Jazzercise Nu’uanu

This is such a good class! It has it all and Janice and Ashley have such great energy levels. I have been doing J’cise since my 20’s and now I’m in my 60’s. The classes are for all levels, you just do what’s comfortable for you. The music and choreography stay current, but it’s not so difficult that you can’t keep up because the instructor cues the moves so well. You can’t help but have fun.

I love Janice! Jazzercise Nu’uanu truly has it all. I have been coming to Jazzers since 2007. When I started I didn’t know anyone and wondered if I was doing it right?
It didn’t take long to find out that there are many «right» ways of doing jazzers and it is up to you how much impact you want to do. Janice always shows the low impact option. This is a program for everyone. If you love music and smiling faces then you would feel at home here.
When I started I was in my late 20’s and couldn’t keep up with some ladies in their 60’s. I decided they were my inspiration and I wanted to be like them. Then I gained 67 pounds when I was pregnant. Yikes. That was a bad idea. Jazzercise helped me get back into shape and gave me lots of energy to take care of my daughter.
Lastly, Jazzercise has become one of the favorite parts of my days. I have met neighbors that I would not have met otherwise. There are so many nice people sharing my stories, laughs, and even tears. Jazzercise Nu’uanu has become extended family and welcomes anyone who cares about their health.

I used my recent Livingsocial deal for 2 months of unlimited Jazzercise (at certain locations) to reboost my exercise régime. Janice Lee is the certified instructor at this location and is super energetic and supportive!
The classes are held in the gym of Maemae Elementary School. Best access to the gym is go enter into the back parking lot. There is a lot of space with a stage and of course fans to help circulation.
The class members trend towards the older side, but don’t get me wrong, the class can make you break a sweat! Some of those kiddos were more fit than I was!
The exercise itself was a nice combination of cardio, strengthening and stretching in an hour. At the end of the cardio section I was getting tired and looking at the clock just to see how much longer we had (which was at around the halfway mark). My impression is that the music and routine will vary from class to class which is a plus for me since I easily get bored with repetition.
Overall, great work out, can self adjust and get your body grooving!
