This place is a cheap dim sum restaurant but me and my boyfriend was disappointed in their service. The dim sum cart person looked at our table(we were already done with our food) and they didn’t bother to ask if we want anything else. We wanted to order and they just peeked at us and walked away like we were invisible. We were sitting in the corner table and the table next to us got service, but they walked passed us and that’s when we were just pissed off because we were clearly eager to order. I was raising my hand and calling over but they ignored us. Before we left, they didn’t give us the right change = terrible math skills. So as a result. Terrible service =low tip. I believe that every customer should be treated with equal service no matter how buy it gets. Came back another time, but this time I went for take out. Although the service here sucks(for sit down) I’d prefer the takeout side. I ordered shrimp and char siu look fun, fried shrimp won ton, har gau, siu Mai, chicken feet, and beef chow fun. It’s really busy from morning to afternoon. So I tend to try to get my order in quickly as possible. I would have to repeat my order over and over until they get it. And a tip… BEASSERTIVE! they would try to suggest you to buy other foods. But I already have thought out what I wanted. Spent about 35 $ on all this :) in the end, I’m happy because I got my dim sum

Food is really tasty and REALLYCHEAP — large portions as well. $ 25 including tip for 2 and we are really full… with leftovers! It might help if you are chinese/cantonese. Service is fast! Very satisfied — décor is kind of old but food is great.

To my opinion, I think this place has the best Dim Sum in the island. Not just that, the Dim Sum is not too pricey, which is good. Plus, the Dim Sum are good size, hot, & comes in lots of variety. Too bad they don’t validate parking. Would be nice if they do that, especially in the area like ChinaTown. But overall, good restaurant, definitely I’ll come back for more in the future someday. 4⁄5 stars from me.

This is my «go to» place for dim sum! Prices are reasonable! Typical Chinese restaurant with typical Chinese service. Not very friendly, and no fancy ambience. Once I had to sit in the back near the kitchen… not very appealing! Heck… as long as the food is good and I don’t get sick! Great, now I’m hungry for dim sum! LOL!

Cheap, fast and tasty. But every dim sum we got today was only slightly warm. I want my dim sum burning, smoking hot. Not dry and barely heated. It was only 10:50 in the AM. Everything should have been piping hot. Ordered the usual, har gow, spinach/shrimp, pork hash and duck. Manini portions. Duck was tasty but cold and greasy. What gives? Char sui bao was cold and hard. Blah. Foojuk wrap was bland but the only thing that was steaming hot. Whoop. Ordered tripe from the kitchen. Nothing like the pictures I’ve seen. A heaping Tbsp. on a little dish, at best. Manini portions. Tasted like dirty diaper. Sliced into chunks not thinly sliced. No sauce. Mustard shoyu had to do. Yuck. Tea was outstanding. But for $ 20.00, I want my food hot.

Their salt & pepper pork chop is DELICIOUS!!! Both my coworker and my boss loved it and can’t help compliment it with their mouth full the second they try it lol. Couldn’t beat the price too!

The all dim sum deal for $ 2.49 for 3 pieces at this little Chinese restaurant is actually a really good deal. It is my go-to place if I want to grab some inexpensive Chinese food in large quantities. However looks can be deceiving, as the inside and outside of the restaurant does not have the most welcoming look to it. Food quality wise, this Golden Palace has a large assortment of dim sum to try. Its best to bring a friend or two so you can get the most out of the experience or at least the opportunity to sample all they have to offer. The pork hash is my favorite thing to eat here. It is savory and juicy, but it does have a little bit of an excess grease feel to it(which isn’t a problem unless you don’t like that kind of thing). The shrimp and gyoza dim sum are also delicious, but the good thing about the gyoza is that it is prepared(fried) right in front of you on the dim sum cart. Most of the food is quick to get to your table and you can begin eating right away. You can even order out as most of the food is pre made and get your order as quickly as 15 minutes. The only downside, as I said earlier, is that the restaurant is not the cleanest. As you walk in the dirt on the floor and on the walls is more than noticeable. This usually does not phase me, but to new customers this will probably be the deal breaker. Also the service is not friendly, everyone who works here seems to be trying to get rid of you as soon as possible. But on the upside this means I get my food much quicker so I’ll live with it for now!

