in the past but decided to head in there this past weekend. Glad we did! What sets this place apart from some other sunglass places is the discounts! Did you know that if its raining, they will have a 20% off everything in the store? And there’s a 10% Kamaaina discount? Yup! It happened to be raining the day we went in and we saw the sign for 20% off. As soon as the sun comes out or it stops raining, they pull the sale sign. Fair enough. Maybe because it wasn’t busy, that day but the customer service was very good. And when the pair of sunglasses my husband bought(at 20% off) had a tiny nick in the lens they offered to get it from their Outrigger Hotel location for a better pair. Will definitely go back here again to pick up specific, quality glasses in the near future. Pros: –20% off all merchandise(except Maui Jims) on rainy days at the Lewers location BUT the Outrigger location said they’d honor it if you mention the other store is doing it –10% Kamaaina discount on all merchandise(except Maui Jims) –Customer service Cons: –Prices, but this is just a general gripe… why any kind of sunglasses would cost more than $ 100(Diors, Oakleys etc) is beyond me BUT we pay it anyway to look sharp and clear.

A sunglass place located in the heart of Waikiki — I’m sure they get pretty good business from tourists that forget their sunglasses or lose them off a boat. Not pointing any fingers at myself or anything… Anyways, they have a pretty decent selection and good prices. Half the staff is knowledgeable, the other half… eh, have any pot, man?
