Not sure I want to give this secret away. Way better than the Waimanalo center and very helpful to share how to get the most money from recycling. Separate big and small plastics. Separate HI5 redemption from other glass. I’ll definitely be back

I’ve been here a few times. I read the other review for this location and had a totally different experience so I guess you roll the dice with who is working that day. After being ripped off $ 5 at a location in town, I adopted the policy to always count my cans /bottles before I come to the recycling centers. I only bring 200 items since that’s the maximum they will count. This location is very close to my house and it takes us a month to accumulate 200 items so it works for me. The Kalama Valley location is very convenient and rarely has a line. All of the workers I have dealt with at this location have been very friendly and courteous. When I visited yesterday, I had counted my cans as usual. The worker also weighed my cans and indicated I would get more money going by weight so he paid me by weight rather than count. So that was really nice. On a side note, the article in the newspaper mentioned RRR Recycling(the recycling company at the Hawaii Kai park and ride) was not exact compliant with the audit of the HI-5 program. I can only surmise why not but I’d rather deal with Reynolds who was compliant(or was not mentioned in the article) as an deviousness on the recycling centers part may cause the surcharge to increase again.

i always go here for recycling, there is almost never a line, today there was a new(to this location at least) girl working there, she put 5 trash cans on the scale to get the heaviest one, and zero’d the scale to it. Then she weighs my 2 cans 4.6 lbs ~ 3.7 lbs. here you go — 6.6 lbs. I guess is you skim a buck fifty or two from everyone that comes, you make out pretty good at the end of the day(maybe it’s the bonus for having to smell the stench all day long) i’ll be back, gettin ripp’d for a buck’s still better than waiting for 8~10 people in front of you, time is money
