I love this place because my friends and I had a great night here. We went on my Thursday night, so it wasn’t busy. The service was good even with one guy. The sides kept coming. The waiter kept checking up on us if we needed anymore food or soju.

Yummy Korean food! Never been to Korea but because of seeing many Korean customers, the food must be pretty authentic. But I do know it’s yummy! Yummy foods include: spicy chicken, seafood pancakes, pork and organic lettuce and chives wraps, and seafood seafood seafood stirfrys. Don’t forget the Korean miso which is awesome on all sorts of meats. Awesome happy hour with $ 5 soju(with my girlie favs cucumber and yogurt sojus) and $ 10-$ 15 /hour karaōke rooms to sing my heart out while eating fries and marinated fried chicken after a long day. No wait for karaōke or dinner :) and practice communicating in broken korean-english-pidgin Check out this homely hole-in-the-wall for a cultural food experience. Extra spicy burn your face off food is available, or baby no spicy food is there too.

It was a Friday night, and my stomach was growling at 3AM. I was hungry, and I didn’t want the usual Zippy’s, nor did I want to drive through a drive-thru for fast food. The suggestion was Little Seoul, and it seemed like the perfect place for a group of about 10 people. Little Seoul is a small little hole-in-the-wall restaurant located off the corner near Wal-Mart. There are a few parking spaces in front of the establishment, but late at night, when everyone else is looking for a place to eat or karaōke(yes! Little Seoul has karaōke upstairs of their little lounge area for food), you’re better off parking on the street next to Wal-Mart, and walking across the street. So the menu here consists of your typical Korean food, so I decided to order the stir fry, which you cook yourself on the tabletop. Another person in our party ordered the spicy pork with tofu. Honestly, for the price… I wasn’t that full. The stir fry was about $ 40, and there wasn’t that much that came with it. The spicy pork should have been called kimchee with tofu, because I kept picking at it, and never once did I get a piece of pork. While the food was okay, the price was not worth it at all. The seemed to be pretty stingy with the meat compared to other Korean restaurants that I’ve visited. Granted, these Korean restaurants aren’t open basically 24 hours, however when the dish is called spicy pork with tofu… there should be a fair amount of pork. The service was a bit slow, however… it was pretty busy for such a late time, and there was only one server. You have to give that chick credit for taking care of so many tables of drunk people and serving them food.

Unilocal 365 challenge #13/365 looking for a post 4am spot… this place is a very nice place to chill and wait for the 6am bars to open… lol…kidding. but really. they have an awesome potato pork neck bone soup. a tad bit pricey… especially after having spent all your cash at the 2am or 4am bars… but your pickings are pretty slim at 4:01am… so grab some friends and share a pitcher and the soup: D

Alright, so you have to know this: all food tastes better when buzzed or drunk. Jack in the Box becomes a culinary delight. Liliha Bakery becomes a five-star restaurant. That stale bag of Cheetos on the kitchen countertop becomes edible. It’s a scientific fact, in my personal book. So what if you’re drunk, and you go to a Korean restaurant, and the food isn’t mind-blowing? Oh man, that’s not good. We came by here for an impromptu mid-drinking dinner, expecting it to be an upstanding place. It’s small, looks pretty legit, and it’s in the Korean backstreets behind Walmart: the Korean bar strip. How could we go wrong? Unfortunately, we were apparently mistaken. Though the menu boasted some unreasonably high prices, the food came nowhere near our expectations. The«serves two people» Kalbi was $ 28.95, if I remember correctly, and the portion was hefty but tasted like sadness and disappointment. Compared to Little Seoul, I would actually prefer to get a $ 16 plate of Kalbi the same size at CHAMPIONS. If you know how I feel about Champions, you also know how poorly I think of Little Seoul’s Kalbi. The other item we selected was called«Specialty Spicy Chicken» or something to that effect, but lo and behold, it was not very special or notably spicy. Yes, it was red, and yes, it was chicken, but it was just tomato-y and lightly spiced with chili. Texture-wise, it was mushy and super messy. Sure, I’m basing this review on two items, but they are two items I would have expected to be passable at any respectable Korean restaurant or bar. After leaving with a tab that exceeded $ 70, and almost zero satisfaction, I can’t say I’ll be back.

