I loved their pan fried noodles. It was so delicious that I went back the next day to eat it once again. Unfortunately I live in Los Angeles so I’ve only had that dish twice. For sure I will get them when I visit Hawaii again.

(Dined 1÷10÷12TU): Something quick, inexpensive, and gets the job done in Waikiki! My friend and I have been walking, swimming, and snorkeling all day long, and we were dying for something local to eat but not too expensive. How we managed to find our way to the International Marketplace, and for me, Peking Garden in particular, I just can’t recall now. Things in around Waikiki proper were too touristy for us, and for my many years of coming to the Islands and staying with family while growing up, I suggested the International Marketplace as something slightly off the beaten path… although it’s still on the main strip(Kalakaua Ave.) that runs through Waikiki. While my buddy went for Korean BBQ, I was in the mood for some Chinese… saimin to be exact. So, after looking around, Peking Garden was the winner of my business. I ordered the pork saimin($ 5.95) and one of my favorite drinks during my stays on the Islands(and still today), the Hawaiian Sun Guava Nectar($ 1.00) drinks. I got my drink instantly, but I had to wait for my saimin. I can appreciate it being freshly-prepared, but damn, I was starving! I couldn’t get my saimin soon enough, but I was too eager as it was still hot and I burned my tongue — fuck! I tended to blowing my saimin to cool it off to a reasonable temperature before I made another attempt. As with Goldilocks and the Three Bears, just right! All the ingredients from the vegetables, meat, and broth was tasty and flavorful. The portion was a good size coming in a Styrofoam container, but I certainly could have eaten more as I was ravenous. As always, the guava nectar also hit the spot. The service was simple as there is no wait staff; place your order and wait to be called when it’s ready. Again, the food took some time, but not a big deal. Parking is decent, and there is street parking everyone. But I believe most people usually walk from their location or take a bus or shuttle. Overall, Peking Garden is an adequate and serves its purpose. It’s not fanciful food by any stretch of the imagination, but I see completely value as noted by the prices I quoted above(total bill was around $ 7 before tip). I was full so that is always a good thing. It’s Hawaii, so the atmosphere is totally casual. It’s basically a counter stand so seating is anywhere you can find it, but there were plenty of seats and tables. Unfortunately, they only accept cash so they don’t take my credit card of choice… AMEX!

SInce I had never been here before, I decided to try the food at this place. They do have a large selection of specialty plates. If you order from the picture menu, I believe they make the food in the back. OR… you can order off of the cafeteria style entrees that are pre-made. I decided to try the Beef Chow Fun($ 8.25). The portion size was actually pretty good. I couldnt finish it so I had leftovers which I had for dinner. The food didnt LOOK pleasing because it lacks any color. The food however, was actually decent. The noodles werent too hard or too soft. It took about 5 minutes for it to be made, but it came out HOT! The food was made with a generous portion of noodles, beef, green onion, regular onion, and bean sprouts. The sauce was ok. It wasnt too salty like some other places that Ive tried. On the day that I went, they were offering a special. You can get a side of rice or noodles, plus 2 entrée sides for $ 5.99. Its an awesome price to pay for the amount of food they were giving with it. Im gonna have to try that special on another day.

The food in the window looks basic, but the fact that the make my chicken fried rice fresh and their soups are really good too. They are reasonably priced with good portion sizes. I love this a a quick meal spot.

Cold fried rice + cold garlic shrimp + four pieces of lemon chicken + a server that seems bothered by your attempt to purchase food and won’t even tell you(or put up a sign to say) your choices don’t qualify as their ‘special’ until you’re ready to pay, adds up to a generous two stars for this establishment. My two suggestions for the owners are 1) to at least act like my business is wanted and 2) not serve food that the heating lamps have given up on keeping warm. After that we can talk about ambiance, signs for specials, etc.

The finest take out Chinese food in Waikiki at very affordable prices and large portions! It’s located at the International Marketplace food court. Lots of items, including soups, noodles, fried rice, chow mein, variety of stir fried chicken, beef, and seafood dishes — the stir-fried shrimp are huge for food court standards! Basically, it’s pick and choose three items or you can always order a bowl of noodles such as beef, chicken, seafood, or won tons. Prices are even cheaper late in the evening for the pick and choose 3 item order yet they’re still freshly prepared. How awesome is that?
