SOho, OHNO. i just went to soho lastnight,. WASHORRIBLE. first expericence and i wont be back. It was like a dirty abandonded wharehouse with a bar. The DJ anarky sucked and had horrible transitions, there was a maximum of 30 people there mostly guys The only upside was some pretty chill bouncers and bar staff. the cashier stole money from my friend, and made some girls pay and some not. this place was not worth the cover. I’ll stick to KA or the Waikiki clubs.

Probably one of the worst bar/club in the state. The bouncers are always power hungry a-holes, who deny people whenever they feel like it. Cover is always too expensive for what’s pass the doors. Drinks are always watery… order a bottled beer if you want something worth your money. A lot of the time it’s 18+ inside so be warned, if you are like me and don’t like drinking with 18 year old shuffling high school seniors. Did I mention all they play here is overly loud and obnoxious electronic music? Some nights they will host events such as an inflatable slide. Wow that’s good marketing right there! -.-

I came here towards the end of the night with some friends, one of which was celebrating a birthday. This was my first time here but everyone else swears by this place. One of my friends knew the DJ that night so all the more reason to go, right? We got there around 1am(they close at 2) and still had to pay the $ 10 cover. But kind of a neat idea for a club. Call me a «haole» of a «mainlander» all you like, but I really wasn’t feeling the mostly-dubstep-vibe. I prefer«booty» music, which they did end up playing right before they shut everything down at 1:45am. That leads to my next issue. I love clubbing. This was the only club I have ever been to that kicked all their patrons out 15 minutes before closing. I mean, really? It’s bad enough most of the bars/clubs on the island shut down at 2am but to cut that even shorter baffles me. But hey, like I said, my friends seem to really like this place so to each their own.

Went here on a first friday around 11pm. $ 10 cover. It was a little bit later so the line took some time. Once inside, there were 2 dance floors — a small hip-hop room and a larger house room with a big stage. On the hip-hop room — it was small and kinda empty and the acoustics were bad. You can’t really hear the music because the house music next door is drowning all the hip-hop out. Not so good. On the house room — big, lots of people, and fun… if you’re into house. They even had an emcee to pump everyone up and keep the music going. Not sure if I’d come back here but it was cool to check out. I’ll try my luck somewhere else next time.

Review about the Hurley & Contrast Magazine 4th Annual Anti-Canvas event held at SoHo Mixed Media Bar: I’m a HUGE fan of Contrast Magazine; I love the look/feel/content of their print magazines, I’m obsessed with their blog & over the moon about the events they’re involved with. When I first saw the flyer for the Hurley & Contrast Magazine 4th Annual Anti-Canvas event, I screamed from excitement & after I recovered, I immediately promoted this event on my blog. Every time, Contrast Magazine posted another«The Anti Canvas 5 W’s» featuring one of the artists for the upcoming event & someone shared a sneak peak of boardshorts on Instagram, my anticipation grew. This unique event showcased boardshort art for charity, which utilized«sublimation» to transfer original artwork from 31 local & international artists onto a pair of Hurley Phantom board shorts. There’s some events, I look forward to attending for weeks & sometimes, the event doesn’t live up the hype, fortunately, the 4th Annual Anti-Canvas event surpassed my expectations. It was incredible to see the vibrant colors & designs displayed on the Hurley Phantom board shorts; it was also nice to see local innovators of art being recognized for their talent. I’m excited to hear how much money was raised for the Kokua Hawaii Foundation &POWWOWHAWAII& I can’t wait to see the lucky winners rock their one-of-a-kind board shorts.

Review based on the 5−7pm shift on a Monday evening.(yes, I get specific) SoHo is a nice place to grab beers(not for me though) afterwork and catch the game. There’s no audio but there’s a lot of seating and good appetizers. I had their steak fries with a garlic aioli or chipotle sauce and I also had their buffalo wings. Both were really good. What I really liked was the owner. Nice guy, talked about things they were doing for their upcoming event… Any owner willing to stop and talk to their customers gets a 5 stars in my book. We did have a hard time getting drinks from the bartender. She was extremely friendly and helpful but we did have to keep catching her attention to get refills on our drinks.

At first thought, I assume most people think of SoHo for all the nightlife events that are held here, ranging from hip-hop to EDM, and everything in between and beyond. I’ve had the pleasure of attending a couple events, and from what I remember through my drunken stupor, I believe I had a pretty good time. However, this review will focus on the real reason I’m a regular here. Fort Street Mall’s best keep secret, their deep dish pizza. I actually had a taste of their deep dish pizza at Mercury Bar, where it was being sold for $ 3 a slice. At that time, I was pretty hungry, but short on cash. My stomach beat my wallet into submission however and I ended up getting myself a slice. I opted for pepperoni. It was like I bet into cheesy, tomato heaven and crust was made of angel wings. I believe my lack of sobriety, mixed with hunger at the time attributed to the religious experience, but it truly was a tasty pizza. A few days later, wishing to have another epiphany, I ventured into SoHo to claim my piece of the pie, so to speak. The fates were against me unfortunately. My first venture for their deep dish pizza ended in wailing and gnashing of teeth as they had sold out the night prior and wouldn’t have pizza ready until that evening. Being on my lunch break, I doubt my office would appreciate me taking a few well-needed extra hours on break, in order to wait for lunch. Fortunately, my next trip was more successful, culminating in a supreme deep dish pizza filling my belly. I’ve only tried the pepperoni and supreme pizzas, but they’re all I need to satiate my appetite. Lunch time prices at $ 4 a slice, so you can’t go too wrong if you’re lunching on a budget. After hour prices are even better, with slices being $ 3 a piece. SoHo, I believe you will be one of the many reasons I need to get back to pounding the pavement.

