Love it!!! Very clean and central! If you work in downtown this is the place to go! I’ve been to their old location and this is a huge difference. Very fast and friendly service!

I am not a big fan of Subway but I go there every now and then when I need to get something to eat and don’t have a lot of time. My real issue with this Subway is that the staff does not seem as friendly as other locations I have been to. The service is not necessarily bad, it just isn’t as good as other Subway’s I have been to. I am not sure if it is a cultural issue or what, but I just feel rushed every time I go there(even when I am the only customer).

This Subway recently moved from the corner of King St. and Alakea St. to the Central Pacific Bank building on Alakea St. next to Starbucks. The previous location was older and seemed a little dirty, the new one looks much cleaner since it was built from scratch for Subway. Beware of the cleanliness of this location. It might look new and clean but looks can be deceiving. Yesterday, I decided to pick up a sandwich and head back to the office. While they were putting my sandwich together I noticed something odd that looked black mixed in with the lettuce. Maybe an olive? I leaned in to look through the glass and saw it was a long black hair sticking up out of the lettuce. When I asked her to look at the sandwich, she looked down and said«what the problem?». I told her what is that hair? She then tried to push the hair down into the lettuce. When I asked again to tell me what that is she pulls the hair and out comes half the lettuce. The hair did not just fall in, it was coiled up in the chopped lettuce! Apparently not a huge deal since she was unfazed but what just happened. The worker moved the sandwich over to the paper warp and was ready to bag the sandwich… like I am going to eat that! I told her no thanks. While I was getting ready to leave the manager, who was watching this whole thing from the register, decided to jump in. She tells me «let them make another one». From the same bins? No thanks.

So I’ve eaten at this subway before but today was my last day. I ordered my food(flatizza and soup). No problem right… Not so much. The girl that was putting my food together was coughing the whole time … Are you f&@king kidding me! Threw my food away. I just couldn’t bring myself to eat it! Suggestion…, if you’re sick stay your ass at home! Just sayin’!

They like to take your order as you are standing in the back of the line, far from the counter. So the counter person, skipped me, and yelled for the people’s orders behind me. When I finally reached the counter, as you’re at the counter, they do not look at customers, because they ask for your order(bread, meat, cheese, toasted, veggies) while you are at the back of the line. So I started telling customers to go ahead of me, because they did not take my order yet, and I didn’t want to hold them from paying for their completed orders. A counter person then yelled, «I didn’t see you.» No apology, just then she sloppily put my sandwich together. The customers around me apologized, I think for the worker. Also the fountain drinks were not working. I will never go to this location. There’s a nicer location in the Topa Tower.

Just as good as any other subway. Line gets long for lunch but the subway staff has system down to keep things moving. A subway sandwich is a subway sandwich is a subway sandwich.

I’ll eat at Subway if I have to, like when I’m headed to the airport. or if it’s late and every other place in downtown is closed.

8.23.13. After years of having this on road trips and pre/post-game meals, I realized why I had never come to this Subway before today. I have to say that it was more delish than I was expecting(probably because I hadn’t had anything from here in a while). Ordered the norm, Turkey on Italian Herb & Cheese bread, YUM! Sadly, this isn’t a $ 5 footlong… they do have them listed on the board inside. Just some notes about this location. It is more of a grab and go Subway. They do have some dine in tables and chairs, but it does get crowded & noisy… It’s convenient location right on King & Alakea attracts a lot of people during the lunch rush – the line can get awkwardly long especially since there are two«entrances». Just make sure you are standing in the right one. The workers are pretty nice, you have to listen up though, sometimes it’s hard to hear what they are asking you. They also are pretty quick so the wait isn’t terribly bad. I found that this was one of the more refreshing lunches that I’ve had in a long time! Unilocal 365 Challenge: #234/365

You know when you’re hungry and you settle on a sandwich? When nothing else seems tasty enough to venture out to that place and get whatever you get there. That’s when you remember subway. That same old cold sandwich, unless you get it toasted, fill you up enough. Refreshing at the bare minimum but I usually don’t feel too guilty after having a subway. You’re wondering what do I get when I patron subway. I get bread and fillings. I get in and out in a jif. I get to save some money since their prices are predictable and cheap. I get no kanack attacks. I got it at Jared’s… favorite sandwich shop. Eat fresh.

