Spot’s Inn e-mailed their customers last night, providing and update. They’ve also announced their catering operations are now available. I’ve posted the images of their bento and catering menu in the photos section for Spot’s. I’m sure Seiko is looking forward to folks sending some business their way while they find look for new«Spots». With the holidays just around the corner, maybe pick something up from them to bring to an upcoming party. «We are still looking for a new location, but just wanted to let you know we can still do catering services. Attached are our catering menus. Please contact us if we can provide any service for a party or gathering:)» — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - In an e-mail to their customers last night, Spot’s will not be re-opening in Rainbow Mart in Palolo. I hope they do find a new location, and reopen. And here’s wishing they bring back the«original» mega plate. Hello, Spot’s Inn was scheduled to reopen on 9⁄24 at Rainbow Mart at Palolo, but due to an issue beyond our control, we will not be able to do so. We regret not being able to live up to our promise, and at this moment, we are working on a plan to reopen elsewhere. We are sorry for this last minute notice, but will let you know as soon as we find another location. Hope to see you when that time comes. Mahalo, Spot’s Inn

Haha, sorry Nat N. that you didn’t get a chance to try the food on their last day but you can take it from me that it really did taste good. That should teach you that you should have called ahead the day before. The BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs were sold out before they even opened. That should clue the rest of you into how good the food is. The new location actually opens on Sept. 24. I hope to be one of the 1st people to get their food from their location. Currently there are 3 tables outside so it looks like alfresco dining.

Tried to get my chicken katsu fix at Spots today, since I heard that today is their last day at their University location, and the line was out the door. Fortunately, I saw a sign on the door announcing that they will be re-opening next to Rainbow Mart at 1720 Palolo Ave on Sept 24. Yay!

I’m writing the review with mixed emotions. I’m happy because my experiences here have always been great, but I’m also sad because they’re going to be closing down in just under two weeks to relocate to another place. I’m not sure where that new location is going to be, but I’m just hoping that it’s somewhere that I can get to easily! A strong 4.5 stars! I sure wish Unilocal would let us do half-stars incriments for our reviews! THEPROS: + Delicious food + Affordable + Friendly service + Just down the street from my office + Parking validation THECONS: — They’re only there for two more weeks — Limited on the«healthier» options On my visit last night my friend and I stopped in to grab dinner after running. We usually opt for a healthier dinner, but decided on Spot’s since we heard they were closing down on August 28th. After talking to the nice Japanese lady at the counter I found out that they weren’t closing for good, as we had previously though, but just relocating. I guess the Puck’s Alley location isn’t an ideal one. I feel like there’s quite a bit of turnover for businesses in that spot. THEFOOD: I couldn’t decide what to order, so I went with the little bit of everything menu item Spot’s Inn Bento: $ 8.95 for three crispy, juicy pieces of chicken katsu(some of the best chicken katsu around), two moist flaky pieces of fried mahi mahi, a thick juicy teri hamburger steak patty, a grilled slice of SPAM(no local bento is complete without one!), and a couple slices of takuan on a bed of furikake sprinkled rice. Everything in the bento was hot and fresh. The flavors were superb, and the katsu and tartar sauces were the perfect amount for the food. While I was eating I got up to refill my water cup, and I was able to get a glimpse into the kitchen. There were three little Japanese ladies back there cooking. No wonder why the food is so good! There is only one salad on their menu, and the rest is mostly plate lunch fare, so the healthy option is limited. After I polished off my bento I was stuffed. $ 9 for a filling dinner? DEALS! I hope you’re able to read this in time, and be inspired to visit Spot’s Inn in Puck’s Alley before the 28th. Then you’ll have something to look forward to(and obsess over) until they re-open in their new location. The lady I spoke with at the counter said that they’ll send word out about where their new location is via email. You can write them to ask to get signed up for their weekly specials menu, and other information at . I’ll probably be eating here again before they close on the 28th, and I’ll be anxiously waiting for them to re-open whenever, and where ever that may be.

Why am I always stuck between rating a 3 or a 4?! The Good: *Service is great. Aunty that works there is so happy and nice all the time. Truly generous! *Location is cherry. Right in the same corner as Curry House down the street from University of Hawaii *There is a parking lot, validation is cheap-ish *Food is local kine grindz! The Bad: *Unfortunately, I couldn’t try their«specials» that they have every day, and thats what they usually sell out of right when they open *The food is not bad, its good, but not SUPER amazing The Weird: *This place is called Spot’s Inn and when I went in, I think I saw the actual dog they based it on… But it WASNT their dog… so weird.

Five words: GRILLEDCRABANDBACONSANDWICH! Sooo good! I went to HCC and loved having Spot’s Inn right across the street from me and longed for their GC&BS for a long time after I graduated. Even though I work like 5 minutes away(by car) from the new place, I didn’t go there until I had to work right across the street from there! Of course I got the GC&BS(with salad instead of fries) and it was exactly the same as I remembered! I also had a spam musubi another day, and that was good too. The lady that works the front counter is sooo sweet and friendly! I probably only know one other person who is soo upbeat and approachable like her!

Just went there yesterday on a whim Food must be good cuz they were out of most of the specials(hamburger curry, chicken & mushroom pasta) and their regular stuff like the boneless short rib beef stew and the pastrami sandwich. So sad. The lady at the counter was very sweet though and suggested the bento. She was right– it’s a great bento(good flavors, generous portions) and I loved that the spam was cooked on their grill. It had hash marks and a great hibachi kind of flavor. I also got the chili and hotdogs plate for my other half but he saved it and ate the rest of my bento. When I got home today I noticed he had the chili plate for lunch. Must’ve been good cuz there’s no leftovers! I shall return to taste that stew and the other local specials. Is it like home cookin’? We shall see.