One word for SoHo: Hipsterville. A few more words: Seems like a nice place to grab a drink and dance the night away!(And I am by no means a hipster) I like SoHo. The club has a great vibe and a good mix of people. It’s very spacious and roomy, but it gets really packed during peak hours on weekend nights. The last time I stopped by(on First Friday) the club was hosting some sort of game night. There were female models passing out merchandise and encouraging clubbers to play beer pong with them. Whoever organizes these events definitely thinks of some fun stuff to get people in the party mood! I really appreciate that originality. Prices are pretty standard for what you get. If I remember correctly, I ended up spending $ 7 for a Jack+Diet. I didn’t pay a cover, although I think that was cause me and my friends came early(around 9pm). All in all, I had a good experience here. I’d recommend hitting up SoHo if you’re in the downtown area on a weekend night.

this place is disgusting. I was there for a birthday party… we were in the VIP lounge & it was STILLDISGUSTING. the bathroom is gross & the drinks were watered down. I had a shot of patron and it wasn’t even chilled very well! also, if you come on an 18+ night, the place is packed with immature drunkys. the bouncers are constantly looking for underage drinking & randomly accuse people. my friend got kicked out because a bouncer THOUGHT he saw her take a sip of my other friend’s drink on the dance floor!

Came here for first friday before 9pm and it was dead. Came back a little after 9 and it was still dead. Came back at 10 and the line was long, good thing we got stamped. Now the party got started! My advice is get stamped before 9 and then go in at 9 something and stay there. This applies to any club.

Great crazy first club vibe. They always host 18+ events. Not to bad price entry fees, bathrooms are okay. Definately needs to fix air conditioner or just put it on full blast when the rooms get packed. There’s two different rooms that they always have two djs spinning. Depends on the night and the promoters on what is what. They sell food here which is great for stoners. But what I noticed is that there’s A LOT of little e-heads that come here. Not my scene, but when there’s like China Town events I’m down to hit that place up if all my homies are rollin’ through. I like it none the less. :) BTWVIP is pretty legit, the waitresses are great:) & The bartenders are pretty on it too! Only thing parking sucks go early and get street parking or be prepared to spend like 8 bucks.

First time going, I was mind-blown by the size of the place. Like what everyone is saying: 2 dancefloors, 2 music genres = pretty awesome! Hiphop and rave music. I can see why the line is so long for that place, reaching out to two different crowds or the eclectics. My only complaint is that people need to take it easy with the drinks, because the floor was gross and wet from spilled alcohol.

I’m originally from Southern California, and SoHo reminds me of so many LA and OC concert venues. Purposely unfinished inside with a stage in front and a bar in back. Exactly what I wanted in a concert venue. We saw a few bands play here and the bands were all great. We hadn’t actually heard of any of them before going, but will be back again for many more concerts I’m sure. What set SoHo apart from other concert venues was the second room. There are two large rooms connected by open doorways. Concert stage and bar on one side and loungey feeling bar are on the other side. So instead of being bore standing around watching bands tear down between sets we could walk into the next room over and get another drink and sit in a little bit different environment. A change of scenery between sets keeps it fresh. I saw posters for Deep House nights as well and will be back to check those out too. I’m always looking for somewhere to check out a house DJ and am excited to get back and see who they have spinning. Really a great concert going environment they’ve created and I’d recommend it to anyone that likes indie music in a warehouse type venues.

DANCE + FASHION + MUSIC – need to kno yo – — 2 dance floors — pay for street/parking garage — first friday hot-spot – oooouu yeeeah – two dance floors, with two different music genre. there is a definite mix of people that go here, but they all like to party. for the most part, there’s a good crowd and the place fills up. nice, friendly, efficient bartenders – ugh – if it’s first fridays, be prepared to stand in line… unless you know someone… and there will be a cover. no place really to sit, unless you’re vip – little insights – i’ve only gone here on first fridays, so it might be different on other nights. it started off with a pretty cool fashion show(from what i’ve heard), unfortunately i didn’t see it because i came a little later(10ish) and waited in line for over an hour. people in line(in front of us) that were leaving, kept saying they weren’t going to let people in cause of the«hefty» girls in the front of the line… but i don’t know what truth there is to that. if it wasn’t for the nice bartenders and the good mix of the 2 dance floor, i’d give this place a 1 star just for the wait. but it also has a cool interior… the lights give a nice character to the high-ceiling warehouse. i’d go back here again… probably on a different night though

