First time I went there and the girl taking my order didn’t smile or greet, just looked at me like I could read her mind. I was hesitant on ordering since it was my first time there. but she just looked at me waiting for me to order. Wish she atleast smiled or asked me if I had any questions or asked if I needed suggestions… it was just awkward when I ordered…
I’ve tried the Thai milk tea and it was yummy!!! Everything expected to satisfy my craving!
Matcha/​green tea milk tea was disappointing… very chalky and powdery which made it difficult to enjoy my drink. Honestly, I didn’t finish it. Next time I’ll just stick to the Thai milk tea :)

I have been here so many times and I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed it yet. A friend of mine recommended this place to me because it’s his favorite tea shop. I had previously been going to Taste Tea and Coffee or Tea. I really like Mr. Tea better because of their taro blended boba. I always get it 75% sweet. They also have a great black milk tea boba and a roasted oolong which is lovely — smoky and sweet.
I like that there is usually parking here and I have never had a problem getting a table when I needed one. The girls are nice and really helpful when you’re deciding on what drink to get. I highly recommend this place.

Loved it! We were looking for a late night desert place, and this was one of the only places in the area that was open.
Good ambiance! Loved my Thai pearl drink and my husband loved his guava smoothie. There’s games and books!
Only downside is that it gets pretty packed. And since there’s games and lots of cool books, there was campers so we had no place to sit.
But for the most part, happy campers :)

Would I dare say Mr. Tea café is the best boba shop on the island? Ok, I said it. My go-​to drink is the roasted oolong milk tea. No matter how many other shops you go to, it’s never as good! They’re all a little different but it really depends on your taste. Depending on my mood, I get it with pudding, lychee jelly, boba, or azuki beans… Really anything goes well with it! When I’m not in the mood for MT, they have so many other options to choose from! The fruit teas and smoothies are delicious! I haven’t had a bad drink from there yet. I was feeling adventurous and even tried the sesame tea. Next, I want to try the banana flavor… Wish me luck!
Love the workers! They’re always so nice! I like the hip atmosphere and cleanliness! Convenient location and always plenty of parking!

Seeing and hearing all these great reviews of this boba shop in the very condo building my two friends lived in, I told myself I need to try their boba drinks. Well that didn’t happen until last weekend, first Saturday of April 2016. This place been opened since late 2014. I’m a late foodie Unilocaler to this business, but at least I finally stepped inside this place.
The parking stalls are really tight. Pray you swing it like a champion before and after you leave the lot. Props to my bf who parks the car like a pro as we made our entrance into the cute boba shop.
MR. TEA sign on the white door, We’re open. Also they are hiring more staff in case you looking for a job wink wink you college students who need money. Location is great since they are along Kapiolani Blvd so all the main buses like A and 3 come along there.
I was surprised that they don’t have much seats for hanging out. There were only two tables and bar seating for three. Majority of people buy and pick up to go.
The prices are reasonable, about the same as Taste tea, and Tea time Taiwan, and Bee’s dessert house. I had a voucher card from my bf so I picked the large jasmine tea with custard 50% sweetness. Don’t want to overload the sugar rush. I liked it that it was not too sweet or watered down. I want to try their other tea drinks with different toppings.
I noticed that about 7pm this shop get really busy especially the weekends. It was overflowing with customers after we sat down to chill out.
Onto to the next boba shop :) I’ll be back again!!!

[Location & Parking]
Mr. Tea is located right near the intersection of Kapiolani and Ward. It’s right next door to Green and Vines or right across the street from Jack in the Box.
Parking is free but it’s limited. I do not like the parking here because the stalls are narrow and it’s really hard to get out of. Be sure to reverse park to save yourself the headache of potentially hitting the wall or pillar.

The staff is nice and friendly. They were really patient with me when I wasn’t sure with what I wanted to order.

There are couple tables inside and outside. Most tables sit for 2 but I think if you have a bigger party they don’t mind you moving the tables together. There’s also a small area with bar stools.
The décor is somewhat hipster-​ish. You will see pictures of their rabbit with its iconic mustache which is also plastered on their cups.

