Macadamia nuts: a luxury that can be both expensive and addicting to both the average local and visitor to these isles. Most you buy are dehydrated and loaded with chemicals to help preserve the nuts. However, this glorious find is preservative free! This review will be about their booth at the KCC farmer’s market. They have two kinds of nuts you could get there: raw or roasted. Let me add another tidbit before getting into the two, all of the nuts are still in the shell; this guarantees the most fresh, preservative-free macadamias you can find. Let’s start with my favorite: the raw. Like the name suggests, these come straight from the tree. There has been nothing done to them. Most people have never eaten a raw macadamia nut before, and if you think my reviews match your tastes in food, let me tell you that these are so sweet! The nut lady(whom you can find every Saturday at the KCC market) calls them«candy in nut form». I’m going to have to agree with her wholeheartedly on this. Plus, the softness of the raw nuts are good for people with sensitive teeth like me. The other kind they have are the roasted. These nuts are the raw, but baked under 140 degree temperature while in the shell. These taste great also, and are also better to take with you if you are here on a trip and going back. They are already in a bag ready to go. Great for cooking and on salads as well. You may be thinking how are you going to eat these delicious nuts while they are still in the shell? Especially since these nuts are the hardest nuts in the world to crack. They have a special cracker they sell; so good they import them straight from Australia. Easy to use after getting the hang of it, and you can crack any kind of nut you can fit in there. Although prices of macadamia nuts have gone up, this place’s rates are still the same! So if you’re asking yourself, «Where to go to get good tasting macadamia nuts that are guaranteed fresh?» Hawaii Grown Macadamia Nuts is where you need to be! Cheers and happy Unilocaling!!!
