Catered my son’s grad party here and the food was excellent and not to mention the quantity for the price I paid was awesome. Had to come back and try the other food items on the menu

Hands down the best plate lunch place I’ve ever eaten at! Their roast pork and gravy is tender and the gravy just takes it to another level. Pair that with their flavorful garlic chicken and you have a mean combo plate. It can barely all fit in the container and all under $ 10? Amazing! If I could eat here everyday for every meal I would, and that’s a guarantee. If anyone feels like getting me a lifetime supply, let me know!

Ordered their house noodle small party pan for a beach party, for 27 $ it was a prett good price for the size. I compared to some other noodle places and one plus one is pretty decent. Their noodles were so good. I definitely would consider coming again.

My family of 4 always get take out from here and it’s ALWAYS goood! I have my daughters 2nd birthday coming this Sunday which I’ve already called my order in for some party pans. We ordered from them for her 1st birthday too and everyone loved it! I even had my family ask me where I got the food from and they’ve also ordered party packs from them! Can’t go wrong with them, I’ll keep ordering from them for take out and our family parties!

When I’m feeling really hungry or indulgent, there are a few places that I go to get the biggest meals for the best deals — One Plus One Drive Inn is one of them. Most plate lunches are $ 8 – 9, with a two-choice for $ 9.50. So far, I’ve tried a few of the menu options, and each one is pretty hefty. The two-choice is where you get the best value though, as they pack it so full that you have to rubberband the takeout container shut. My favorites so far are the orange and lemon chicken. The orange chicken is fried first then sauced, so it’s always crispy on the outside. They use a lot of garlic, as you can always see minced pieces scattered throughout. Great for garlic lovers like me! The lemon chicken is a bit different from traditional chinese lemon chicken offerings — instead of batter-frying whole breast filets, they use breast chunks much like the orange chicken(maybe they use the same fry methods for both). This results in a mountain of battered nuggets that are perfect for dipping in the lemon sauce. The mac salad is nothing to write home about, which is why I sometimes opt to substitute fried rice for the white/mac sides. It’s $ 2.50 more for the fried rice and $ 3.50 more for shrimp or teri chicken fried rice — all are quite excellent. They have vegetables, egg, green onion, and kamaboko throughout. I’ve also tried the spicy eggplant chicken and garlic chicken, both of which were alright. Not bad, but not notable either. I always get takeout because the interior is a bit grimey and warm. Not a place I would sit down, but definitely a rock solid to-go choice.

Downward spiral. Been a long time customer since this place was on Kapahulu and they were always good. When I found out they moved to the University area instead of closing, I was a happy camper. Totally ignoring the menagerie of living and deceased insects on the walls, floor, tables and windows we returned because of the food. The food was good for a while, but the last few times the food was bleh. Being a loyal customer, I gave the cooks the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they were having a bad day. The teri chicken fried rice was the best on the island, but lately it has been bland despite all of the ingredients. The once tasty mochiko chicken has morphed into a sticky clump of congealed mochiko sauce and salt. So long One Plus One. You will bemissed. We’ll always have Kapahulu.

Had the roast pork w/gravy. Was good. Portion size was huge. Ate half & had the other half for lunch the next day. Price was a little over $ 8. If u ono for roast pork & hungry, try this place out. Will definitely go again & try some of the other dishes. Large plate lunch menu. Seems they do a lot of catering too. Saw people pickg up trays of grinds while I was there.

I’ve eaten at one plus one since They opened in 2004. It all started with the mochiko chicken. One plus one has been one of those sacred and obscure spots that people would come for cheap eats and wonderful choices. From years eating Mochiko Chicken, Loco Moco, And Their Seafood combo with BBQ Chicken they can satisfy. My father loves their Beef broccoli, loved when the rice gets small kind soak with that broth blended with the beef broccoli. Mother orders their Roast Beef, it’s one plate that cannot be finished. My sister and girlfriend loves that chicken Katsu. Oh so Ono . If your looking for a cheap and not too pricy place. This is one joint you can’t miss. The prices bumped but your gonna get that feed on baby!