I used to frequent this place as a child when it was known as Sea Fortune. The place was getting old and dingy. It was not kept in good condition and started to go downhill. My dad suggested we come here for my birthday the other night, since we haven’t been here in a while. At first I was a little hesitant, but I’m glad that we did come here. The place was looking a lot better. They replaced that nasty carpet with tile. Overall, it just seemed more clean and tidy. They have some of the best prices around for Chinese food. When you first sit down, they’ll only bring you the regular menu. Those in the know will ask for the set menu. The have dinner for four for $ 34 or dinner for six for $ 48, which is the best deal in town. Dinner for four comes with soup, lobster, and three menu items. Dinner for six comes with soup, lobster, and five menu items. You can switch out the lobster for crab for an additional $ 10. They have too many items on the list for me to name. Check out the pink menu that I’ll be posting below. The night that we went, they had chicken and vegetable soup. We got the garlic and ginger lobster. The five entrees that we chose were shoyu chicken, chicken salad, steamed Kahuku shrimp, scallops with mixed vegetables, and sweet & sour seabass filet. We also ordered a side of roast duck and salted fish & chicken fried rice, $ 6.95 each. We order salted fish & chicken fried rice at every Chinese restaurant that we step foot in. It usually runs about $ 12-$ 13 an order. Again, this place is a bargain. We got all that food for $ 62. Ok, so the food was cheap. How did it taste? The food was awesome. It was on par with many of the Chinese restaurants that we frequent. Everything was fresh and seasoned nicely. My favorites were the lobster, shrimp, and roast duck. The chicken salad contained jellyfish, yay. I’ve noticed that a lot of Chinese restaurants are skimping on it. The duck was meaty. I hate when they give me all skin and bones. I do feel that if you come to a place like this, you have to know what to order. It also helps if you speak to them in Cantonese.

Two stars for the price and the fact that it’s food. We had dim sum and it was pretty bad. Definitely not fresh. Some dishes tasted close to spoiled. Like leftovers from the day before were reheated and sat in the steaming baskets for too long. I won’t go here again. Bummers

After grabbing some delicious bubble tea, we were looking to try some fresh fish from Maguro Brothers but I didn’t have the exact address with me. I knew I was close but just didn’t know which exact fish market it was. Tip — it’s actually the one where all the fresh fruit/bananas are being sold outside. As we were walking around, my sister spotted Golden Palace and their $ 2.49 all day dim sum signs. The guy working the cashier ended up pointing out where Maguro Bros was(it was just around the corner) but we decided to stay and try a couple of their dim sum dishes. Poor decision on our part. — Ha gow, shrimp/spinach dumpling, xia long bao(XLB) and foo juk — everything was pretty mediocre. The XLB’s were surprisingly decent except for that they didn’t give us a spoon or vinegar dipping sauce — the soup broke when I tried to pick them up. Grrr. Both dumplings weren’t anything special and the foo juk was pretty meh. The worst part was at the end when we were about to go up front to pay our bill. The waitress came up to us and kept on telling us to leave a tip at the table. I guess they don’t get anything if you tip at the front. Not that she even deserved a tip unless you count giving us dirty dishes and handing us our four dim dishes from the cart in an empty restaurant as service… Can’t say I would ever come back to this place even with the cheap prices. Food wasn’t fresh and the place looks completely outdated and depressing. Don’t even ask my sister about the cleanliness of their restroom. ;)

