Haven’t been here in years and were pleasantly surprised that the service and food were so good. We’ll definitely be back. Crab artichoke and lettuce cups were the bomb!

Ryans is a place that is good for small parties/gatherings and very family friendly. I have two kids and it’s one of the first places I think of going where I can take the kids and have a beer(my wife is my dd). The usual favorites are the crab dip, tempura salmon, calamari, poke and more crab dip. Food can be a miss so after trying a lot of stuff I stick to what I like. They have a great selection of beer and very chill atmosphere which I love. Service is mostly good but can be a little slow at times depending on how busy they are. Parking is ok and you can park on the 3rd floor of the structure to walk straight over to the restaurant. Perfect for pau hana and small get togethers.

My kids and I just arrived in Honolulu and we met up with family at Ryan’s for some dinner. My kids each ordered the Keiki Cheese Pizza Meal which comes with an impressive sized pizza which was almost as big as the plate it was served on. It came with a generous triangle of sweet pineapple — a hit with both kids — a drink(the server brought both kids drink cups with lids and bendy straws) and an ice cream sundae for dessert. At $ 7.95, I thought it was a great deal and both kids couldn’t finish their entire cheese pizzas. Don’t worry, mom took care of that! Their crab and artichoke dip served with seasoned, warm bread has always been a favorite of mine and they proved today that time hasn’t diminished their great quality of appetizers!

I got the snow crab & artichoke sandwich($ 15.95) from this restaurant and it was kinda good. The sandwich was semi tasty and the service was great. Located at the Ward Centre, it is popular during happy hour among locals. Great, attentive, friendly service. 3.5 stars! Ryan’s Grill at Ward Centre is kinda yummylicious!

Nice place to hang out. Made reservations on Saturday for party of 6 the day prior using OpenTable without a problem and was seated immediately. Realized happy hour prices were only being honored at the bar … darn!!! No biggie cuz we had a great time anyway.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how much the service and food have improved since the last time I came to Ryan’s, about two years ago. Our server, Shayna did an awesome job for service, delivery of food, why the refill as well as smile. I’ve been to other restaurants with the servers seem like they’re having a bad day, but this was the exact opposite with Shayna. The loco-moco was freshly prepared, nicely served and garnished. The spicy fettucine was tasty and like the name said, spicy. Thick noodles oozing with sauce, a must try. I ate the french onion soup and cesar salad lunch combo for dinner. The salad came first, a little different in the cesar dressing, seemed spicier and with either some type of citrus mixed in, regardless it was a-ok. I’ll try the chicken cesar next time or a house salad. My french onion soup was splendid, I don’t need to say more. I left with my sons, very satisfied at the dinner! Service from Shayna made it all better. Thanks, we’ll be back.

I used to love this place… what the heck happened? First off we found an open table pretty quickly so that was the only good thing of the night. We were on a round table at first, placed a few drinks and happy hour food order… then wait and wait and wait. Took them about 15 mins to bring out 3 drinks and jerk fries. We then moved to a square table. Lihing margarita was melty but had good taste. Lychee martini looked dirty and the two tiny old shrunken lychee inside was pathetic! Did not taste good, boohoo. Fries was just ok nothing special and on a tiny plate, I remember it being in a big basket before. So disappointed. Half an hour passes my friend that got there later got her two food order first… crab artichoke dip was pretty good(only edible thing of the night) ahi poke(gross, taste old/funny) then waited some more. Two more plates came out duck buns(only two tiny pieces! Used to give this half duck before, shrinkage much) sliders(just mediocre) by then we were still missing my lettuce wraps and salmon. Since one of our friends need to leave soon we asked for the salmon over 5 times and still nothing, he need to leave so we asked for it to go… yeah he’s late for his actual dinner date then finally it is ready 45 mins wait! I’m pretty sure only take 7 – 10 mins to cook fish lol. So almost one hour into happy hour and it ends at 7pm, I finally see my lettuce wraps. Extremely salty and spicy… really not edible. My friend got the quesadilla that one is too sweet! Although they offered to comp the salmon that took over half an hour it did not make us any happier. Sad face happy hour end of the year ruined, we were really disappointed with the quality, taste, and size of the food. Needless to say I am not recommending to go back I felt bad since I told them this place is good, so sad it went downhill. I didn’t catch our waitress name but she was not very good on the speed or checking if we needed anything else. I never got a water refill. It’s back to Kinkaid’s for me. Oops forgot about the last side dish I got, um senior moment there. I tried the $ 2.95 Kim Chee fried rice with egg on top. Sounds good right? Wrong! No flavor, tastes old, egg too raw and most likely to give me stomach ache. Cross fingers for no diarrhea tonight.