The hubby and I ate here TWICE on our 10 day vacay to HNL. This place is a one stop dinner/entertainment restaurant. The restaurant on bottom floor and karaōke on 2nd floor. Park your car once — and play forever! :-) So the first night, we met up with some local friends and had … dwenjang jjigae(good) galbi(good) ddukbbokki(good) kimchee jae-wook w/tofu(good!) and boochoo hobak pancake(YUM!) I heard the owner grows her own veggies and uses it for some of the dishes at the restaurant … can’t get any better than FRESH … organic veggies! the boochoo/hobak pancake was sooooooooo good! Almost as good as my mothers! That’s saying ALOT! The only thing that would make it BETTER is if they would chop up some jalepeno’s in ‘em! :-) The 2nd time we brought my hubby’s folks and we enjoyed the boochoo/hobak pancake(I wanted it again!!!) and sangyupsal … it was so~ tasty wrapped in the fresh greens grown by the owner … YUMMERS … !! We got the kimchee pork stew(good) and dwenjang jjigae again … ! ALLDELISH! After dinner — we went upstairs and belted out some tunes for about an hour … I’m suprised this place does not have more reviews … ITISGOOD … will def. go back … and recommend to friends!!!

Our friends just moved here from Orlando, FL and they’re obsessed with eating Korean food(well, they are Korean. Go figure. Lol) because they said that the restaurants are so expensive in Florida. So, I went on Unilocal to see what restaurants were closest to where we live. I looked up this place and the pictures of the food looked awesome! We had to go here. This place is on Sheridan st, at the back of Walmart. It looks like a dingy bar on the outside, but on the inside it’s set up like it is a restaurant. I’m not going to lie it does look really run down and it has a certain smell to it that makes you think it might be infested with bugs or rats, but I did not see anything crawling around so that it just an assumption on my part. But hey, hole in the walls are hidden gems right! They had a lot of dishes that sounded so good, but we got the extremely spicy chicken thigh dish($ 16.95), the seafood hot pot($ 37), and the seafood pancake($ 12). Someone had mentioned that this place served dishes that are only found in certain places in Korea and when I tasted the food, it did taste a lot different than other Korean restaurants I ate at(a good thing, no one just likes the same thing all the time!). Even the side dishes were different than I’ve ever had, They didn’t even have kimchee(though they did have a lot of kimchee infused side dishes). The food, in short, was absolutely wonderful. Yes, it’s a bit pricey compared to other restaurants, but the portion sizes are good and it fed the four of us. And by fed I mean we were stuffed to the brim and couldn’t finish the seafood hot pot, so it’s worth the price. The spicy chicken dish was not extremely spicy, and it was topped with thicker sauce with jalapeño’s and shredded cheese. This was by far the best dish and the first one to be polished off. I kept scooping the extra sauce onto my rice because I couldn’t get enough. The seafood hot pot is supposed to feed 2 – 3 people, but I think it could feed 4 – 6 personally. Besides this certain type of greens and chives(I had never had these specific vegtables before in a Korean dish, my friend said this is the flavors that are used only in certain regions in Korea) there was tofu, crab, shrimp, clams, squid, and mussels. The seafood pancake was ok, but it needed to be a little more crispy. I am definitely coming back. There is so much variety on their menu and the food was so good it makes me think I just found my new favorite Korean restaurant!

Little Seoul is where my friends and I continue our post-4am drinking. They serve soju + beer after 4am and have different types of soups. The soups are whatever. nothing that great(but after a night of drinking it’s all good enough). And it’s not in a shady area, it’s by the side exit of Walmart.

This place always gives me diarrhea and serious ko chu(pepper) ass pains but you know what? The food actually tastes good here. I love kamja tang(potato and pork neck bone soup) and this place makes a good one. I gave it three stars cause the soju is cheap during happy hour. I’ll come back when I feel like torturing myself the next day.

Oh how I miss this place. Good news is that I’ve found a place out here in Oregon which is very similar. From the décor to ambiance, I found a bit of comfort in OR. Although Jageun Seoul is in a shady area, it’s relatively safe to eat/drink at. I’ve never had any trouble although a lot of young little kids hang out here. I’ll be straight up and tell you the food sucks! Eat before you go, but save room in your belly for soju and Hite. They have soju in every variety, shape and form you could imagine. I’m giving it 4 stars based on loyalty. I could lie and tell you everything is fantastic, but it isn’t. I just feel very comfortable here and I’m sure you would, too. Between you and I, if you ever want to drink«after» hours, this is the place to be. Hawaii law prohibits the sale of alcohol in a bar after 2am, but you can drink til 6am if you wish. I have on many different ocassions =P Shh… that’s a secret between us, aight?!!
