Ross Dress for Less

The location is ideal but to avoid crowds, shop before 11am and after 2pm weekdays, or weekends. The people who work downtown flood the store during their lunch hour and it is packed.
I’ve found really good deals. I’m not going to be specific because I might give away my shopping secrets! lol But last week, a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction suede wedges were $ 3.99. Timing is everything because they get new stuff all the time and rest assured the people shopping during their breaks are looking for a good deal or two, too.
A few weeks ago, there were some people ahead of me in line with 2 carts full of merchandise. Ok, not a big deal because there were 3 cashiers. One cart was pushed off to the side and an Asian man came out of nowhere and edged the cart back in line, in front of me. He followed close behind the women when it was their were turn, his cart in tow. So instead of unloading his cart with theirs, when the next available cashier called «next customer», this fool starts to walk backwards with his cart to the open register. I had a feeling he was going to do that and try to be sly about it. I looked at the cashier and sternly said, «I’m next in line. He is with those women.»
I know that has nothing to do with the store but just showing that there are some funny people who patronize this store. Just beware.

I visit this location frequently. I spend a good amount at this location frequently. This location has great selection. However, I was so pissed off at my experience today, that I had to Unilocal this location.
I had a merchandise return. I enter the store and am greeted by a woman who stands at the podium at the front door entrance. I tell her I have a return. She says go to the left line. I pass by the middle line filled with customers and stand in the left line with only one woman ahead of me. The line has a female cashier. Her cash register holds a sign that says «Returns & Exchanges.» I don’t think twice about any of it. I approach this cashier. The cashier says to me «Everyone has been waiting in the middle line for a long time.» Shocked, I reply, the lady at the front said to come to this line for returns. I can go to the middle line and wait like everybody else. No problem. She replies, «No, it’s ok, I can do it for you right now.» I again, say that I can wait in the middle line. She again says, that’s ok. It takes less than 2 minutes to do my single item return.
As I leave with my store credit, a female customer takes my place at this register and tells me that they were all waiting long before I arrived and that I should have waited in their line, behind all of them. I explain the situation that the front lady said to come in this line for my return. I explain that the cashier at the returns says she would take my return after I said I would wait in the middle line. The female customer continues to loudly say I don’t care, you should have waited behind all of us. I don’t care, that doesn’t matter. We all had to wait and she goes on and on. Not at any time did any Ross employee step in to remedy the situation or to explain the policy on returns or the fact that the employee at the front door entrance instructed me to go to the return line. What did this idiot customer expect? That I wait in the middle line in hopes that by fate, I get the one cashier that does returns? Shall I wait in the middle line to arrive at my turn, to then have to let others behind me go until the returns cashier opens up?
I realize that the female customer was the idiot in all of this; however, the cashier at the returns register was an idiot as well for telling me that everyone else had been waiting. They did not have returns. They were purchasing items. Is it my fault that the employees are either way too slow, or they are so understaffed that they cannot manage the purchase lines?
Employees need to get it right. Either returns and exchanges are one line and one line only. Or everyone has to wait in one line for both returns and exchanges as well as purchases. Also, your female cashier needs to take a course on professionalism. Obviously she felt it appropriate to tell me that although I had a return, that I should not be in her line because everyone else had been waiting for so long for their purchases. THERE IS ONLY ONE RETURN LINE IDIOT!
But then again, your are Ross. What the heck do I expect?

Love Ross! Next to the dated shoes and clothing the selection of housewares is decent. It’s usually quiet here on weekends and you get a nice dose of crazy all around downtown.

This Ross has the worst customer service, they do not accommodate any request and could care less about the needs of customers. There are some deals there but would rather pay more and not have to deal with the attitudes. Returns are always a problem, no questions asked at most other retailers but not with Ross. I will just walk past on my way to Walmart, I’m done.

This Ross is like all the other Ross. Was hoping merch would be cheaper or different, but it was just like CALI or other places. I did a quick look see, but did not buy anything. I went to Walmart nearby and had dimsum because this is located in Chinatown. Still worth a visit if you need stuff. It was clean, organized, and good service.

This Ross reminded me of everything I hate about most Ross stores. It is crowded and unorganized with lots of damaged merchandise. People in the store are rude and no one offers any help. Will not be back to this location.

Seriously, who doesn’t like Ross?
While the items will naturally vary from location to location, the service, general layout and policies are consistent, which makes the experience generally great. As a guy, certain locations have better clothing options (and admittedly, women always get MUCH more clothing options than men, which kinda sucks)…but you can find unique and amazingly priced buys regardless of what you’re looking for.
One area that I know I frequent is the bed and bath section, since you can find excellent full bedding sets — sheets, comforters, pillow covers, etc. for a fraction of what you can get on the best sale day at other outlets.
Looking for stemless wine glasses? Get it at Ross for like $ 5 for a set for 4! Need an inset 8“x10″ picture frame; they got that too… need something spiffy for your wall; some art, an interested key hook, or novelty decorative planter… got it, got it, and got that too.
My favorite Ross is actually the one in downtown Honolulu… two floors of low priced goodness. And their return policy is excellent! Just keep that receipt and you can return stuff bought at other locations at ANY store.

I usually come to this location when I’m in the mood to shop for affordable, cute clothes or handbags. But the dressing room lady was extremely rude to me. I was waiting for her to help me and she told me to hang the clothing I wanted to try on in the most rude voice ever. Then when I came back out to return the clothes I did not want she replied to me in the same rude voice. That was extremely bad customer service. Customers want to feel respected. Get your act together, old lady.

