Wow! What a hidden gem! My BFF was buying a new bike across the street, and while I was on the phone looking out the shop window, I noticed this store across the street. I pointed to it and said, «Let’s go!» Two minutes later, we were inside. The inventory seemed like it had been around for quite some time, but when it comes to electronics and radios, newer DOESNOT necessarily mean better. Usually, it’s just the opposite. FORGETRADIOSHACK! I will never step foot in that terrible place ever again, no matter how badly I’ve felt for doing so when I desperately need a certain capacitor on a weeknight. This place has everything you could possibly need for electronics and radio hobbyists. I needed a new low-wattage soldering iron, and when I went to purchase a Weller brand, the guy behind the counter suggested a much cheaper(12 dollars versus 50 for the Weller) and equally reliable iron. That blew my mind: The proprietor suggesting something cheaper! Shortly thereafter, I realized the employees were playing Drum-n-Bass quietly on the store sound system. Cool! The inventory of supplies here is impressive. From old to new and in between, if there’s a specific part you’re looking for, these guys probably carry it. Best of all, it won’t break your wallet. The prices are very reasonable. Compared to Rat Shack, the stuff here is basically free. To top it all off, I live about four blocks from this store, so they’ve succeeded in securing a customer for as long as I live in town!

being a transplant from southern California, precision radio is the perfect cure for all the surplus electronic stores i miss in «wireless valley.» even though it’s not a surplus store(some things are old enough to be surplus…), the prices are very reasonable, the staff knowledgeable and the place is crammed with everything from crazy pro meters to heat shrink tubing to all kinds of colored LEDs. everything for the electronics professional, electronic audio enthusiast as well as amateur electronic hobbyist /tinkerer. All in an amazing, green, deco building that is a local landmark w/free off-street parking lot! «Uncle» is pretty slow with credit cards and the computer system, but very charming, knowledgeable and helpful. he seemed tickled that a young person was interested in hobby electronics and said«y’know, we’re a dying breed!»
