Anna is my favorite. Today I had ken and he was okay. Not as masterful as everybody said he was. And the price for $ 20 is a bit much.

Make sure you ask for Sue(Sunan). She’s great at cutting hair and gives a very relaxing massage before she sends you on your way. Call and make an appointment with her. It’s cash or check only. There’s cash machines close by at Long’s and Safeway.

This would’ve gotten 5 stars but it’s a little pricey for just a men’s haircut $ 20 bucks. But aside from that, the person that cuts my hair, Sunan(Susan) is very friendly and IMO cuts the best full hawk. The place is clean and make sure you make an appointment before heading down cause it does get busy.

Ken cut both my boys’ hair. He did a good job at a fairly reasonable price. Note they do not take credit cards.

Ken is the man! He has been cutting my hair for a long time and I highly recommend him to everyone! It would be better if you call and make an appointment because his schedule is busy. He has additional staff who cut and color both male and female clients.

I’ve been getting my hair cut here since the 8th grade. First, I went to Kimo, who has since moved on to an upscale fashion salon. Ever since then, Ken has been my primary stylist. Let me say, Ken is the master. He is as accurate as they come. A lot of people want to try new styles, but the great thing about Ken is, he can judge based on the thickness and curliness of your hair whether a style will work for you — and if not, what adjustments should be made. By the way, when I first went to him, he was one several stylists. Now, he is the owner. That should tell you a little about his talent. As far as the«Korean lady» comments of Joj o., this guy rated Boston North End Pizza only three stars, so regardless if he’s from Boston, he has extremely high standards. I will say Ken cuts it better than the Korean lady, but like Joj o, says, it’s mostly the language barrier. At least she’s pretty good at coloring.

I’ve been here twice. It’s located in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, over by Pizza Hut and The Shack. The first time, my hair was pretty long(4−5in). The Korean lady cutting my hair commented that I looked like a girl, and then gave me a pretty good haircut. «Look much better now, yeah?» It did, so about a month later, I went back for another session. I got the same lady, so I was hoping for a repeat of the last time. Unfortunately, the language barrier stood in the way of me getting anything remotely good. She asked me how I wanted it cut, so I told her to cut off about ½ an inch, and make the sides a little shorter. «½ an inch?» she asked. I responded positively, and she proceeded to cut my hair. She grapped some hair off the top of my head, and cut it… to ½ an inch. I winced, as I saw my beautiful hair drop to the floor. But it didn’t phase me, as I’ve had my hair fairly short before. From past experience, I figured she would be able to finish it up alright. As she continued trimming off way more hair than I wanted, she brought out the clippers. I thought she was gonna just go a little bit up the sides, then fade it. I should’ve stopped her before she buzzed all the way up to the top. I should’ve spoken up, but at this point, my hair was already ruined. I let her finish her attempts at a haircut, and I ended up with a military crew cut. I’m not in the military, and frankly I don’t think I give off the appearance or vibe that I’m in the military, so I’m not sure why she thought that’s what I wanted. «This is how everybody getting their hair cut!» I just nodded, and waited for her to finish trimming my neck and sideburns so I could get out of there. I caught her before she cut my sideburns above the top of my ears. I left with a crappy haircut, and $ 20 poorer($ 16.50 haircut, and I’m too nice not to tip). Some of the comments I received on my new haircut: «What did you do to your hair?!» «I hope you didn’t pay for that haircut!» «Who cut your hair? Jeez» It’s safe to say that from now on, I’ll be going out of my way to drive to Paul’s Barber Hairstyling on Monsarrat.