I often find myself here during lunch breaks while walking around in Downtown Honolulu or along Fort Street Mall. This is a nice two-​story Ross right in the heart of downtown. But with so many locations in Hawaii to compare this one too, it’s hard to be very excited about it. At lunch time during the week, this store is bustling and busy, which is fine unless you actually want to buy something and have to navigate through the long lines. They usually have a good stock of clothing, but not as much with the household goods and other things I usually enjoy looking at.
The store is mostly clean. There is no restroom nor parking. It’s easy to walk here however, and Fort Street offers a pleasant pedestrian only option. Prices are the same as the other locations.

I love Ross esp this location … so convenient and their items are so affordable! They could have more cashiers at the registers though … lol!

Been coming here a lot but never written a review about this Ross location. Anyway, good customer service here. It’s pretty much if you find something, your happy to buy it. If not, visit again. Good prices for name brand products when available.

Mmmmmh. I’m not sure where to park but one time I was Walmart & got validated so I just came here… not too bad of a selection. I think they were missing a lot in my size — 8 in feet & M/​L in dress sizes, probably lots of people in my size. I like the Ross in Waikiki, their selection is better.
The cashiers are faster compared to Waikiki though.

By far the cleanest Ross I have ever been in. Tons of selections. Friendly associates.

Want to buy something for a reasonable price. Ross has great deals. Just need time to look.

This Ross is very clean and organized. I usually stop by during my lunch break from work.
It also has a huge selection of dog beds! I have to say that when I shop here, I probably buy dog items about 90% of the time. The prices for the beds cannot be beat anywhere else!

Meh … this location is alright I guess. I only come here cause they did away with Macys. and I needed a ugly Hawaiian shirt as a gag gift for my boss. We here at the office do Christmas after the new year hahaha
The cashier I got … could she be any more comfortable around me :/​I say that with reluctance and sarcasm …
She informed me she was a grandma … and proceeded to drop f bombs throughout her convo with me… I just walked away not sure how to take that all in lol I guess its better than dealing with the grumpy ones who act like they dont want to be there … right??? :/​
Would I come back here. meh. I cant say I will or wont. Cause if there’s another office ‘emergency’. it will be here or Walmart. not much options anymore in town. Sad

Ross Stores can be a bit like playing Russian Roulette sometimes its completely painless and sometimes you really do feel like you’ve shot yourself in the head. If you’re reading this and think I’m exaggerated, then you’ve clearly only found the good Ross Stores where things are organized like they should be and not the ones that resemble a room where they allowed rabid two year olds to tear through the shelves and place things randomly while bargain thirsty shoppers determined to save a dollar or two hunt for the perfect coffee mug, pair of pants and shoes all somehow in the same section because someone was playing Piccaso with their organization skills.
Thankfully this Ross is an oasis in a sea of horribly organized Ross Stores. I’m not sure if they’ve put up invisible fences that zap bad messy customers away or if they somehow transferred all employees of the year here but ALL THE AISLES here make sense. Its like the perfect Ross Store. You can find anything you’re looking for without thinking you’ve lost your mind. Housewares are with housewares, lingerie is with lingerie, and so on and so on. Its like a Christmas miracle n the summer.
Great prices, great selection, friendly staff and well organized. Thank you Ross for being the one Ross that doesn’t make me want to bring a flask filled of vodka while hunting for bargains.

This store is like hunger games, minus the cool weapons.
What this place does offer is a random assortment of stuff that you don’t know you need till you find it. I usually head to the sales section and odd lane. Their nail polish collection rarely disappoints.
I recommend avoiding the lunch hour and after work hours. If you show up at 2pm there are no lines and the staff has recovered.
I don’t recommend taking off your own hangers. Unless they start giving discounts for that!

This definitely is not my favorite Ross. I come here often mainly because I work in downtown and its simply convenient for me.
Ross is always a hit and miss. Sometime its a goldmine and other times it’s all junk. Service is always meh. Workers are never super helpful if I ever have questions.
My most recent visit was highly upsetting.
First of all, when I come here, its on my lunch break. So I only have a certain time frame to shop and purchase (check out lines are always long during lunch hours).
So I shopped around, founds a handful of things I wanted to try on. I go to the dressing room and of course is only allowed 6 items. So I put the rest of my items on the side outside with the worker.
After I finish the first 6 I then exchange them for the next bunch and told the worker I plan to purchase the first set of items and to hold them for me. After I’m done trying on the clothes, I go outside to grab my items to head to the register. However, the worker had ALL of my items RETURNED.
When I asked her where my items were she laughed and said «oh my, the other worker must of put them away! Hahahaha»
No. Not funny. I don’t have time to go around your store and search for the items I originally wanted. I also thought it was highly rude of the worker to laugh at the situation.

Working in the downtown area has it’s perks. This is one of them. I like how easy it is to find the mens area. Go in, head for the escalator, go down, take a right and BAM! The mens department. If I’m in need of clothes immediately, this is the go to spot. One day after work, heading out to 24 hour fitness I noticed that I left my gym bag at home. I didn’t feel like going all the way home so I went to Ross and bought a new pair of gym clothes. It’s perfect since the gym is located right next door from here. They got some really good deals.