So I’m not sure why this place hadn’t averaged at least 4 stars. Both times they met my five star requirements list: –reasonable prices dependent on quality of food –great happy hour –great customer service: accommodating & wanting to make sure I’m happy –reasonable wait time dependent on how busy it is –food –easy parking & hopefully free –environment & ambience –cleanliness Each restaurant has their own personality so I don’t rate it if one is more modern than the other. I think a lot if Unilocalers don’t understand that that shouldn’t really be a deciding factor. I like traditional feel. Now if your door is ghetto & falling off and your silverware is rusting, that’s different. Anyways, this place has great customer service, clean and the food was super good! Their calamari sauce is the best I’ve ever had. And their kobe beef tacos is delicious. It’s very spacious, accommodating and clean. I love the space and the relaxing atmosphere.

Waiter was good but food was kind of bleh. I’ve seen their menu before and I thought it was different. Would only go for cocktails and pupu, but not dinner. Wouldn’t go back again.

One of the best happy hours on the island– good food and variety, nice atmosphere, and cheap prices for what you get from 3−7pm daily. My favorite is the Artichoke dip with their delicious focaccia bread. This place is also one of the long-standing restaurants and a favorite for my family for special events or nights out too. We love their Crispy Tempura Salmon and Furikake Ahi the best. They also have a great French onion soup(make sure to dip their focaccia bread into it) and Pork Quesadilla. Overall a solid place for friends/coworkers for happy hour or a family dinner/celebration. Now that I’m in California, will stop by when home.

It was my first time stepping foot into Ryan’s Grill at Ward Centre. As I approached the entrance I spotted Edwin from Hilo and Anthony from Kauai right away. It was happy hour time which started at 4pm. My friend Judy managed to join us around the 5pm hour. Drinks: Both Edwin and Anthony had put in their order of drinks before I got there. Edwin ordered a margarita that had li hing powder along the rim of the cup. Anthony ordered a mojito. After I looked over the drinks menu I ended up ordering a lychee martini. The martini came with two lychees on a tiny sword. The drink was made strong and the lychees was potent since it soaked up some of the alcohol. Anthony ended up ordering a lychee martini as his second drink. Judy ordered a lychee martini as well. Pupus: No sooner as I gave my drink order the first bunch of pupus came. I noticed french fries with some kind of dipping sauce, another appetizer that I thought looked like fried onion rings turned out to be the calamari, and the last one had two steam buns with duck meat and namasu. There was hoisin sauce to go along with the duck meat. After sampling the first bunch of pupus I looked over the appetizer menu and the kalbi chicken wings caught my eye. Once the kalbi chicken wings came I started to just eat then I realized there’s three more pieces and I should ask my happy hour companions if they wanted any. They all declined. I finished the rest of the kalbi chicken wings. Judy ordered the calamari and sweet potatoe fries. Service: Edwin had mentioned that they started off with a male employee who took their order. I arrived it was a female employee who took my order. When it was time to pay our bill it was yet another female employee. The employees did check up on us to see if we were doing okay but I don’t think they paid attention to the water glasses to see if any of us needed a refill. Establishment: Ryan’s Grill gets pretty busy during the happy hour. The restrooms are located to the right as soon as you enter the door. There’s a full bar with many choices of alcohol to choose from. I also noticed flat screen televisions for those individuals who want to watch the games or fights. The table that we occupied was set for six people. There are other tables that are set for four individuals. Overall: A great environment to have happy hour drinks and pupus. Best to get there early at 4pm for the best seats or come back during the late night happy hour

Happy Hour is 3−7pm &9pm to close. The happy hour is only available in the lounge. Ryan’s Grill, offers discounts for appetizers. Ranging from $ 2.95-$ 8.95 My favorite appetizer is the Hot Crab & Artichoke Dip. It comes with onions, parmasean and freshly made focaccia. Another favorite is the Calamari with Black Bean Aioli. For the happy hour price for the drinks it’s priced at $ 3.50 for draft beers. I usually order the Blue Moon Belgian Ale. The cocktails are priced at $ 5.95. The wines are priced at $ 4.95, they offer house red and white. Service is a mix bag. Sometimes we are forgotten. We have to wave down the staff or hunt them down. Drinks have gone empty and we weren’t able to really take advantage of the happy hour since everything takes so long. If service was better and quicker I would give this place a better rating.

