Our ped said we should take our baby to Dr. Nagamori since it was suspected that acid reflux was a cause for crying & nasal congestion. At one appointment baby was crying loud since hungry. The doctor proceeded to put fear into us, while baby screamed, and pushed us into signing papers for an endoscopy. In the end, baby’s ped scolded us for letting Nagamori do the endoscopy. We never wanted our baby put under anesthesia or any biopsy taken, but we felt scared. Dr. Naganori made it seem like if we didn’t do the procedure, baby would not be well. We even called Nagamori to tell him baby was already on the same med he wanted to prescribe after the procedure but he said he wanted to do it anyhow. This was a terrifying thing for baby & us. Do NOT go to Dr. Ken Nagamori. When he was done with the endoscopy, he joked«you can put these pictures(biopsy) in your baby book.» After reviewing the hospital bill for the procedure, it showed Nagamori made about $ 1,000. I know my baby did NOT need an endoscopy & this doctor should NOT be trusted. ALWAYSGET A SECONDOPINION!!!

My son was born in KMCWC in Jan 2006. He was born as a full term baby with over 8 lbs weight. While still in KMCWC, he had blood in stool — and our pediatrician(Dr. Chunmei Wu) brought Dr. Nagamori(I was told he was one of the best GI specialist, the other is Dr. Wilson in Honolulu). They decided to keep the baby in hospital for further evaluation. The baby’s was getting worse each of day in hospital, he continued to bleed and his weight drop to only 5 lbs — and he was even infected with C. Difficile. Eventually he was sent to ICU after hospital found out he was likely developed to NEC(Necrotizing enterocolitis) before they were planning to do a Meckel test(on possible diverticular bleeding, not really this case though). Looking back now, I understand my son was initially the problem of milk allergy (very common cause of bleeding), and it was the hospital formula — that caused the bleeding in the first place. As they continued to feed the baby — the bleeding is getting worse — until it became NEC. Allergy test should be a very common procedure — but both our pediatrician and this Dr. Nagamori simply never tried to do so at the very beginning. It costed over $ 100,000 medical bill(most paid by insurance), and it costed my son huge growth setback. I was grateful that the hospital finally took action to take the baby away from these two incompetent doctors —- saved my son’s life, Make sure to have 2nd doctor’s opinion if you happen to choose dr. Nagamori

We were referred by our first sons pediatrician for reflux in 2011. I really don’t remember much besides rice cereal, sheep skin blankets and the difference between ppi meds and Zantac and miralax, miralax, miralax. Which is probably best, because random topics kept my mind from focusing too much on worrying, leaving that to him. With our second son, who he was seeing as well; he needed to stay in the hospital for a short while. Dr nagamori visited him. Before he went in to do the initial he talked to me for a bit. I was beyond confused, and felt so helpless with the whole situation. I was a mess. After talking to me for a bit, he went into the MRI room. For a split second, I forgot about my sons’s current condition and remembered, Apple cider, ewa junction and what in the world is the resident doing sending a g. i doctor into the MRI room during an MRI of the brain and spine. For the first time since my son got admitted I actually laughed, and I felt like things were going to be ok. He wouldn’t stop and talk about botulism and ewa junction if things were that bad. He is definitely different to say the least. But he has always had my two babies best interest in mind. He listens to concerns, adresses them, and then finds something so random to talk about. Even amongst all the random rants at the end of the visit, and strange life experiences, dr nagamori and his staff are wonderful. His nurse is very detail organized and efficient at what she does. In the beginning I was questioning whether he was paying attention or not, but later on when I got my son’s files and read the notes from dr nagamori to my sons PCP, it amazed me at how it was so well organized and on point as far as medical findings, care and plan. If I hadn’t got my sons records I would have never known our visit were anything more than med changes, weight checks and learning about Dr Nagamori’s college days.
