So ono! Went for the first the other day and I ordered the kalbi burrito. It came with coleslaw that was really good, and I don’t really care for coleslaw but I would eat their coleslaw anytime. It was also very filling and worth the wait, which I have to mention was a bit long. I went around 8 pm and I came right before a rush of people came in so I can’t really complain about the wait. The workers are nice and friendly and I plan on coming back. Probably on Taco Tuesday!

Walk up orders, tiny space. Amazing fresh, tasty fish tacos are the way to go imho. Ono was ono, just dusted with a cajun spice. Enough to give it a little bit but not over whelming. The rice on the plate option was tasty and moist. Two sides– slaw and macaroni salad were nice. Very generous to say the least for the tacos and sides. Super casual. We had fast service but got there before noon. It was filling up when we left. Look up as you leave and take in the beautiful Diamond Head looming over the neighborhood. What a stunning Mountain!

This spot blew me away! They serve delicious and healthy food at an affordable price. It’s casual dining so you order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. Be patient because there’s only two girls cooking and good food takes time. I had their SSG mixed plate and their Ono plate with mac nut pesto with a side of cole slaw and tuna macaroni salad. Their mixed plate comes with a fish taco, chicken and Kalbi. It’s the perfect dish to try everything! The sides were amazing! The Mac salad was light and the cole slaw was to die for! I literally could eat it all day everyday. Their meat was well marinated and tender. Their Ono fish was fresh and the pesto was perfection. I loved everything here and wished I had more time to come back a second time during my trip. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner!

I am snooty about my salsa and chips and judge any Mexican or Mex fusion restaurant accordingly. South Shore Grill has one of the top bags of chips on the island. If you get them warm and fresh — it might take a while — they are perfect. The salsa is also terrific. Great customer service too. Warm folks accommodating the most difficult and sometimes drunk patrons.

Called in my order, was told it would be 20 minutes. Arrived 30 minutes later thinking I’d just give them more time. Got there and waited 20 more minutes in line to pay. Told them I called in an order 30 minutes ago and the cashier greeted me with a blank face and asked me to repeat my order, then processed that order as if I had never called in. I proceed to wait another 30 minutes, all the while watching people speedily pick up their to go orders. It was busy, I get it. But enough was enough and I asked the employees about the hold up. A girl snapped back, «He’s working on it!» and the other employees simply go about processing orders that were placed well after mine. Not only was my order wrong and I paid for more than I received, but this place just lost a long-time, local customer. Find somewhere else. This place is not worth the hype nor the wait.

, yes, our food was bomb. So good. We got the 2 taco plate with Ono that came with fries and coleslaw, my husband got the Ono burrito. We both devoured our lunches and cannot wait to come back! Perfect after the diamond head hike!

My wife and I were very lucky to find this place… we happened to be driving by on our rented mopeds and saw saw a small line outside of this unassuming store front. We were looking for a lunch spot and thought it looked worth checking out… We went with the Ono fish burritos and they were AWESOME! Very fresh, mixed with a slab of white rice(kind of compressed into a patty which really helped with the texture of the burrito), cole slaw/cabbage, some type of aoli sauce and overall goodness… a little hot sauce to your liking and just a killer fresh healthy fish burrito. We also had the onion rings which were great as well. Definitely will be hitting this place again on my next trip to Oahu!

Found this place on Unilocal and the pictures captivated me immediately. Had the fish tacos and the combo plate. Both were so freakin delicious! Best fish tacos in Hawaii!

I literally just created a Unilocal account(which isn’t really my thing) just so I could rave about how delicious their tacos are. Seriously. They changed my life. Their fish tacos are hands down the best thing that I’ve ever tasted. The tortilla is perfectly toasted, their fish is impeccably seasoned and grilled, and their slaw?! There isn’t enough that I could say about their slaw. Truly an explosion of complimentary flavors. And at $ 2.50 each on Tuesdays, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t sample these nuggets of delight. They also come in chicken, shrimp, and kal-bi steak. It’s a small restaurant and the street parking isn’t ideal, but the food makes up for it. The staff is friendly, seating is relatively clean, and it’s BYOB. I usually grab a corona and some lime from the liquor store across the street for the perfect taco tuesday. I consider myself a tacoisseur(taco connoisseur), and I believe that I’ve found the holy grail of fish tacos. Thank you, South Shore Grill. Thank you. Their pumpkin crunch is also bomb.