Ryan’s Grill hit the spot after a crazy but yet productive work meeting today. Being that my time was limited, I take it as a little bonus to have come here. My friend Anthony and I met up with fellow Unilocalers Jeana P. and Judy C. To those that couldn’t come, there will be a next time, haha! When we got there like around 4ish, happy hour just started at 3 pm I believe. After we got a table we figured get the ball rolling and get some drinks and some«pupus». I ordered a Li Hing Mui Margarita while my friend got a Lilikoi Mojito. Later when Jeana P. arrived she got a Lychee Martini. My drink was nice and it got me feelin’ great haha and I like it when I’m feeling great LOL! The food we got was nothing to rave about but it’s worth mentioning. We got all in all, including Jeana and Judy’s order, were Jamaican Jerk fries, Calamari with a Black bean Aioli, Duck Bao Bun, Kalbi Chicken wings and Sweet Potato Fries. It was my first time at Ryan’s Grill and it won’t be my last, no doubt. The service is great, the atmosphere is awesome and the Happy Hour selection of drinks and food is pretty good.

We’re always here for happy hour! Ryan’s has one of the best happy hour menus to go to. They have happy hour from 3pm — 7pm then 9pm to closing. Although it’s only in the bar lounge area, there’s still lots of table to sit at and a long window of happy hour always makes the best deal. I usually am here with a group of friends. We always share among what we order and end up realizing we ordered too much food. Our usual items would be edamame, sweet potato fries, kim chee fried rice, jamacan jerk fries, kalbi chicken wings, kalua pork quesadillas and hot crab & artichoke dip. All great items but the only complaint would be the kim chee fried rice. We’ve had it several times and all of those instances it was tasteless so after the 3rd try, I wouldn’t get it again. I don’t think I’ve ever tried any of their regular menu items. Happy hour prices FTW! Prices on happy hour are really good and since it’s a longer happy hour than other places, it gives my friends and I more time to hang out and eat more longer. The prices vary from $ 2.95 — $ 8.95 a plate and it’s meant for sharing so its good if you can get a little of everything to give it a variety. They have good drinks specials also for $ 3.95 draft, $ 5.95 cocktails and $ 4.95 wines. I’ve notice service here can be slow. There are times we get slower service than other days but possibly because there aren’t much servers in the bar area and it can get busy during happy hour but it’s still an awesome hangout spot for an afternoon drink or a late night hangout. But at least the servers are friendly when we come here. I enjoy that the restaurant has strong AC as we all know it can get super hot outside during Hawaii’s weather lately.

I come to Ryan’s for early morning football games because: 1. They’re open for 7am games. 2. It’s a hidden secret so there’s plenty of room. 3. The service is amazing. 4. Drinks are strong. 5. Great location with parking. 6. Variety of good food with breakfast options. 7. Air conditioning. Like, really strong. The list could go on but isn’t that all you want for football? I’m slowly plowing through the menu or at least the drink menu and would recommend the li hing frozen margarita though the Blue Moon on special is not a bad breakfast beer… Last time we got some blueberry coffee cake that I’d like a whole pan of please. Ive also had the pork bun(bacos) and loco moco that were pretty good. I look forward to many more games here as long as Shawn is our server. Unless all the servers are as attentive as he is. I’m not sure I’ve done a shoutout before but this is well deserved. Usually for football, service is terrible(at other places, just check out other sports bar reviews) — there’s the assumption that people are just going to sit on a Diet Coke for three hours and get a basket of fries. Ok rant over, Ryan’s you da best.

The service was excellent from the initial greeting at the door to the waitress being very attentive and pleasant. The place was very cool, maybe on the verge of to cold however it was the beginning of the lunch hour and not yet crowded. There is a nice lift music in the background and the décor is great. The order was completed quickly and just as ordered. I ordered the Kalbi Bowl which had Kalbi cooked to order, Kim Chee, cucumbers, bean sprouts/choy sum mix, and a fried egg over fried rice with Korean ketchup. The presentation was excellent as was the Kalbi and veggies, whereas the fried rice could use a little work. The Korean ketchup was a pleasant surprise and seemed like a ketchup/siracha mix. Overall a great lunch experience. I wasn’t a fan previously of Ryan’s in the past but this may have just changed my mind to start coming back.