I guess I’m a creature of habit… I’ve been to One Plus One many a times and I always get the same thing: a combo plate with lemon chicken and mochiko chicken. The combo plates come with 2 scoops of white rice and mac salad. This combination never disappoints! The mochiko chicken is soft with a nice crisp. The lemon chicken is served with sauce on the side, so the chicken doesn’t get soggy from the sauce. Prices have gone up recently, but at $ 9.50 a plate I’m happily satisfied for at least 2(usually 3) lunches. You can pretty much order ANY of their menu items on a combo plate, but there will be a slight charge above the $ 9.50 if you get any of the special items or seafood items in your combo. You can do a free sub and get greens instead of mac salad, or for 50cents you can sub brown rice for white rice. If you want to do both subs(aka make your plate«healthy») it will still cost you 50cents. Today I stopped in to pick up lunch with a friend who ordered an orange chicken/roast pork with gravy combo plate. These items were both good based on my small samples, and I love how the roast pork was basically smothered in gravy! I really feel like I should try more of the menu here, but its hard to stray from the usual. Although I did grab a catering menu today… since I am often drafted to help plan work lunches, I thought it might come in handy. There are a number of set catering menus, or you can pick and choose trays as you like to make your own menu. Parking is very tight, as the lot is shared with the Gourmet Liquors store right next to One Plus One. If there are no stalls available, your next best bet is to find street parking along Coolidge Street or Hausten Street and walk over from there. My usual work-around is to just go with a friend and have one person get out to order while the other searches for parking. This can also help save time as sometimes there will be a little wait if its crowded or they’re working on a large catering order. TL;DR — very limited parking, large quantities in combo plates, and bomb mochiko and lemon chicken!

It’s an alright place to go if you need to eat. Cheap, fast and decent tasting. Don’t use the Unilocal ordering system, I placed the order and it said ready in 20 minutes. Went there to pick it up, the order hadn’t even been placed yet, they were confused. While we were waiting our order, someone from Unilocal called them and placed the order. What should have been 20 minutes turned out to be an hour. I understand this was not their fault as we normally phone order ourselves, but we wanted to try this new Unilocal ordering system. Won’t discredit their establishment when it was obviously Unilocal fault.

The price for the portions, SUPERCHEAP/AFFORDABLE! I love eating here, I always order to go and even sometimes call in phone orders. My favorite is their fried rice . I must say, GREATJOB to the cooks who work hard especially since theyre always busy. Food still comes out hot and big portions and tasty!

I work really close by and often times leave home from work early to grab lunch here. Sumo Drive-In has been open for a few month next door. There are times I want to check out the food there but One Plus One’s consistency stops me every time. My favorites are the teri-chicken fried rice(huge portion), teri beef, roast pork, curry stew and surprisingly their spaghetti. They provide water and water cups in a huge jug for their customers and there is also a bathroom(upstairs, key required). It is never overly crowded and the air in the dining area is relatively cool. They always have the daily newspaper available which I particularly like. The only downside to this place is the chairs screech against the floor and the kitchen staff can’t understand a lick of english. Whenever I ask for the bathroom key they have no idea what I’m saying, most of the time they ignore me when I try to get their attention so I guess that is worse! In closing One Plus One has been a reliable place for me to grab ono food back when I was in college and still remains solid today. Maybe one day I’ll get around to checking out Sumo’s but the little things like the water jug, bathroom and quiet environment will keep me away for just a little bit longer. lol

Always consistent. Love the chicken wings and house noodle here. I come every week. Recommend everyone to go down and grind. I always go home smiling after eating here.

Who likes Chicken Katsu??? I do! I do! I do! Now who likes pressed chicken, for their Chicken Katsu??? I don’t, I don’t, I don’t! This is exactly what I got for lunch today! :( I’ve been to this small hole in the wall plate lunch place(near the Moiliili Longs Drugs), and I would say it is a hit or miss kinda thing. For today, it was definitely a «miss» for me. My coworker suggested we do a plate lunch today, and One Plus One Drive Inn came up… There is an upside about coming to this place for me — 1. It’s near my office. 2. Food is good(sometimes), you just gotta pick the right item… that’s the whole key! The downside about this place — 1. Parking is very tight… as the parking lot is shared by a liquor store. At most, maybe 5 or 6 cars max for this private parking lot. 2 The Chicken Katsu was a total tease for me today… and let me voice out my option about this dish. Upon going to One Plus One Drive Inn today for lunch, I told my coworker — «Let’s go early so that we can get parking.» Sure enough when we got there around 11:15AM, there was plenty parking, as there was only 1 car in the private parking lot. We walk in, and was greeted by the lady at the ordering booth. My coworker orders the Mini Chicken Katsu… so then I’m thinking — «Yeah Baby! Das one good idea!» And I proceeded to order the same, but take a regular size Chicken Katsu plate with Brown Rice & Toss Salad. Note: When you do order Brown Rice, they will charge you an additional $ 0.50. The grub — Although One Plue One Drive Inn serves up very generous portions of food for their plate lunches(I should have gotten a mini), the Chicken Katsu I got today was just so-so. What I did like about my Chicken Katsu was that it came out Hot & Fresh! They gave a huge portion of food, and like I said before… after I saw it, I wished I had gotten a mini plate instead. The Chicken Katsu was not oily, and the texture of the meat was made perfectly! What I didn’t like about the Chicken Katsu was that the Chicken meat was pressed. If you noticed in one of my pics, you will see the breaded Chicken Katsu piece, and upon looking at it, you will be thinking — «WHERE’S DAMEAT???» When the chicken meat is pressed like that, after deep frying it, the meat will become hard, and it makes it less palatable to eat. Unlike some of my favorite places to get Chicken Katsu — Graces Inn, Island Style BBQ, or Karen’s Kitchen… they do Chicken Katsu right! Like I said before… this place is a hit or miss… I will make a mental note of not buying the Chicken Katsu from here, and order something else if I come back in the near future.

