Great service. Fast, knowledgeable and prompt. No waiting and one stop shopping for contacts and glasses at reasonable prices. Examination by an ophthalmologist is very reassuring.

I’ve been going to Ohana Eye(and Hawaiian Eye before) for 10 or so years. My vision needs always get met quickly, at a fair price, and with the highest quality. I got to browse designer frames and got suggestions for lens treatments such as ‘progressive’ bifocals and ‘transition’ shades. On my most recent visit I needed new glasses before leaving for the mainland in a week. My glasses were processed in plenty of time and drama was averted. Many insurance plans are welcome. The staff is efficient, friendly, and low key. As implied in the name, this is a family business with a history of generations of proven service on the islands.

WARNING: ABSOLUTEWORSTOPTOMETRISTINHAWAII So a couple of years ago I went here for an eye check up and an initial appointment with this practice, and they made me wait in their office for an ungodly amount of time even though I was on time. During and after my appointment, the receptionist was so rude to me that she actually insulted me, and I actually stormed out of the office after I was done with the check up without even scheduling the next appointment because I felt so hurt. Anyways, a couple of weeks later after suffering alot of headaches and blurry vision I went to Costco to get a second eye check up. Well, the optometrist there told me that the prescription this particular eye center gave me was off by A WHOLEFRIGGIN’ DIOPTER, which is why I got double vision so much! Angry, I wrote a scathing, detailed Unilocal review condemning this place, their lack of both service and competence, and would you believe it, the very next day it was taken down, apparently because The Eye Center immediately filed a complaint because I had mentioned the receptionist’s name(although I only mentioned what I knew, as in her first name only, so I didn’t think it was violating Unilocal’s guidelines). However, think about it… a business that watches their Unilocal page so carefully that they immediately try to take down any and all negative reviews ASSOON as they get put up… is that the sort of business who can really stand by their reputation? Bottom line: if you want to go to this place, go ahead at your own risk. Maybe the doctor has finally learned to do a basic eye exam since then, but I wouldn’t bet any money on it. Oh, and that mean receptionist is still working there :(Imo just go Costco!!! Oh, also, right after they had my negative review taken down a positive review inexplicably appeared at the exact same time basically saying«well gee, I sure don’t know what that guy’s problem was, but I LOVE this place! :D» watch out…