I haven’t given this place five stars however I have no complaints. The customer service is great. Great bar… I love how there’s a lot of arm room. there’s a loooong bar which is always great! There are two separate rooms. The main room is the cool, hip mainstream one… and the other one is a little. I dont know how to explain? Techno, rave or something. not really my style but oh well… so it kinda throws me off a lil bit. The VIP area is pretty cool because you overlook the club and it’s really chill. Comfy too =D Be wary though!!! It’s really poppin’ on Friday nights(ESPECIALLYFIRSTFRIDAYS!) which is always fun… and SATURDAY nights which gets crazy! However the lines are loooong… So watch out! I always seem to bump into so many people I knew from high school, seems like a lot of locals go here I guess. There’s not much seating so if your feet is aching, go elsewhere. There’s like a couple couches here and there… comfy but very limited. Music is great… dance floor is a little awkward, I never feel like going near the dj that’s why. But overall really fun! For parking, Mark’s garage is RIGHT nearby… super convenient. I believe Saturdays are $ 10 though. If not there’s other places also.

Not my favorite bar in Chinatown, thats for sure. There is no beer on tap. None. What the hell? Also the bouncers all walk around flashing flashlights on people. It’s weird and obtrusive and takes you out of conversations. I’ll stick with Mercury around the corner!

FIRSTFRIDAAAY… Labor Day weekend! Super long lines? Check. Didn’t have to wait because we rollin’ local kine? Check. Crowded? Double check. Super sweltering hot? Check. The bright side: Hot inspires guys to rip their shirts off on occasion. Especially in Hawaii. It’s natural to be shirtless for dudes, so. uh, embrace it. lol There are now TWOROOMS since my last visit. Main room had one DJ playing regular club bangers, the other room had house & trippy green lasers beaming through the crowd. Misc reasons why SoHo rocks it: –Daniel Gray. Period. –Cool random fun shit. Past funsies(which I did not get to partake in b/c I was in L.A.) included foam parties, mechanical bulls. and most recently. a GINORMOUS freakin’ Disney«Cars» movie themed castle bounce jumper. INSIDESOHO. For Daniels birthday. Nowhere else in the freakin’ world EXCEPT SoHo Hawaii. That’s what’s up.

This place is the Old Club Pauahi! They’ve totally renovated this venue since. Knocked down walls and this place is Huge! Last I went, it was 80’s dance in one room and local band Grlfrnds in the other. Huge turnout and if any of you show promoters are reading… How does a band get a show at this place?! 4 stars Soho on Pauahi Street

This review is not based on any particular night per se’, as I’ve been here on 1st Fridays and well as random weekends. However, my disclaimer is that I abhor being closed into hot places, thus why I won’t ever be caught here when it’s full. If I see a line outside, I’m not going in. But really, that’s how I feel about any place in general… Disneyland in the summer time included. I just like the layout of SoHo. It’s multi-roomed and spacious. An alternative place to grab a quick drink and people watch. The décor is unrefined and reminicent of warehouse parties I’d go to circa 1990s and it works for the type of events they typically hold. So if you can dig mash up music and squeeze into skinny jeans, this place might be your cup of tea. My recap: Pros: –No cover or crowds if you a) go in before 9p b) go on a non-1st Friday –Huge space, I especially like the VIP area upstairs and the small pool table cubby to the side. Was surprised that there was another large room to the right(when you enter) with a stage. Had a cool art exibit, free food and drink last 1st Friday I attended. –Heavy handed bartenders =) –Ecclectic music and patrons, great people watching. Cons: –Ventilation, not the best as I could feel the warmth when it wasn’t crowded, let alone if it were body to body. eeeeew, I’m over that. –The bathrooms; someone didn’t give much thought to these. Especially the ones in the side room with the stage. I’m an averaged sized lady and my knees were hitting the swing door. I guess it would help if you were intoxicated enough not to care, but I wasn’t and I did.

Of all the many events held at Soho, I would have to say that Wednesdays(Acid Wash Wednesdays) and First Fridays are nights to attend. Wednesday nights are best to attend later on in the evening around 1030ish-11pm if you are looking for a crowd. Go early? you’ll have the whole dancefloor to yourself and friends. Make sure you dress 80’s because it’s all in good fun. Who doesn’t love dancing to 80’s? First Friday of every month, SoHo really hits it off. There’s always some sort of fun fashion show and/or exhibit displays from local artists before 9pm. Come early and check out the art. Come too late in the evening and you may find yourself waiting in line to get in, waiting in line to get a drink, and possibly waiting in line for the restroom as well. This is the extent of how busy this place can get on the first friday of the month. The dancefloor is big and the music is always good. The bartenders are always friendly. The crowd is always made up of a good variety of beautiful people, hipsters, locals, and good friends.