I’m a sucker for milk-​teas and I think i’ve tried almost all of their milk-​teas haha. I usually always order my milk teas with boba and they’re nice and chewy and fresh.
Strawberry milk tea — It tastes like strawberry milk
Honeydew melon milk tea — It tastes like a melona bar
Jasmine Green Milk Tea — It has the sweetness similar to regular milk tea but it has a «refreshing» taste to it
Taro milk tea — If you like taro this is the drink to order. I’m not a huge fan of taro but to me it was too creamy
Cotton Candy milk tea — Very sweet. The taste reminded me of that bubble gum flavor with the yellow and blue wrapper that you get when trick-​or-​treated
Thai milk tea — It has a bitter element to it however there’s a sweet creamy taste to it
Pumpkin milk tea — The pumpkin taste isn’t as overpowering as compared to starbucks pumpkin spice. But you can still taste subtle hints of the that spice
Peppermint milk tea — The peppermint taste isn’t as overpowering as compared to starbuck’s peppermint mocha but you there’s hints of the peppermint and it leaves your mouth with that «chill» feeling

It’s one of my go to places for milk tea because they have a variety of drinks you can order. It seems like everytime I go, there’s always something new. If you go often, don’t forget to pick up a stamp card from them. When you collect 10 stamps, you get 1 free drink.

Located across the street from the Blaisdale center. parking can be found on the street (if you’re lucky), otherwise inside the structure.
No conspicuous signage like a banner. Just their logo (mustache inside a circle) right next to their entrance.
Interior has a good amount of seating for the size. Simple décor and hand written menu board.
I ordered a black milk tea with boba. You can choose your sweetness level. I asked if the boba was cooked or flavored they said it was cooked in honey and brown sugar (2 things which I looooooove). So I asked for regular sweet. Unfortunately I didn’t taste any sweetness in my drink. The caffeine from the tea is what stood out most. I should have gotten hella sweet (or whatever their highest sweet level is). The boba tasted bland to me and the drink wasn’t as milk-​like as I prefer a nice balance. So the drink wasn’t my favorite.
I ordered three cookies n cream macarons. Which were really good! The shells weren’t dry or crumbly. They had a nice texture. The deal was 3 for $ 6. And for the size it is a great deal. I ended up buying 6 more lol the only thing I would have liked is for the filling to be a bit thicker in consistency. Since it was hot outside the fillings melted pretty quick and got squeezed out from between the shells. So eat them quick!
I would come back for the macarons (I liked them so much they make this 4-​star review). But how much do I like macarons? Let’s just say. I’m willing to drive from Kapolei for them ;)

Onto our next boba spot, my sister chose the cute looking Mr. Tea Café with their quirky mustache cups.
Inside, the décor of the place wasn’t anything eye catching, except for their bookcase with Harry Potter books, Sailor moon manga, and spunky mustache paraphernalia. Definitely a great way to pass the time! The one thing that really caught our eye, however, was the large boxes of labeled powder flavors right behind the cash register. SERIOUSLY? Do they really want to showcase that?
My brother-​in-​law instantly rejected getting his own cup, but my sister and I decided to stay hopeful. She chose the jasmine milk tea with boba and I got the black milk tea with no additional topping, both cups at regular size.
First, the good things: the menu offers various milk teas and fruit teas; secondly, their cups and straws are made of a tougher plastic so everything just felt very sturdy in our hands; and thirdly, the mustaches are adorable.
The boba, however, left much more to be desired. My sister’s drink was way too sweet and you could barely taste the jasmine from the over abundance of milk. My drink was nothing like a black milk tea I have had before. In fact, it tasted like it was made from a tofu base. So strange!
Seeing those big boxes of powder flavorings should have deterred us. But I guess that’s what we get for not listening to our boba intuition.

Seeing as I’m not particularly a tea type of person (meaning I don’t usually go out of my way to stop off at tea/​boba places), I haven’t visited the Mr. Tea Café, especially since it is not in my neck of the woods where I live. But when I am at work and if my coworkers ask if I want anything, I usually always respond with a «Oooh. Yes please.» And my order is always the same… guava smoothie (which pretty much means it’s blended with ice) with ½ boba at 25% sweetness. The fact that you can choose your sweetness is great, especially for people that want a sweet treat but are watching their sugar intake. I recommend getting ½ boba for those of you that don’t LOVE the stuff… because they tend to put lots of it.
The prices are decent (especially with delivery to the hospital), which includes tip. We usually give $ 5 for a small, and $ 6 for a large. Mr. Tea usually gives us ward clerks and the nurses a little happy pick me up to get us through our 12 hour shifts. :P Also, if it is any indication about their store workers… the people that deliver the drinks to us are usually always nice.