I have a Love/Hate thing going on with Ryans… On one hand its nostalgia from my much younger days in High school when this was the popular place next to Compadres. That Crab Dip and Foccacia bread will always hold a special place in my heart! Then for a years it went a little downhill and i didn’t go for a few years because so many other restaurants were opening up. But I went last night, since I had a few Kincaids Gift Cards from last Christmas I needed to use. Wow I was surprised on a Thursday night for 2 people at 8pm there was a 20 min wait. So I quickly decided the Bar is fine. It was a busy night and the people surrounding us clearly were sitting there since Happy hour since they were very Happy! It was loud but that’s the atmosphere it was pretty rowdy and everyone was enjoying themselves. I had to get the blended Li Hing Margarita here, one of my faves. So Yummy! I’m happy that this place has managed to stay in business when so many places have been opening/closing up around them. We ordered: –Poke-Probably wouldn’t order this again, it was so-so the portion was pretty small –Buffalo wings-A solid dish from here, they have a kick to them but are very tasty –Combination BBQ beef/Grilled Salmon platter over Kim Chee Fried Rice, it was pretty the salmon wasn’t overcooked. Priced at $ 26 Overall-I’m sure i’ll be back again, its convenient and a cool place to hang with friends for happy hour and watch a game or talk story, or when I’m craving another Li Hing Margarita!

Ryan’s Bar & Grill is always a fan favorite of mine! A great place to chill with friends after work for happy hour(til 7:00pm), catch a ball game, or a late night happy hour after 10:00pm. The restaurant has ample seating capacity(indoor and outdoor), and ample parking in the Ward Center! Ryan’s displays a casual and friendly environment and great food, perfect for large groups! For pupus my personal favorite has always been the hot crab and artichoke dip, sweet potato fries, Kobe sliders, and seared ahi with ginger aioli! They offer a wide selection of appetizers, salads, meat, fish, poultry, pizzas, pastas and combination plates to name a few! And since you’re there, you can’t skip out on dessert! Can you say haupia crème brûlée or chocolate volcano cake? Yummy! :p Ryan’s Grill is located in the Ward Center, third floor. Check it out!

I met some Yeeps here for happy hour. It was for Maka and Cathy’s End Of An Era UYE. I really like their food. It’s tasty and it’s fresh. The prices are also reasonable if you come during happy hour. Their happy hour menu has more selections and variety than most other places. I ordered the sweet potato fries, kalbi wings, salmon kama and belly, ginger soybeans and ahi poke. The sweet potato fries were yummy. It was fried to a crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The kalbi wings were fried naked, then drenched in a kalbi sauce. The salmon was pan fried in a teriyaki sauce. The salmon was tender and the portion was huge. I wasn’t expecting so many pieces. The soybeans were boiled perfectly. I hot soggy soybeans, which these weren’t. The ahi poke was fresh and came with a sheet of fried won ton. The ahi was smooth and just melted in my mouth. Two thumbs up for the items I just listed. Jerrae R. shared her calamari and li hing margarita with me. I usually love calamari but it was kind of tough. The pieces were also on the smaller side. Let’s just say they put a lot of li hing in their li hing margarita. It was an eye opener. Liberty P. gave me some of her crab and artichoke dip. I could taste the chunks of crab with bits of artichoke and onions in it. Some crab dips have more artichoke than crab. Here, it’s more crab than artichoke. I like my dip with chips but this one came with focaccia bread. I sampled a small piece and the bread was soft. The bread wasn’t bad. I’m just not a bread person. I would totally order this but with chips the next time I come.

We ended up here on a whim as we left one of our friends behind who dusted us at the Honolulu Night Market. Don’t fret, she did eventually meet up with us! ATMOSPHERE: It reminds me of a cafeteria but with a big bar attached to it. Old décor, plain-Jane everything else. There’s a small outdoor lanai with protected seating with views of Ala Moana Boulevard and a sliver of the ocean. MENU: Salads, a mix-up of different apps, burgers, tacos, sandwiches, pastas, meat/fish/chicken entrees. FOOD: Cajun Chicken Fettuccine — Fellow Unilocaler Terry K. posted a delicious picture, and being a pasta fan, I had to try it. Overall, the dish was good but nothing outstanding. The pasta was cooked okay, the Cajun tomato sauce was good with no sweetness, but what stood out was the taste of the chicken which was excellent; spicy(3 on a 5-scale,) tender, and just plain damn delish. Fair portion size for the price. A nice recommendation for the pasta lover. CPK’s Jambalaya Fettuccine is worlds better IMO. SERVICE: Tasha was our server. Very friendly, informative, and professional. TIP: Their happy hour stops at 7pm but starts up again at 9pm till closing! We were stoked. OVERALL: Good food, great service. I hope they don’t close after they flatten the Ward shops…
