Not a lot of «shopping» options in Hawaii Kai — however, this is one of the three major shopping centers out on the East side. This center is anchored by Safeway, Longs Drugs Store, McDonald’s. I used to frequent Kale’s a lot, but they’re not here anymore. There are several dining options(the Shack, ChaChaCha Salsaria, Ba-Le, LnL Drive Inn, Hana Sushi, Island Brew Coffeehouse and Phoenix Chinese Cuisine), dotted with some mom and pop shops(shoe repair, beauty/barber shop), pet stores, medical clinic(Queens, an eye dr., and dentist), and water sports businesses… they pack a lot in this tiny shopping center with waterfront view!

Great neighborhood shopping center with great anchor tenants(longs drugs and safeway). Too bad with open spaces available!

Hawaii Kai Shopping Center is the shopping complex that houses Safeway, Longs, The Shack and several other establishments. Property Management does a terrible job keeping the common areas clean and tidy. In fact, aside from the occasional walk through from the security guard, I can’t remember the last time I saw a maintenance worker emptying the trash, sweeping up debris or doing anything to keep this place tidy. I went to Safeway a couple of days ago and was dismayed at the amount of trash outside of the store, on the grounds surrounding the optometry center, Hakuyosha and Hana Sushi. Sorry to sound like a snob, but isn’t Hawaii Kai supposed to be a more affluent neighborhood?!

FYI been shopping and eating here for many years. Had dinner at the Shack last night. While eating we were getting splashed… looked around… no guilty parties. Looked up and directly above our table there was a black mold spot approx. 6 to 8 inches in diameter with rain water coming through onto our food. YUCK. Reported the situation to Shack management… G.M. Was understanding and responded appropriately. Called H.K. S.C. Management waiting for a reply. This downright neglect of property maintenance is an atrocity. My hard earned money walks… Auwe!

Another nice little shopping center with lots of stuff. Parking is pretty good compared to other shopping centers.

shopping Center is fairly clean all the needs a little landscaping so you can use our company hawaiian landscape to help make that happen. You can also use a great stores that are local and have a lot of local products in us please support local and we will help our economy if we do those things.

Parking was super easy to get to. Only problem today was all the construction going on around the center and the main streets. It was causing a lot of traffic. But the center has what all the centers have. Food, clothing, fast food, department stores, and groceries. Nothing much else to say about it. Sorry.

Isn’t this supposed to be Hawaii Kai Towne Center? The address is right, I think. Maybe Hawaii Kai Towne Center is where Costco /Burger King is, and Hawaii Kai Shopping Center is where the Longs /McDonalds is? For the longest time, I thought they were one big complex called Hawaii Kai Towne Center. Oh well. Maybe I am wrong and Unilocal is right. I’ve come here a few times. The parking is ample, so you can get a good spot on most nights coming down here. Most of the time, I hit up Koko Marina Shopping Center when I come over to Hawaii Kai, but when I need a spice of change, I come over to the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. There is a variety of shops and restaurants here for your choosing. The McDonalds and Longs is quite convenient, and the Kale’s Natural Foods is growing in popularity. It’s like Down to Earth and Umeke Market, but located in Hawaii Kai. The Shack is where you would get your drink on, while the Phở 777 place had seen better days. I haven’t tried Blue Moon yet, but I aim to in the coming months. The Safeway is the anchor store to this shopping center, so you can do most of your shopping there, although the big gorilla Costco is down the street. It’s nice to see friendly competition here in Hawaii Kai. Whatever your needs are, you can certainly find them here at the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. B+

My grandma lived in Hawaii Kai as long as I have been born. However, she lived closer to the Koko Marina shopping center so I had never known that this place existed until recently. My friend lives a little bit past this shopping center so we passed it on the way to her house… and my husband and I both were like that’s where the Shack Hawaii Kai is! I never knew where it was and I assumed it was down some random side street. We came here a couple times already to go to Longs(picking up my grandma’s meds) and the Shack. Both times, it was so crowded in the lot that it was IMPOSSIBLE to find a spot that we could manage to take our son out with his baby carrier. Some of the stalls are really tight and many people park over the lines. However, this place has lots of places that I would shop if I lived in Hawaii Kai — Safeway, Longs, and other random stores. Very convenient if I lived in Hawaii Kai for sure. Good thing I am normally not driving because I would be so frustrated if I couldn’t get in the parking stalls.