This is becoming one of my favorite boba places for sure. I swear I come here maybe 2 – 3 times per week because it’s that good and so worth the money. I like getting their blended drinks with tapioca. I enjoy how smooth the blend is and the boba– nice and chewy, how boba should be. The staff is very friendly and the wait time is relatively short. This is just a very nice place to relax and enjoy a refreshing drink! Great interior décor as well.

It’s great that they deliver. Only after 11am with a minimum order of 6 drinks and to places within a 2 mile radius.

Overall I would rate this place 3.5÷5 if I could. Tried this place out with my family after dinner today. I was happy that they had additional parking in a garage available. My family thought the cups were hella cute and durable lol. My sister and I were surprised how good the macaroons were. We tried: salted caramel (my sisters favorite), green tea (I wasn’t a fan), and red velvet (my favorite out of the 3). As for the boba, I liked how they weren’t too hard or too soft. I ordered black milk tea at 100% sweetness but needed to ask them to make it sweeter because the tea was really strong (not really my thing). My sister and cousin ordered the taro milk tea which tasted interesting but I personally didn’t like it. It tasted watered down to me compared to other boba spots I’ve tried. Lastly, the service was so-​so. The dude at the register wasn’t really that informative but I appreciated them making my drink sweeter with no problems.

Great service, nice variety, but I took off one star because Boba is extra. I guess I’m just used to it being complimentary. The place is quite small but has a long layout so they have 2-​tops lined up inside and out. Super décor; I was in love with the bookshelf.

Such a cute place to chill/​lounge around with friends or just yourself. They even have games you can play on their shelfs as you enter the store. Seriously, love this place!

I normally dislike tea (I know, such a bad Asian thing) and milk .
My sisters said Maui opened up the first milk tea place, so when she got back to Oahu for her fall semester she wanted to try some of the milk tea places here (more varieties/​more authentic??).
So I went to Unilocal and found Mr. Tea was close by to our house and set out on an adventure.
I read this place has parking (always has to be a requirement for me because I’m not trying to walk around in the dark… lol). The parking is tricky to find, at first. It’s entrance is RIGHT after the turn on Kapiolani (heading toward Diamond head). It’s in the building for residents, in a weird shape. Be careful not to bang your car. And it’s seems spooky! Good thing I wasn’t alone. There’s also a 2^nd entrance to the same garage on the street that runs parallel to Kapiolani & exits onto Ward.
When you park in the garage you enter a back door, it’s unlocked. You enter into a little cute café with about 7 – 8 tables. And their register is on your right. :)
Our cashier was… not too helpful. Workers didn’t greet us or asked if we needed help/​had questions. He just stood there and stared… hard. It was so awkward lol. The young lady making tea was fast and gave us our teas, and thanked us. Therefore, service (to me) was BLEH.
Besides that their tea is good. I got the winter melon tea + aloe flavor bubbles. The toppings are $ 0.25 each.

Friendly service! We were confused about the parking situation and the staff who answered the phone when I called was very helpful. She even asked us where our current location was and gave us directions from there.
The parking is in the same building. It’s free and there are Mr. Tea signs marking the parking.
When we got there, the staff were very welcoming and our drinks came out quickly. The pearls were cooked perfectly! Not too hard but not too mushy… amazing texture. All of these bubble tea places started popping up in Hawai’i after I left to live on the mainland so I was a bit skeptical about their quality compared to places such as Los Angeles. While it’s not exactly on par with tea houses in LA, it was definitely not disappointing and exceeded my expectations!
There are bathrooms outside but you need a code from the staff to access them.
I’ll be sure to come back, especially knowing that they have free parking!

