Maile’s Lei Stand

The leis are absolutely beautiful! So many varieties and smells. Shame on you if you buy one from Walmart!
The best part is the lei-​des that work there are the kindest. Your heart feels good leaving that place with a sweet smelling lei to give to someone you care about. =]

I need to get a lei and I need to get one fast!
Well, if you ever thought this or maybe having some visitors from out of town, stop by one of the many lei stands just outside the airport where you have a wide selection of leis at very good prices. They are much cheaper here than the ones in Waikiki or the airport.
If you are a visitor, just head back toward the airport and follow the sign that says «Lei Stands» and there it is. You don’t have to go out of your way to find the best deal for leis.

Greet your friends with a lei, just like in the movies! Outside the airport terminal there are a half-​dozen flower stands. Read the signage on the airport road to get to them; they are right next to short-​term parking.
I had spent the weekend in Honolulu on a family visit, and I remembered that my wife wanted me to bring back a lei. I cruised the flower stands, each one with very beautifully made leis and the operator’s name in big letters on the back wall. I stopped at Maile’s because she had a top-​quality lei in white and purple that caught my eye. I knew it would look good on my wife, so there was no doubt I had to buy this one.
Customs and agriculture change from time to time, but I had no trouble bringing this one into California today. Happy Names Day, Margaret.
