Odds & Ends Handyman LLC.
I was searching for a handyman to install a window AC at my studio. I came across Odds & Ends Handyman LLC and was impressed so I hired them for the job. It was a slow beginning trying to set the date because he was busy — but I thought that was a positive for a business to be busy must mean they have a lot of customers. He showed up on time and did the installation. He was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He explained why he was doing what he did so I had an understanding of it by the time he finished. It was quick and he did a really nice job. I was very pleased with the outcome and would recommend and trust him as a handyman to get the job done correctly.
The only reason I’m rating a 4-​star is because the original price I was quoted changed from the start up until a couple days before the actual date. but it was an error from the hardware store. Still very pleased. Two thumbs up!

If you know a State of Hawaii worker… ask…beg…plead them to refer you to join Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (HSFCU). WHY?
They’ve got higher than average interest rates on their savings accounts, ultra low interest rates on their loans and not only can you use HSFCU ATMs but you can also use Bank of Hawaii (BOH) without a service fee!

I joined this credit union thinking that I would be able to benefit from some of the things that credit unions usually offer that other big banks don’t such as good rates on mortgages, etc. The location is good and the employees are friendly but that is where my positive experience ends.
I opened a checking and savings account and was told that my checks would arrive in the mail «soon». A follow up phone call and then stopping into the bank in person to ask where my checks were revealed that they had never sent them. I was able to get some free temporary checks while I waited but I should not have had to ask three times for them to even be ordered.
They will not accept checks signed over by a third party which would have been great to know when I opened the account rather than depositing and having a check accepted, then taken out of my account and then a COPY of the check MAILED to me which will take a week to arrive. We’ll see if that flies at my real bank when I try to deposit this copy there. Also, when I initially opened my account I expected my bank card to come in the mail. After waiting a week or so with no card, I called and they said to just come in and get it. They could and should have issued the card the day I opened the account but didn’t.
They offered a $ 50 reward if you used your bank card 10 times in the first 30 days and when I called to ask when that would be showing up in my account, the representative told me it should show up «within a couple of months». Ummm, o.k. It went in sooner than that, which was nice, but the customer service folks on the phone never seem to know what’s going on with the branches, nor do they know their policies.
Bottom line, I have spent more time fixing mistakes made by this credit union than I ever did with my old bank and it’s only been about 3 months. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I don’t have the time for HFCU.

Just moving to Honolulu, HI, I haven’t opened a bank yet. The staff was accommodative and helped me as a «sister» branch to my bank. Was able to put in and take out funds without any major hassles.

I’ve been a Hawaii FCU member for almost 20 years and I remember when there was only the Halekauwila Branch. I am so glad that they’ve opened satellite branches!
This branch is so conveniently located to many of the state offices that are located right in the heart of Downtown. I was so glad when this branch opened since I could now just walk over rather than having to jump in my car, drive to the Halekauwila branch, and then lurk for parking in the cramped lot.
I’ve always had very pleasant experiences with both teller services, loan officers, and all other staff. I never feel rushed when making multiple transactions or that I’m asking stupid questions.
Helpful hint: Be prepared for longer lines during the lunch hour, especially on paydays, so try to go early when their first open or after lunch.

The Alii Place branch is full of the nicest ladies and gentlemen. When I was there recently the manager came out of his office, I believe he is the manager, and asked if I needed any help. My husband who has 2 service dogs were there and the manager said to come any time and asked if we needed anything. The other cashiers were all equally nice and pleasant. I have been here numerous times and never had a bad experience. If I have any questions or problems the cashiers always have the time to help and fix things. Great branch full of nice people.

Now, before I write any further, my review is about this particular location of the HSFCU, and not the credit union as a whole. That I leave for another day. Credit unions are hard to be beat when it comes to offering products and services to its members. After all, they are there to do just that, unlike banks which do have to make a profit. When it comes to the HSFCU branches, the downtown locations offers a convenient option for the state workers in the area along with the other downtown core workers that managed to get a membership.
Its location on the first floor of Alii Place is certainly not right in the heart of downtown, yet it is still rather convenient by all accounts. It is right off the street and just a short walk away from the bustling Bishop Street. It’s also close to some rather decent lunch choices so you can make it a quick errand.
They have quite a few tellers and they seem to be aplenty, especially during the busy lunch hour. While a line (not a large one) can form, the staff does a pretty good job of keeping the line moving and serving its customers. Sadly, this particular location doesn’t offer its coinstar service which is quite a convenience when you need it.
Since it is on the larger size, they do have all of the other services that you have come to expect of HSFCU with loan officers, customer service reps, travelers checks, and such available.

Works for me too because I’m in walking distance from my job, if you’re not working or living nearby though, parking kinda sucks… use Alii place parking or park by Iolani palace and walk down.

Hallelujah! They opened this branch about 5 years ago, and let me tell you they were a savior. As a busy Financial Planner working in the Alakea Corporate Tower, I was not able to get to the only HSFCU branch in town very frequently. When they opened this branch, I could just walk to do my banking. They also have the most friendly staff of any financial institution.
Now that I have since left the downtown area, this branch is still very handy as I park in Alii place (municipal parking) when I do business in downtown. If I have spare time before or after my appointments, I can just stop on by, and in no time, be finished with my banking.