5 star best fish tacos I’ve ever had. 5 star best mac salad I’ve ever had. I have no idea what’s in it— it’s red. Serve yourself drinks so… free refills. Thoughtful compostable serving ware. What could be improved: generous serving of slaw excellent but a little heavy on the green onion for me. Dining room a/c underpowered. Appreciated that they offer an unsweetened iced tea but didn’t like the taste of it. The«hapa rice» was boring compared to the rest of the plate. All in all I loved my lunch, huge plate of food and a drink for about $ 13. Next time I could see doing what I saw others doing— just getting the tacos and a side of the mac salad and skipping the rice and extra slaw(there’s already slaw in your tacos). BTW, I tried to go to two other nearby eateries that both turned out to be cash only. I had no cash and didn’t see any bank ATMs nearby. Thanks for accepting credit cards SSG, you got my business and my 5 star review. Totally should have gotten the cookie.

OMG! That was delicious. We shared a chicken club sandwich with the pesto sauce, a small order of the garlic fries, and I had a cajun chicken taco to myself. As you can see from my picture, the taco was dripping with coleslawy goodness. Everything tasted fresh. The garlic fries were loaded with garlic. It was good. Unlike most places who just throw raw garlic on, these people cooked the garlic enough to take away it’s spiciness. The only bad thing I have to say is there was not enough salt on the fries, which Jasmine disagrees with. She was using ketchup, so she did not realize this… The fries were crispy, which is great. Full of flavor, this is one place Coe Snyder approves of :)

When I don’t have lunch and want something clean and simple, believe it or not, I go to South Shore Grill and order the kiddie size Grom Bowl. Brown rice and a choice of protein — grilled chicken or fish with your choice of sauce, Which I usually ask for in the side. The only thing missing is veggies, but I usually just as some cucumber or salad from home. It’s so hard to find clean, whole foods without all kinds of added oil, sugar and junk, so I appreciated this simple meal. Not feeling like a clean meal today? Then you must order the burger(best on the island) and a side of Suicide fries(poutine) on the side! Gravy and cheese over hot fries. This place gets busy so call your order in ahead of time. They also accept ID card for 15% off discount!

SHRIMPTACOS! The shrimp tacos were way better than the fish tacos in my opinion. We also got the grilled ono plate with the macnut pesto sauce. Very good but I only had a bite. The fish was a bit dry for my liking. We also got garlic butter fries — BRUTAL. Don’t go on a date after eating these! They were so good though! Best part about this spot — NOCILANTRO! :D The only complaint is the service. The girls running the kitchen were not nice. Attitude when asking for the bathroom keys. The guy who took our order though was really nice!

The best way to celebrate taco Tuesday! I don’t even like fish and yet I just inhaled that perfect piece of sunshine. It’s loaded up with a creamy slaw that will drip all over the place, mmm. I added an unmarked(homemade?) hot sauce that provided a mildly spicy flavorful kick reminiscent of my favorite hot sauce: Crystal. They have a fairly large menu that will need some more exploration. I’m making eyes at my neighbor’s Mac n Cheese and pile of fries…

One of my favorites! I’ve been here many times with no disappointments but finally writing a review. Atmosphere: The place has reimaged itself and renovated its seating area. Very casual and open seating. Service: Self-service. Food: I love there fish tacos. I had the ono tacos and the slaw always smells a little weird but tastes great. Intangibles: if you’re looking for great fish tacos come to South Shore Grill!

HYPES: I got the sautéed shrimp burrito! The shrimp inside this burrito is HELLA bomb! I’m pretty sure it was garlic butter, but the taste was definitely very prominent and delicious. It also had some cole slaw, lettuce, tomatoes & rice. Service was great! The sweet girl was manning the front on her own and was able to take orders & answer phones at the same time all with a smile on her face. Great customer service! GRIPES: I felt the burrito needed just a bit less rice, or more seasoning or flavor in the rice. Though the burrito in general was delicious, the excess rice sometimes took away those beautiful flavors that lit up my soul on my very first bite. The menu is placed in an awkward place. when you walk in… its facing you(and the door) and then you order to the right, which causes you to look up at the menu(to your left) while also trying to speak to the server(on your right). Maybe it’s just me though? It may also cause some confusion as to where the line to order should pan out when things get really busy. Other than that, I loved it and I wanna go back on taco Tuesday! Solid 4 stars.
