Well, I now sort of have a reputation for hanging out at Shirokiya and writing reviews of small but great Japanese food businesses at Shirokiya. No sense denying it. Time to come out of the closet and continue my attempt at reviewing every place at Shirokiya with no shame. This time: The MUSUBI Master at Shirokiya. Fukumusubi ! First to Review! Location: Ala Moana Center, Shirokiya Store, second floor food court. Right next to Toyo Sushi and across from the Okonomiyaki place. Near the escalators. Kind of hard to find because the counters all sort of blend together. The fact the name is only written in Japanese and not in English helps keep it hidden. Food: Musubi of all sorts. Tempura. Bentos and combinations. I’m not sure how long they have been at this location but it has been there as long as I can remember. The Musubi’s are what get my attention every time. Spam, salmon and more! Special musubi combos and classics. They all look good. They are made with true craftsmanship. Reasonable prices! I love it. Vegetarian: Vege Tempura is a winner for sure. But, there is also a vegan musubi. It is simply the perfect sushi/musubi rice with tsukimono for flavoring. And great flavoring it is. So what I ate for lunch the other day was this vegan musubi and a buckwheat soba from next door at Toyo Sushi. Great filling meal and it is all vegan and lots of great flavor. I loved it. Service: Attentive staff who are dedicated to keeping the counter stocked with fresh items.
