We only come here for one thing: dashimaki tamago. My daughters LOVE, LOVE, LOVE tamago. They’d eat it everyday if they could. Although tamago sushi is relatively cheap and you can get it any sushi place, my daughters, unfortunately, don’t like the nori or rice that comes with the tamago sushi. They usually just go straight for the tamago and end up wasting the rest(or I have to eat it). I’ve tried making my own at home(to save money and not be so wasteful), but somehow it’s not the same and they know it :-( Thank goodness for Shin Miyagawa in the Shirokiya food court!!! It’s one of the few(or only) places that I’ve found that sells dashimaki tamago. For $ 4.50, I get 7(or so) large pieces of tamago — just tamago — without any rice to waste. Great! Until I can perfect my tamago-making skills, I’ll be coming back here often.

Located in Shirokiya’s Yataimura Food court near the Mauka cash registers. One of four businesses that occupy a kiosk in the part of the food court not far from the escalators. I couldn’t really find the name above the counter. It must be written in Japanese. I’ve bought items from here 4 or 5 times. I don’t get the bentos, but I buy the individual items. See below. Speciality: I’m not sure but they always have assorted bentos sitting on the counter and at least 3 people working there. The simple bentos found here are similar to others that are sold at competing vendors. Prices: Average price for bentos is in the $ 7 to $ 9 range. Other individual items are in the $ 2 to $ 5 range. Vegetarian: So I’m trying to list the vegetarian options at Shirokiya. First, the«Dashi Maki» which is tamago(egg rolled up) for $ 4.50. This is pretty good and large. Then, there is «Oshinko Cabbage» at $ 2.99. The Kabocha is what I really like for $ 4.20. And right next to that is Kinpira(sautéed vegetables) mostly gobo for $ 4.20 also. I’ve also had potato salad. Quality: These items are good. 3 to 4 stars easily. They are competitively priced. So what I do, just like everyone else, is cruise around Shirokiya looking to see what looks good. This place offers some solid options and has served me well as I’m trying to put together a nutritious meal.
