Hardware Hawaii

I was more than pleasantly surprised at the service at this store. AWESOME! If there was a 5 star plus experience, this was certainly it. I was looking for a specific type of lawn blower, and I was approached by Jamie, customer service agent. I explained to her what I needed and why, she said okay, and checked the inventory. Of course, being my luck, there were none in stock at this store but Kailua had one. Jamie graciously told me that she could have it delivered to the Mapunapuna store and I could pick it up on Thursday. She also made sure that she called me and when I showed up, it was ready and tagged for me.

My experience at Hardware Hawaii was great! Usually I go to the big chain stores like Home Depot or Lowes, but I happened to Google and find a local hardware store, Hardware Hawaii, and decided to try it out. First off I called to make sure they had what I needed which was really nothing special, but I didn’t want to make the drive and have to go to another store. The woman who answered the phone was really polite and helpful. By the way, a PERSON answered the phone! I wasn’t directed through a series of numerical selections via a computer! Hooray! Anyway, there is lots of parking in front and to the side of the building. Once I got in Michael from lumber helped me. He was very kind and helpful too. He went out of his way to help me which I thought was awesome. I just wanted a small piece of plywood cut so I can make a shelf for my son. He took the time to listen to what I needed and get me the product. I am bummed out that I haven’t discovered them sooner!

I was very impressed with Hardware Hawaii. I’m trying to put together a hang rail system and the other store doesn’t stock the 16″ shelves… I don’t like having to pay in advance and special ordering the wider shelves… then waiting a week for them to arrive.
The staff here seems really pleasant and abundant… lots of great items…
I will definitely start shopping here more often.

The short hours are very inconvenient for me however everything else is satisfactory. A very good mid-​range alternative to the cavernous big box stores. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking lot is large enough but tough to spot in between buildings. Take it slow, you’ll find it.

Great customer service and reasonable prices. Sure their prices might be a few dollars more than Home Depot, but I know when I walk in the door someone is going to help me get exactly what I need. Everyone was extremely helpful and knowledgable. I had them make a copy of a few special keys, something a locksmith would have charged closer to $ 50, walked out of their store happily with $ 8 less in my pocket. I will be returning to hardware hawaii in the future!

After the hell that is Woodcraft customer service, it was just so nice to actually be greeted by multiple happy employees, be told exactly where to locate what I was looking for, and offered to cut the lumber and load it for me. God bless you for knowing how to treat people, Hardware Hawaii!
Located on mapunapuna, near the harley dealership with a good amount of on-​site parking and the best darn hardware/​lumber/​manly stuff staff I’ve ever seen. If only you carried exotic hardwoods, I would never stray!

This place is is a decent hardware store. It’s considerably smaller than the larger stores and don’t carry as many items on their shelves, but should be fine for most people not looking for any specialty type items. They do, however, have a nice sized lumber section. Their prices are on the higher side; the staff is generally helpful.

I’ve been dreading this rather large project simply due to the drama of going down to the store, wheeling stuff around, then man-​handling all the stuff back to my shop!
These guys are awesome! I emailed my materials list and within 20 minutes was given an email and phone quote! I arranged a delivery and paid via CC — DONE!!!
HOLY CRAP! I can’t begin to describe how much time I saved and if you factor in the frustration and physical work necessary to accumulate things at the «other guys» store… WOW!
Guess I gotta just buy more stuff!

I went to pick up some wood. I was greeted within 5 steps out of my truck. I think it was luck more than their procedure, but worked for me.
The guy walked me into the office, found my paperwork, and within 10 minutes, he had my truck loaded, and I was on my way.
I am impressed.

Not sure what everybody else dealt with but my experience here was the best. I have been to all the other stores on island and generally get good service from them, but I chose to go here because it is closer to my house. I was greeted at the door, and had 3 people help me find what I needed! They were all very nice and extremely helpful! I am military and the only thing I can say bad about this place is that it don’t have a military discount. Other than that I will be shopping here again because my experience was awesome!

Dear Hardware Hawaii,
I want to love you because I want to shop local. Also, I want to shop in my neighborhood. However you just do not have what it takes to meet my needs. You have fallen short way too many times.
Remember the time I came for tile nippers? Your employee did not know what a tile nipper was. I almost bought the wrong thing. I also came for paint primer that one time because I ran out of the one I got from Sherwin Williams. You said your primer was just as good however the quality was not the same. The final straw was when I went for caulking. The gentleman in the area did not acknowledge me. He helped another customer for a good 10 minutes before I decided its caulking, I can’t screw it up and got a tube and went home. Well I screwed it up. ARgghh I needed help!
I usually go on weekends because this is when the hubby and I tackle our DIY projects. There are not a lot a shopper these on weekends however there also are not enough sales persons to help customers.
Please do better. I will continue visiting you to save 20 minutes to drive to the big box stores. I hope I can write an update and bump you up a star or two.

Bad bad bad customer service from the pompus sales staff. Prices are high too. Go to home depot, dont waste your time with the arrogance here. The cashiers were the only people not bothered by a question and pleasant. Aloha kama ainas.