Feb.2016, went there for Dim Sum, the services is ok, but their quaily is very poor and not hot enought, I have better Dim Sum elsewhere, But a group of us, 8 in all went there for lunch and we order everything from the menu, no Dim Sum at all, and the food comes out hot and tastey, so if we go back, will be for dinner and not Dim Sum. There was a live roach in our House Special Chow Mein!!! The waiter took it away and they still try to charge us for it. We had to complain about it for them to take it off from the bill. I don’t recommend eating here because the service is bad, the people working here are not friendly at all. It wasn’t a pleasant experience at all!!! I would give a zero star but Unilocal doesn’t allow that

Even the greatest of foods will never make up for a lack of professionalism in any restaurant business. Unfortunately for Golden Palace, they don’t even offer the greatest of all dim sum to begin to make up for their lack of professionalism. I have no problem with their dim sum. I enjoyed the food I ate there and felt that they had a decent variety of dishes at a good price($ 2.49/plate). The trouble came at the end of our meal. My friends and I mistakenly forgot to leave a tip. When we asked for our bill, the lady just pointed to the receipt on the table, which was in Chinese, so we couldn’t tell how much we owed just yet. Therefore, we made our way to the cashier to pay our bill. The total was displayed on the register without any offer of a paper receipt. My friends and I figured they wouldn’t take well to 3 credit cards, so we fumbled with our cash making sure we got the total correct. At the end of fumbling with dollar bills, it slipped our minds to go back to the table to leave our tip(which would have amounted to about $ 3). When we were already a few feet out the door, one of the workers ran after us, extended her hand and rudely demanded, «Tip!!» It took us a moment to process this oversight but mostly to get over our surprise that a worker would actually follow us out of the restaurant and demand a tip. Now I’m all for paying workers the tip they deserve, but for a worker to follow us after we had already exited the restaurant and demand tip like she expected it was beyond rude and downright unprofessional. I’m the type that leaves a tip even for poor service, but I definitely know people who do not believe tip is automatic, that it truly needs to be earned. It is, therefore, very presumptuous of any worker to expect and demand tip of a customer. We actually gave her the full $ 3 tip(rather than denying it after this insult), and she left without so much as a «thank you»). Given that the tip was only $ 3, it would have been much classier to let it go. Plus, had I later realized this oversight, I would have left a larger tip the next time I ate at this restaurant. Instead, all they did was insult several customers, who now will not be returning here. To add to other unprofessional behavior that will keep me away, during other visits, despite the restaurant being very empty, the workers will be visibly disgruntled if you request certain seats and try to discourage you from them. We discovered that this is because they have certain regular Chinese customers who proceed to make a fuss and glare at you if you are sitting in their usual seat. Given that dim sum restaurants are in no short supply in Chinatown, I would highly recommend you go elsewhere.

Just ok — once was enough though After the beach we visited Chinatown. Chinatown itself isn’t that impressive, but has some good stores with fruits /veggies. Feeling a bit hungry we walked into this place. Ususally I check the reviews first… but didn’t do on this one. Inside it’s your typical Dim Sum place. Big round tables and staff walking around with their Dim Sum(and dessert) carts. Besides that there is also a huge menu to choose from. Service was pretty basic, but ok. We had some Dim Sum from the carts and the House Special Chow Mein. Dim Sum were ok, pork not really great quality. Chow Mein was fine… a bit different, since the noodles were somehow fried/baked and pretty hard. But big-sized…can feed two persons. Prices here are fair and you can fill your stomachs. But it’s just nothing that stands out or anything special. You pay in front at the cashier. Before we even had the chance to put some tips in the jar the guy(what looked like the manager) was screaming: Tip Tip Tip! Well, hold your horses… at least let us pay first. I understand some might not give any tips, but this is not the way to get an extra dollar. All in all an ok place to eat. But not a restaurant I would revisit.

