My aunt is a patient of Dr. Joshua Tan ever since he took over for Dr. V. Kwok’s patients. Although he may seem to have a «light» bedside manner by being able to spit out some phrases in my aunts language, he doesn’t seem to engage in her health issues and is so quick to write out a prescription instead of giving her options in terms of dietary health for her well being. In these last few years, he has had an office in the Kaheka Bldg which only took walk ins and also an office at Queens, which took appointments. Unfortunately, he now only has his the Queens location and ONLY takes walk-ins! We find that there are ALWAYS long waiting periods and so many patients in the waiting room and also in the hallways because of his greed and unwillingness to truly care for his patients in a kind and thoughtful manner by spending more time with them. His visit with you is short, and he is great at writing a prescription for anything and everything! You would think being from Malaysia he would be interested in also giving you some insight to holistic well being. No go! I find that he is interested only in packing his patients in like cattle and his capitalism has gotten the best of him. His office help employees are helpful, but not always on the ball. We are constantly having to call his office to get refill scrips because they do not respond to faxes or calls sent to them from our pharmacy. Their telephone answering machine is always full and you are unable to leave messages. You would think they would be professional enough to have a voicemail that tells you what their hours of operation are and also be able to LEAVE A MESSAGE for them to return your call. Instead, I will be calling repeatedly until I get someone to pick up the phone! I DONOTRECOMMENDDRTAN as a competent doctor for anyone… especially for older patients such as my aunt who is in her 80’s. Is this how a dr should treat elderlies by making them wait hours for them to see him? Get a grip Dr Tan. Read less

Dr. Joshua Tan has been our family physician for well over 10 years. Not only is his staff very attentive and friendly, Dr. Tan always takes the time needed to make sure that you feel you are a valued patient. When he’s not too busy he’ll even talk to you about his international golfing trips and collection of Rolex watches. Recently he relocated to the Queen’s physicians office building 3 which unfortunately has a parking garage that charges $ 1 for every half hour. It’s not much but sometimes when Dr. Tan is busy it can add up. Every year around my birthday I get a full blood screening just because he recommends it. My cholesterol is always on the high side though under 200 and he always tells me the same thing, more vegetables and fish, less red meat. All in all Dr. Tan is a wonderful family physician and strongly recommended!
