I’m a stickler for details. We knew we wanted solar on our unit. Our neighbor was referred to Hawaiian Electric, and he told us to meet with Chris. I didn’t want to be sold to from a guy who just wanted another install. Chris sat down with us, explained clearly what was involved to install it properly.
When we agreed to do the install, he handled all of the paperwork with the homeowners association, permits — all of it.
When the guys came out to install it, they were totally professional — and I was watching them every step of the way. It was just installed so properly, and it looks awesome. They made sure that it looked great.
I always felt that solar was kind of a scam since so many companies do it. But we are generating about 50+ KW on clear days this month. It’s awesome. Air conditioner on all the time, and we are netting out a surplus that we can use during the winter months when there is less sun.
Finally, I can attest that our bill with HECO is $ 17 bucks a month with our system, and that our tax rebate was about half the cost of the install. Our break even is in about 3 and a half years.
They went over and above the what is required in a normal install. They painted the conduits to comply with homeowner association.
We totally recommend these guys. Very happy, it was a great decision. A great investment.

I shopped around a couple of places. They had the best price over all. Excellent customer service. They worked with my Association. No problems at all. They took the time to explain everything to me in plain English. Gave me several quotes and options. Good quality workmanship and follow through. Only took 1 day to install. Very professional. My panels look Great. Works Great. My electric bill is only $ 17.00 a month now even with central air conditioning. The right decision I ever made.

I met with about 10 different solar/​pv company’s in late November 2012. I wanted to get a system in by the end of year in case tax incentives changed. Most estimates were competitve but no other company would even consider trying to get work done by end of year. I also discussed other estimates with my sales guy who educated me a little more about comparing estimates. I consulted many friends who previously installed PV and heard about a few bad installs. After discussing it with the owner of the company I went with Hawaiian Energy Systems. Within 2 weeks I was told they have a day open and the install was started. Took two days for install, HECO came out shortly after and electricians completed the rest. I was up and running in less than 30 days! A little bit of luck I guess but the company was professional and came through. The panels I received come with free insurance coverage in case the manufacturing company goes out of business, covering the remaining warranty. My system produces slightly more than I was promised-​hasnt been a full year though.
Good people, installed a good product. Highly recommend this company. Ask to talk to the owner Darryl directly if it makes you feel more comfortable. He came out to my house during the install answered any more questions I had.

I went with microinverters, ask the questions and it makes sense.
Canadian Solar panels-​come with insurance to back up warranty. wasnt the panel initially recomened but we went with it for piece of mind.
I overbuilt the system in case I want more air conditioning in the future. Produces MORE than we were expecting. Hello Central Air!
Owner calls me back 6 months after work was done. «We heard our sales guy was making a ‘math error’ on his estimates… we looked at your numbers of production and we feel we owe you ‘x’ amount more panels to make it right. Can we come out monday to add them?» Are you kidding me! I didnt even notice the mistake-​JUST AN HONEST COMPANY! I never even saw the guys, I came home Monday and had more panels and more power! This is what really made me want to write this review. Honest company.