First off, do not use the bathroom here. I made that mistake and the damage was done. Still, we sat down at a table. The place was almost empty at 4:30pm and that should have been our second clue to leave, but we’re pretty resilient. My friend wiped her plate with a napkin while I switched out my dirty plate for a cleaner looking one from another table. When the waiter brought us menus, I inquired about dim sum and found out they had stopped serving it around 3:30pm. We were told we could look through the leftovers on the cart. I decided on the mochi rice wrapped in lotus leaves. Figured that would be the safest/most sanitary choice as we saw other people looking through the leftovers too.
We decided to order a couple of dishes and the server actually stopped me from ordering a third dish, saying what we had was enough and not to order anymore. That was actually a blessing in disguise because the food was not good. The chicken in taro basket came without the taro basket and I had to spit out a piece of meat from the house noodles because I couldn’t discern what it was. Was it fish? It didn’t have the texture of fish. We hardly ate anything at all. I was embarrassed that I had dragged my friend here so I paid for the bill, tipped, took the leftovers even though we just threw it away in the trash can outside. Maybe if we came in for dim sum, it would have been a better experience. Maybe not.

Just attended a party hosted here where they served several courses upstairs(great space for ~150). If i ever decide marriage is sexy… I will return for the white fungus soup, which has a delicious broth and(they say:) healthy show fungus. Everyone at my table of 8 devoured it. Duck skin was served in a steamed numb and was so-so when served(it wasn’t too hot and maybe say around for awhile?). The shrimp was too mushy and wasn’t as perfect as, say, Vietnamese soup but was quite flavorful. Duck(center) was served bbq stylle… it was above average and worth a repeat. I’ll be back. I love the look of this place. It reminds me of that old(trouble in little?) Chinatown movie, lol

I think I know why this place opens so late in all of China town: to get more business. The food is mediocre. We had the dinner menu, not the dim sum. The service was fast as we were one of the three tables there for dinner; peak hours! Anyhow, we had two lobsters, prepared two different way: sauteed in ginger and onion with sauce and salt & pepper. Both of which were good($ 28 per lobster). Salted fish and chicken fried rice was also delicious; as well as the sauteed veggies with garlic. Now, what was bad were the beef chow fun– very oily, and the clams with black bean sauce was disgusting! There were a bunch of dead clams that tasted awful. We couldn’t eat the dish at all. We mentioned it to our waitress and she was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Would I come back? Only if I’m in the area. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. It’s a hit and miss with their dinner menu.

Let me tell you why I come here. There’s practically no wait because they have a huge dining room and its cheap. Super awesome for large parties. We usually show up with like eight to ten people with out of town guests. No reservations. Sit down almost immediately and bam, food. However the food is nothing special. It’s not the best dim sum but it’s not the worse either. But hey at least its cheap. Oh and come to expect the same(slow) service you get from almost every Asian restaurant. That’s here. So at least I got that going for me.

Not too bad for my first time eating dim sum. Nothing like eating dim sum in Chinatown, right? The good: — Lots of choices on the carts that frequent around the tables and on the menu, as well. For the shellfish-allergic person like myself, there are chicken and veggie alternatives that I enjoyed. — For the adventurous tongue: There’s also pig’s feet, chicken feet… and other animals and parts lol — Definitely cheap eats– It was about $ 3 per dim sum plate! For four people we spent about $ 7 each including tip and we were hungrryyy. The bad: — Some of our dishes were cold, I’m guessing because they stay out too long on the carts the employees wheel around. — Cleanliness of the place is not too great, especially in the bathroom. — Difficult to communicate with the workers sometimes as they mainly speak Chinese. — OK customer service. Not friendly, but not horrible either. I think I will venture on to other dim sum restaurants, although I think this was a pretty good start!

Cheap Eats for Dim Sum! Just like any Dim Sum restaurant in Chinatown, you’ll find your fair share of dim sum… but here, I was blown away by their other menu items. Pickled Jelly Fish! Pickled Pig’s Feet! Black Pepper Chicken Feet! Just to name a few tasty grub! My favorite Rice dish to get is their Shrimp Fried Rice… once you take a spoon full, you’ll never stop. I find myself eating half the plate! The carts come around so you can choose your dishes and always in good portions and some are made to order, like their Fried Look Funn… so good! Can’t wait to go back and stuff my face!
