How is there only one review?! Well make this two. I have volunteered for HRFF for the last three years and attended it prior to that as a patron, but it gets better and better every year! The film selections this year were fantastic, the staff was hilarious, inviting, efficient, and hard working. They put on an amazing event. The receptions were so much fun and the actors/directors that came out to support the festival and their films were great. Was great to see familiar faces and make new friends during the course of the festival and I cant wait for next year’s. I love that it is an intimate space at the Doris Duke Theatre which is part of the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Just finished my last night of volunteering for this lovely festival, it was a very great experience. The HGLCF staff was very professional, sweet, helpful, and put together a FANTASTIC event. The whole thing ran very smoothly from opening to closing night, and the staff of the Doris Duke Theatre were super nice. All the films had something unique to offer and many people saw multiple films. A lot of hard work and preparation went into making the event the huge success it was and everyone involved should be very proud. I’m glad that this was my introduction to the LGBT scene in Honolulu. I’d love to see more people support the festival because it’s very worthwhile, plus you get to rub elbows with actors, directors, producers and other people in «the biz»(getting a pic with Larisa Olyenik, better known as Alex Mack from Nickelodeon’s SNICK lineup, was a HUGE highlight)! Job well done HGLCF and much Aloha to all the other volunteers and attendees!