The baristas are always kind and helpful, whether it’s answering questions about the menu or transferring stamps from multiple stamp cards. I had the matcha milk tea; I loved being immersed in the wonderful depth of matcha that wasn’t overloaded with sugar or milk. There was a nice balance that was achieved that I appreciate and look forward to in a matcha drink.
My friend had the strawberry milk tea with boba and he enjoyed every sip of it. Both very refreshing drinks.
Downside is the lack and difficulty of parking, and the limited seating space may not comfortably accommodate groups larger than four or five, depending on how busy it is at a given time.
8/​10, would recommend!

While milk tea establishments are popping up everywhere, it makes more of a tough decision to decide where I’m spending my broke student funds. Although you may think, «Milk Tea, there’s no difference where you go» let me already stop you in your tracks…
It’s all about the appearance of the establishment, the staff that serves you, and of course the milk tea product itself. What separates Mr. Tea from most, besides the known stamp of a mustache on the cup, is their wide assortment of offerings. This was probably the first place I came across that offers hot milk tea and chia seeds as a added side.
Oolong, jasmine, matcha, almond, or just plain milk tea will keep me quiet and happy for the next few hours. When ordering, I recommend just doing half sugar since it’s already pretty sweet.
If you’re going for almond, try it with pudding, half sweet. It’s like an almond float drink that will blow your mind. I could even do less sweet which is less than half and still gives that tea taste leaving with a hint aroma of almond. Less sugar, still great flavor & at an affordable price. Although prices seem high, it’s still under $ 5 for a large and love they do stamp cards for frequent customers.
Sadly, the only downside is their parking. Because it’s in the 909 building on Kapiolani, stalls are very limited. It’s about four stalls far in & three/​four stalls near the entrance to the parking lot. Because they share with other businesses, it sucks but with no surprise you won’t find parking. You could on Kapiolani after traffic hours, but sometimes even that is a long shot when it’s close to dinner time.

All the employees are really nice and helpful. The teas are delicious. Sometimes it’s freezing in there but it’s worth sticking around. Nice relaxed atmosphere with occasional rushes.
Outside seating too.
My personal faves are the Black milk tea and the Taro milk tea! But I can never do more than about 50−75% sweetness… but that’s just personal preference. Yumm!

One of my fave milk tea shops. I’ve tried a few of their flavors, and they all tasted good. I order the 25% sweetness level, and it’s just right for me. Everything tastes fresh.
Not a big boba-​guy, but it’s good here. The owner painstakingly prepares the boba in small batches, so it’s always fresh. Best I’ve had.
The shop is cool & modern with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is really good.

Wanted to try a new bubble drink place & glad I chose this one. I refuse on getting any other flavor than taro unless they don’t have it, but which bubble drink place wouldn’t? I got the taro milk tea with 50% less sugar. Just the right amount of sweetness. However, I would have liked to have a little less ice than I got.
The cups are really cute and they also have macaroons and other pastries to have with your drink. Very limited seating inside. I was hoping this would be a new study place but I think I would just come here for just the drinks instead.

Movember, everyone’s beloved Month of the Mustache, is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than to get your bubble tea fix with a shop that knows how to mustache.
Well thankfully, Mr. Tea Café is as delicious and fun as it is hairy. In addition to standard milk tea flavors, there are unique treats that are quite addicting. My personal favorite? The cotton candy with custard. Macha milk tea with custard also goes well together, and the toppings are just the right sweetness to avoid complete bounce-​off-​the-​wall-​syndrome.
Almond milk is offered as an alternative to 2% and cream for those who prefer a non-​dairy alternative.
There are so many flavors and toppings that you can stroke your mustache over 50 times before making a final decision. Well, worry not because you can get a recommendation for just the right flavor.
Macaroons are also perfect and tasty. Such a great buy for your evening study group sessions.
Every drink is stamped with a mustache. You can also draw a beard on your lid if you so please. The possibilities are endless when you mustache with pride.
P. S. Don’t worry about getting mustache hairs in your drink. Every drink is stamped with a mustache, but not really.

I had just ran two and a half miles, and downed a passion iced tea from Starbucks. I was still parched so I ended up Unilocaling a spot. The weird thing for me is that I could not see the signage for this establishment. Maybe because it was 7pm and dark. All I saw was a red light circling the word open, that made me inquisitive as I saw water and rock stars offered by the counter. I knew there was a vegetarian raw eatery on the corner. I just thought it stretched across.