Probably one of the most efficient subways i have been to yet. The service is fast and the staff are pretty friendly. However, the breakfast crew, which is comprised of one lady, needs some attention. The lady is making all the bread for the day and serving the breakfast customers at the same time. One extra hand would make a world of difference.

amazingly enjoyed ordering at this subway then the pioneer plaza and fort st mall locations. i was greeted by the employee. sandwich was made neatly and with pride. got 8 slices of turkey than 6 at other places and I watched her spend the effort to fold and fan the meat. there was no skimping on vegetables. and best of all i didn’t have to repeat myself. got a free cookie too. just fill out the less than a minute survey… this will be my go to subway location in town for now…

This Subway location on South King Street in downtown Honolulu can get busy during the peak lunch time hours. Even though the lines has stretched out the door, the wait is not too long as the service is pretty quick. Subway is great for a quick inexpensive lunch as they offer a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups and even cookies. For $ 7.02(tax included) my 6-inch turkey combo meal includes chips and Fuze brewed green iced tea with honey. One of the best tasting ice tea as it is not too sweet and my favorite of all the soft drinks. I like their sandwiches because it is low fat, light, very affordable and you can customize your sandwich to your liking. Speaking of sweet, for a quick sweet treat their raspberry cheesecake cookies are so heavenly delicious. Other flavors available are peanut butter, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and double chocolate chip. Subway probably has one of the best coupon deals around. Every now and then there are coupon inserts with the Sunday newspaper and also Midweek which have coupons offering a buy one, get one free sandwich deal. Sweet!

I only come to this Subway location when I need a quick and inexpensive dinner when I have a red eye flight out of Honolulu that night, which is more often than my bank account would like me to have, but I am happy with my life — no matter how sucky my social life has become. Love the travel, the sacrifices I have made is well worth it, especially giving up driving daily. This Subway location is basically in the heart of downtown Honolulu, on Alakea and South King Street. Quite small and it serves it’s purpose. It was closing time and it was as if they were cleaning up, so when I popped in, there was nobody around! Only after a few minutes, a worker pops out from the back and asks me what I want. How rude! Anyway, it’s Subway and the prices are predictable and the menu is always fixed. Not sure about the any specials they may or may not have, but the footlongs are pretty good and value oriented for just about anyone. The service is fast and prompt, which is expected. I wouldn’t have anything more or less at any of these subway restaurants. The mannerisms of the workers varies from time to time, but I guess you just have to love your job here. B

Eat Fresh! It’s hard to eat fresh downtown or pretend to eat healthy when you are surrounded by a plethora of food choices whether its a plate lunch or a burger, it’s hard! What makes it even harder, is finding an affordable lunch! Well, Subway offers their normal lineup at the downtown location where you can get a foot long sandwich for $ 6 or a complete meal for less than $ 10 and still be full! I could write a long review detailing the intricacies of my sandwich that I order, but that would just be a waste. The menu is your Subway menu and nothing more, nothing less. However, the service is efficient and the wait never too long. Let’s be honest, when you work downtown, time is always of the essence!

You better know what you want on your sub, otherwise the Filipino nanas who work here will make to your sub for you! You’ll get American cheese, really light lettuce, and that’s about it. And oh, don’t even think about getting your sub toasted. Look, I know that the lunch rush in Downtown can get just plain crazy. And with more people trying to eat healthy, Subway is a good and quick way to get your food. But c’mon, when you get a nasty look for trying to pick your toppings, that’s just wrong. What’s also wrong is that they don’t really assemble the sub with care. On more than one occasion, I had to full on fix my sub, before eating it, because everything was falling out! I even went to the Subway website to complain, but nothing happened. Maybe I need to walk farther to try out the other Subway that’s not near my building. There’s another one in Pioneer Plaza, but they’re just as bad as this location. Sigh…

Came in here for the morning $ 3 special. They just opened because it was 7:05 A.M. but the little old filipino ladies were BITCHES! Trying to rush me while making my flat bread bacon, egg, & cheese sandwhich. Like WTF, is it really necessary for you to be such a grouch in the morning?! Yelling at me because their old ass ears couldn’t hear me talk because I’m sick. They need to shape up!!! Never going to this Subway location again! Unless im super hungry or too late for work to go to another location closer to my job!

