I went to drop off my modem by ward center and figured I would try a place I haven’t tried yet. I chose mocha java café cus they had breakfast burritos and I’m just a huge fan of them. So I got a cup of organic coffee and the breakfast burrito and it was really tasty and filling. I forgot to say take out the beans since I didn’t want to toot all day. Lol It was still delish with the beans. It also comes with banana so u can feel a little healthy. I would come back and try the other stuff for sure. Cute little café and the peeps a nice and friendly.

Service was friendly. The coffee was okay. The food was lacking. The potatoes in our scramble were borderline raw. I couldn’t eat mine. We were in a hurry so I couldn’t send it back. Overall mediocrity.

Coffee was pretty good. Tried their cream cheese brownie and it was ok. A bit overpriced.

Healthier food and they serve breakfast all day! Smoothies, juices, and coffee drinks. Acai bowl is very smooth and creamy the way I like it, not sorbet-like that other places serve. Italian omelet is awesome(if you like cheese and pesto). My only complaint is that they can be slow, especially when they’re busy. Go week days or off times, not normal lunch or dinner hours.

I’ve been here numerous times and their food is consistently pretty good, but their coffee sucks. I always get a latte and it always consistently sucks. I’d take Starbucks lattes over Mocha Java’s lattes any day. If you want good food or good juices then definitely eat here. But for good coffee, go somewhere else.

I used to be one of those kids hanging out at Ward — everything from loitering by the theatre to sitting in the Brookstone massage chairs for way too long to reading books at Borders I was too poor to buy(yes, this was back in the days of Borders). Somehow, in all that time, I’d never been to Mocha Java Café. Well, now I am an adult too cheap to watch movies at Ward, depressed there is no Borders, and totally resistant to coming to the area because of parking. But I have finally tried this place. MJC weirdly has two sides for ordering. I’ve never seen the place busy so there is always ample seating. Prices are a little on the high side, but I like the breakfast foods and of course the milkshakes. The menu is way too big, but it’s okay. Options are always nice. Great place to hang out and have a snack or a lingering meal. Don’t try having a private conversation here though. If you aren’t sitting too close to the table next to you, then passerby walking through the Ward stores will definitely hear you. Docked a star for prices, $ 6 for a milkshake?! Dayuuum, but it’s so gooood. Peanut butter shake, peanut butter chocolate shake, peanut butter chocolate espresso shake. Sheesh!(And just to mix it up … strawberry banana milkshake. Yesssss.)

Long wait for your order, the fresh squeezed orange juice is watered down… For $ 6.95 a cup, you would expect quality… Ordered exactly what the menu said and cashier had no idea what we ordered, had to point to the sign… This place better get their act together… Maybe we will re visit and hopefully they change things around…

Nice place to eat solo. Staff suggested more cost effective deal when I ordered a soup and sandwich. Ground turkey chili soup a meal in itself!

One of my favorite places for a breakfast that is both sweet & savory(which you can see in my photos). They have many options available which include caffeinated drinks, french toast, waffles, omelettes, smoothies, and acai bowls. Freshly made foods and delicious. Lots of healthy alternatives here.

Nice to see a coffee type of place that isn’t that over-hyped overpriced bitter Starbucks. My specialty coffee was really good although I had to wait a million years for it.

My wife and I wanted to grab a quick lunch here as we were an hour out from our movie at Ward theater. We ordered the egg benedict and the chicken sandwich, together with two smoothies(a mango and a summer bliss). We got the smoothies immediately but were surprised that 30 minutes later, we still hadn’t gotten our lunch. On enquiring, I was given a clueless look followed by a check and the people in the kitchen hadn’t received our order. Something about it not being printed at their hand. Anyways, we had an apologetic manager who immediately got our order underway and promised to refund us the full amount. We felt sorry for him so we gave him $ 20 of the $ 36 total for lunch. He even brought a bowl of strawberries while my wife waited for her lunch. The food was nice and the manager adequately made up for the debacle with his kindness.

I’m embarrassed that my pic will show with this review but I appreciate honesty so I give it. Wait is too long. Quality of food is not always the greatest. For the presentation, amount and freshness the price is a bit too high. The drinks area has a limited amount of friendly workers.

Nestled inside Ward Centre, this is a great place to stop for a quick drink or smoothie during a shopping excursion! The café is located inside near Kaka’ako Kitchen. They have ample seating inside the mall as well as a small bar with stools. The café is also right near the restrooms and many stores. Despite being inside a mall, Mocha Java has a Hawaiian hippie feel to it. They offer a wide array of juices, fruit smoothies, acai bowls, teas, and of course coffee. My experience here is limited to the smoothies and teas. I love how strong the iced tea is; it’s always a healthy and refreshing option. The staff is friendly. There are rarely more than one or two people working, so patience is often required. Prices are consistent with typical coffee shops in town. Not a bad break option!

Don’t ever trust a café that claims they’re «healthy» but microwaves their food. I ordered a pesto chicken pizza with no chicken but the guy said I could get a vegetarian pizza instead. I got a round piece of bread with a salad and pesto on it. Also got the actual side of salad. I waited at least 20 mins for a pizza. The lady said«here you go» like I wasn’t waiting forever. Let’s also not forget about the«chef» sitting outside on the parking lot curb that walks in and doesn’t wash his hands before he started to prepare the food. Food was terrible, lady who gave me the food had no manners, and it’s not healthy or clean. Don’t waste your time or money.