Nothing really special, just like an L&L type food. Walked in one night and the eating area was dirty. Ordered the beef stew plate because I was craving, lots of corn starch in the gravy. Serving size was huge though but the taste was just alright, nothing that would make me want to come back. Service was average and also unfriendly.

My boyfriend started taking me here when we first got together over 6 years ago. He loved the variety and portion size. I remember being unsure what to even try; wanting to keep it safe. There were so many options, what would I like? Little did I know, the answer was everything. I always make a combination plate when here. Under $ 10 get you your choice of two entrees, rice & mac or tossed salad. There’s legit over a dozen options with choices like eggplant chicken, chicken Katsura, lemon chicken, beef stew, Teri beef, beef curry etc. my two go to choices are orange chicken and broccoli with beef. They remind me of my fake white box Chinese food back home & taste mighty good. The shoyu pot roast is on the specials board almost daily and is absolutely delicious. It’s seasoned well & almost always falling apart tender. My boyfriend is obsessed with the cold ginger chicken and eggplant chicken. The ginger sauce is a nice mix of herby flavors. Now when it comes to portion: they are more generous than I even think they realize. These plates are overflowingly ginormous and yet they’re super light on the wallet. I remember years ago our roommates at the time threw out our leftovers by accident and we didn’t talk to them for like 3 days. These plates are two meals easy! Bonus, The menu is available on the website so you can call in orders too. Plus they do catering! The location is very small & not fancy at all. There’s some tables and chairs if you want to eat in but your food is still served in takeout boxes. I appreciate that the food and prices have remained the same over the time I’ve been eating here. This will always be a plate lunch favorite of mine.

Most important to note: HUGE. PORTIONS. One Plus One has your standard fare plate lunches, all done very well in my experience. Whenever I come here, I’m always torn between mochiko chicken and bbq chix fried rice. Now I can get both(for an upcharge, of course)! Anyway, I also like the garlic chicken. Though it’s not breaded like at some places, it’s super garlicky and way tasty. They have daily specials — though I’m not sure if they change daily as I don’t come here THAT often. Usually when I look, it’s your typical oxtail soup or curry katsu, etc etc. Now that all that’s out of the way, let me tell you about how much food they give you. Hint: IT’S A LOT. During my last visit I ordered a mochiko chicken plate with fried rice subbed in for white rice/mac. THEONEPLATEPROVIDEDMEWITHTHREEMEALS. Granted, lunch is usually my smallest meal of the day but still. SOMUCHFOOD. In addition to the huge portions, the plates are also relatively inexpensive. $ 7 — $ 10 seems pretty reasonable for how much food they give. I got there to pick up food at about 20 mins to closing. They were still taking orders(yay) but they line kept extending all the way up until we left at about 5 mins to closing. It wasn’t even a weekend! Anyway, way better than most other plate lunches around here and for the price, how can you go wrong?

Best place for plate lunch. The beef broccoli is great and so is the Chicken Katsu, both which I recommend. Also good is the New York Steak combo, which is pricey.

Tried this place for a quick dinner before the UH baseball game. Food was okay, portions were big. Wife had the pork laulau plate, it was dry and tasteless…

Parking is diffucult here tho as its small n not enuff spaces… so we parked at longs across the street and walked over. We all liked this place and will be back.