Subways are all typically the same, but I especially do not like this one. I like Subway sandwiches… they are very affordable and the cookies are very yummy. I have been to Subways where they make messy sandwiches; I have been to Subways where they make nice and clean sandwiches, but this Subway just flat out has rude«Sandwich Artists.» I don’t know why this Subway does not let you get a tuna sandwich for a kid’s meal. In fact, tuna sandwiches are probably one of the most popular for kids… my daughter’s favorite is tuna… and so far, this is the only Subway I’ve been to that doesn’t let you get a kid’s tuna sandwich! I feel like Subway corporate should say something about this! I always go during lunch, so of course they are very busy. I wish that would excuse their rudeness, but it really doesn’t. I’ve been to incredibly busy restaurants where at least our order was taken with a smile. The workers definitely rush you, which I guess should be expected. They don’t smile and they totally mumble when they are asking you what kind of cheese you want or if you want all the veggies – I always notice people in line that don’t understand what the workers are saying. The workers always look grumpy. Today, my coworker asked for the ham in the Italian BMT to be replaced with turkey, but they refused to make this easy change. Most of the Subways I have been to allow for simple substitutions such as this. The way they answered my coworker’s question was also very blunt and rude. At least the workers make decent sandwiches that don’t immediately fall apart when you start eating them. This is the closest Subway to where I work so I unfortunately this is the Subway I go to the most often. I really hate giving them my money.

By the crowd that is always at this Subway at lunch, you’d think they’re giving out free candy… This place is super crowded between about 11:45 and 12:30 so if you don’t want to bother, come early or come late. That’s the best advice I can give you because on a busy day, that line goes either out the door onto the street or curves around into the alley and there are only like 2 – 3 ladies working here. I once went to grab lunch at Sushi Kahuna and when I came back out to Subway, my coworker was STILL waiting in line to get her sandwich! i will admit that they are pretty fast, so don’t try to customize too much, but if you do, you better catch them before it is too late – for example, I told the first lady that I didn’t want my bread toasted, but as she was pushing my bread down the line, the second lady loaded up the oven rack getting ready to toast my sandwich! So I had to stop her. Anyway, you better know what you want when you come in and don’t expect service with a smile. They are fairly efficient but they are not what I’d call a service organization. Oh and I’d guess this is like most Subways, they’re not generous either. The pieces of meat don’t reach the edge of the bread and they’re even stingy on the brownish lettuce they gave me. But oh well, when you want a $ 46-inch sub, it’s here or Blimpies I guess… They do take all sorts of credit cards so that’s nice. And next time I think I’ll just get the footlong and eat the other half for lunch the next day or for an afternoon snack. 4 bucks for the 6inch or 6 bucks for the footlong(basic subs). They have the combo meal for 6-inch sub + chips + soda(you can substitute yogurt or green tea too I think) and it’s something like $ 6. Personally for that price, I’d rather have another 6 inches of sandwich to bite into. There are some tables(i think) but no one really eats in there because the line takes up so much of the space that you would probably feel claustrophobic. This Subway is so busy during lunch time that the ladies working actually sound like they are yelling at you when you are ordering. It is almost as if I am pissing them off when I am asking them what I want. It is so messy when they are busy — my sandwhich pretty much fell apart when I went to eat it just now. I guess I can’t complain, but I have been to way better Subways than this one.

Olive shortage!!! Why didn’t anyone tell me there was an olive shortage??? Psh! You would think that when you ask for«plenty» or «lots of» olives, you would get more then five little ring slices, not even whole olives, just five tiny black rings. Oh, and wait… When I asked for more, I got three more rings… Whoa! Stop the presses! Be ready for the lackluster service you will receive from these rude, crabby ladies, and please note there are no sandwich«artists» here. I don’t take advantage either, I only get lettuce, tomato, and I just like lots of olives. Sheesh! Eight tiny black rings is not lots. From now on, I’m going to ask for all of the vegetables, I’m going to get my money’s worth. Of course I will pick off the other veggies and give them to my co-workers, but I’m taking what I’m entitled to. I believe Subway is a franchise, so the owner really should look into sprucing up the attitudes of the employee’s if they expect to stay in business. If your business depends on customers… Take some advice… Treat your customers with respect and make sure you thank them for coming to your business, and get rid of the rude employees… And when a customer who only asks for lettuce, tomato and lots of olives, be sure to pile them on.