I entered and looked at the menu. All I wanted was a fruity ice tea that has not been pre-​made with sugar. There was options of various syrups to pick from to mix into milk teas and smoothies. As for ice teas there was only a few ranging from, jasmine, oolong, black, and winter melon.
I had asked if it was possible to order the white peach oolong cold. Unfortunately it was not. Darn. They only made it hot. I was then informed that I was able to sweeten up my ice tea with their peach syrup. Don’t get me wrong, I love being adventurous sweetening up my drinks and adding mochi. But, tonight I just wanted natural fruit tea lol.
Anywho, I ended up with a regular ice jasmine with truvia. It was refreshing. I love the packaging of the mustache. It’s very cute. I’ll be back to try their green apple smoothie. It sounds delicious. And customer service was an A+.

I had to come to this place a lot before it finally started to grow on me. I was actually forced to start liking it because my friends always want to come here. After going through a long process of trial and error, albeit mostly error (cotton candy, banana, SWEET POTATO), I finally found some items on the menu that I’m okay with ordering like the Thai milk tea or fruit smoothies. The atmosphere is really nice though, and there’s free wi-​fi.
I really wish they’d start selling Earl Grey or fix up the sweet potato flavor, then this place could really win me over.

I’ve been here quite a few times. Very pleased. As far as the basics:
Parking — I come here between 7pm-​10pm and I’ve always found parking in their garage.
Interior — This place has relaxed vibe. Seating indoors and outdoors.
Service — Friendly and efficient.
I typically get a Lychee Smoothie or a Jasmine Iced Tea @ 25%. The Lychee was fine and tasted like any other in town. The Jasmine is always ice cold and just right in terms of strength. The boba is always fresh and the texture is consistent.
Excellent casual let’s get together for tea first date place. The interior noise level was enough to hear the person across from you, but not feel like others could eavesdrop. If all goes well, you could turn it into a dinner date at Green and Vines next door.
They just do everything right. While I like the fresh smoothies at Shaka Shaka better, for the lower price of powdered smoothies, I’ll keep coming back here.

I went to Mr. Tea Café (MTC) twice within the last month — once with the boyfriend and once with a good friend.
The BF and I actually stumbled upon this cute café by accident. We had dinner at Doraku Sushi and were enjoying a peaceful evening stroll – and ironically, we had planned to get boba later that night – but we came across of MTC and I was drawn to it immediately because of the logo. It was simplistic and intriguing at the same time, and when we looked through the glass windows, we saw that they did, indeed, carry boba.
The menu here isn’t as extensive as it is at other boba shops, but there was still plenty to choose from (aka, I still needed to think about my selection). This is a great spot if you’re in the mood for traditional Taiwanese tea, but they also carry iced tea, smoothies and hot teas, as well as an assortment of bakery items. During my first trip here, they didn’t feature too many macaron flavors (guess they were running out because it was already Saturday evening), but potential flavors include chocolate, coffee, red velvet, cookies and cream and cinnamon bun (those are all the ones that I know I want to try). At $ 2.25 for one macaron, it seemed a little pricy, though, so the BF and I just settled for boba that day. But it’s good to know that MTC also features different sandwiches in case you want a more substantial meal.
I loved the feel of this café because it was well lit and there were a few tables, and the atmosphere itself seemed calm and pleasant. When I went with the boyfriend, we sat at the counter (facing the sidewalk) and were able to enjoy our drinks and watch the cars rushing down Kapiolani. When I went with my friend later on a Friday afternoon, the café was definitely crowded – we got the last available table on the inside – and there was a steady stream of customers going in and out. I was just glad we were able to sit inside because it was so muggy outside.
Note: Definitely ask for that loyalty card, because you get that 10^th drink free! Also, I like the ordering system at this café because you can adjust the sweetness of your tea by percentage; ideal if you like your milk tea less sweet (like the boyfriend) or on the sweeter side (like me).
Parking: You can park on the street, but there is limited parking in the building that the café is in. However, the stalls are pretty tight and I was really fortunate to even get a parking. The customer stalls are only on the first level; you can’t park on the second level because that’s for residents and guests.
Here’s what we got during both of my trips to MTC so far.
«Guava Smoothie»: I think this may have been a special for the day, because I didn’t see it on the regular menu later (unless the boyfriend ordered passionfruit and I wasn’t paying attention). He got this smoothie with boba, and I actually really liked the taste of it. I thought the guava flavor was light and refreshing, and the boba was soft and chewy, but not too chewy for my liking.
«Chocolate Milk Tea»: I often go for mocha or chocolate when it comes to mil tea, so this choice was right up my alley. It reminded me of a colder version of hot chocolate – more like chocolate milk, the boyfriend said – but it wasn’t as sweet as it could have been (compared to other boba shops that I went to). I ordered a regular size sans the boba, since I just wanted something refreshing to drink. The boyfriend actually liked this chocolaty option because it wasn’t overly sweet, but it had just enough flavor to remind you that you did order something chocolate.
«Peanut Milk Tea»: I gave myself credit for trying something new from here, but I’m never getting this flavor again. I think I just didn’t like it because of my own misconception of what the drink would taste like. I love peanut butter and the staff member told me that this drink was really creamy, so I assumed it would taste like creamy peanut butter (silky, smooth, etc.). But, when I got the drink, it just tasted strongly of peanut … I definitely didn’t have the same experience as enjoying a peanut butter spread. For those who like that slightly sweet, roasted peanut taste, you’ll like this drink. I wasn’t really a fan, but I did branch out of my comfort zone to explore some of the other options on the menu.