Mocha Java Café is a great stop for a pick me up when you’re shopping at Ward. I don’t go for the food, though they have a big menu of breakfast items, salads, soups, crepes, and sandwiches. For me, it’s all about the drinks. They have great fresh juices with fun names. Try the Up All Night, Spa Trip, or Adrenaline Rush. For an indulgent treat, go for the Yaya Shake. Espresso, chocolate, peanut butter and ice cream, it’s super thick and super tasty – totally worth the calories and effort to suck it up the straw. Stop by to recharge and get back out there.

This is the message I attempted to send to the owner and was unable to do so because of malfunctioning web page. Aloha. We really like your place and have been coming here for years. Today we observed 3 out of 4 of the workers eating hand-to-mouth while prepping and/or cooking food. To see this lack of sanitation and improper food handling was unappetizing. Can you pls advise your workers to eat when they are not handling food that is meant for public consumption? Mahalo Tommy M

I have visited Mocha Java Café in the past and have enjoyed my service but this was not a good experience at all. The Mocha Java Café has pretty good food/smoothie items. My experience was poor sole due to the customer service that I received from the cashier. My Server as listed on my receipt was Jennifer, 10May15 around 9:00 am. My server was very short while placing my order, as well as throwing my debit card back on the counter after swiping it. If that wasn’t enough a bit later the table next to me needed a salt shaker so I gave them mine, when they left Jen came over to the table and took the shaker back and slammed it back in the holder on my table, never once explaining her actions or evening making eye contact. I will try Mocha Java Café again but I attempt to avoid this person, at all cost.

This is a review only on their coffee drinks. My go to place for coffee! I am a coffee addict so I am very particular but this place has it all! Out of all the drinks I have had I do like the«Maui Wowie»(straight coffee) but if you want something on the sweeter side i suggest the Espresso Milkshake, that shhhh will make you WAKEUP lol. I haven’t tried any of their food but I have tried their cookies which is also good(tip: ask them to warm it up) But this is a DEFINITELY a go-to place if you LOVELOVELOVECOFFEE.

After eating here many times, I consider this place average. We do go back because it’s one of the few decent places we can eat breakfast outside on the lanai and take our dog. Sometimes the food is good, fast, and hot, sometimes it’s not. I’m not sure but I have the impression that sometimes either they’re shorthanded or too busy to keep up. The coffees are usually good, so are the smoothies. The baked goods are all from Costco, not sure how old, I’ve never tried. The fresh foods like eggs, breakfast burritos, potatoes, and pancakes are usually good. If they could iron out the inconsistency problems for the good, I’d give them a higher rating.

This review is only for the drink as I wasn’t hungry to try and sample some of their food options. The drinks are a little pricey compared to Starbucks so I was thinking that maybe it would be tastier. I ordered the mocha frappé and was a little disappointed because it was a little on the bland side. It lacks that espresso taste that I was looking for. The service is okay, not that fast and not that slow either. I’m not sure if I would be back… if I will, I guess I’ll have to try their food.

Mocha Java remains my good ol’ standby for breakfast after almost four years. When I can’t decide on any other place and I don’t want to spend too much, I come here. It gets busy on the weekends but the staff is quick and friendly. The coffee is good and hot, and the breakfast is healthy and filling. I typically gravitate towards the breakfast burrito, but their scrambles are quite tasty. Give ‘em a try, everybody needs a go-to place for a quick, healthy, filling breakfast.

I have been to Mocha Java many times, but have never written a review on them. I must say though, after today’s experience, I will likely not be back in the future. I wanted a savory crêpe to enjoy as a brunch meal but had a hard time deciding on what I wanted. I asked the cashier which were the most popular where she pointed out a few customer favorites. She mentioned the Dijon Chicken Crêpe I had been eyeing before. I asked if there was anything else inside the crêpe like vegetables, or anything besides just Dijon Chicken. I was told, «Yes, there are many various vegetables mixed in,» so I bought one. I took my $ 10 crêpe home to eat, but when I cut into it and took a bite, I tasted nothing but crêpe and Dijon Chicken. I opened up the crêpe, and sure enough, I found no vegetables. Now I don’t know if the cashier was just misinformed or if the cook was new and forgot to throw in the vegetables, but I was pretty bummed. I even would have been fine with paying a couple dollars more to throw in some spinach and mushrooms. To make matters worse, the chicken was tough, overcooked, and dry. I did enjoy the salad dressing(the crêpe comes with a scoop of rice and a mixed greens salad) but nothing else was that spectacular, or even that tasty. This is not my first negative encounter with Mocha Java. In the past, customer service has been quite difficult to get the attention of certain staff members to place an order. Order wait times can be a bit slow at times, and the price is just honestly way too high for the end product you get. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning to Mocha Java. If I’m going to spend $ 10-$ 15 on breakfast, I could just spend a couple more dollars by going to Tango down the street and get a lot more bang for my buck.

A whole $ 15 buckaroonis to pay for an okay breakfast here. Le sigh, and oh yeah, my wallet says le sigh as well. I ordered the spinach, mushroom, cheese omelette which was served up with a piece of toast split in half. The edges were a bit brown and crusty. I didn’t mind the amount of cheese in the middle, but you know when you cook eggs and there’s a thin layer of it that gets brown and cooked to a crisp? That awkward, didn’t-think-that-was-supposed-to-be-a-part-of-my-omelette was there with my omelette, which made it a bit dry. Sadface. Of course luckily, it was only on the outer edges so I could eat around it. But if I’m paying $ 10 for an omelette, I’m expecting a pretty darned good omelette and not one that I have to carefully navigate around the overbooked edges. I also ordered the Alpine drink which was coffee with white mocha. I wasn’t very impressed as the coffee was on the weaker side and the sweetness overpowered it more than anything. Shucks. Next time, I gotta pass on this. Live and learn, people.