Mr. Tea Café is one of the better Asian drink shops. They have a variety of teas served as milk tea, iced tea, and hot tea, plus smoothies. I like the Iced Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, 25% Sweet, with a Jelly or Aloe or Pudding. It has a nice savory roasted flavor and is lightly sweet, with more sweetness also coming from the toppings.
There are a handful of customer parking stalls on the ground floor of the Nine-​O-​Nine building, plan to get yours to go, or if you are lucky you’ll score one of the few tables. The shop is an oasis from the heat in the day time, with lots of light and a friendly atmosphere.

Super cute place with a good selection of teas and bobas. The girls working there when I was in were super sweet.
I like that you can choose how sweet you want your drink. I got a 100% will probably do 50% next time as it was a tad too sweet for me.

Continuing my quest for milk tea on the island! This is one of the better places we’ve tried.
We got the jasmine milk tea with taro pudding and tried the strawberry milk tea at 50% sweetness with custard. Both were really good and happy with our milk tea fix today! I liked the strawberry milk tea here better than at Taste Tea.
Would definitely come back if driving down Kapiolani.

Finally got to try those cute little mustache tea cups I’ve been seeing all over IG. Took me a while to find this place as I circled around and missed where the entrance to the parking area was. Parking is difficult here. When I got into the garage, there was no parking from the 5 or so stalls I saw that I assumed was designated to the store. So I circled around the block once more to see if there’s any other place I could park and found none.
I decided to go to another boba place in town and that was an unsuccessful trip too so I was determine to go back to Mr. Tea Café once more just so I can try their drink products. I went back half hour later and just my luck, someone just left and I got parking! Phew… I thought to myself these drinks better be worth it after driving around so much and to add to it, it was so hot that evening as well!
As first timers, my sister and I stood there looking at the board pondering what we wanted. I like that they have a variety of tea flavors as well as smoothies and the option of sweetness you want. They had a long list of what you can put inside as well for toppings. My sister got the strawberry milk tea and I got the strawberry smoothie both with boba and 100% sweet. It was too sweeeeet! I mean I love sweet stuff but in this case, we should of gotten it a little less sweet. I didn’t realize that they had used powdered flavor for the smoothie so that I didn’t care for it too much. Maybe because I’ve been so spoiled by only getting fresh fruit smoothies lately. The milk tea was good though.
Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is filled with some hip artwork and feels like such a cozy place to hangout. I hated the parking situation so maybe it’ll be a while til I make my way back here. I feel like it’s out of my way to come here though. I’m interested in trying the other tea options they have here if I do come around the area. Prices are quite reasonable. But for now, it’ll just be an A-​OK experience.
