Awful experience. I stood still in a line that was 6 people deep for 20 minutes. They were moving so slow that we were literally not moving for 20 minutes. I watched them over charge a customer in front of me(part of the problem with the line moving so slow) and then mess up orders in front of me. To top it off, probably the worst Subway sandwich I have ever had. Bread was dry and hard, vegetables were awful. The workers were rude to customers as well as to each other, which is extremely unprofessional. If you can leave Tripler, do it.

Located inside Tripler Army Medical Center down the hall from the little mini mart/exchange is Subway. Nex to Subway is an eatery that serves burgers/grilled cheese/plate lunches. Subway is where you can«eat fresh»… but more importantly use your debit/credit card! The Anuenue Café at the opposite end of the hall has waaaaaay cheaper food but it’s CASHONLY… so if you’re like me: hungry, hungry, and hungry(and forgot to bring lunch and cash)… then Subway is here to save the day! I’ve never had a bad experience with the staff. Everyone has always been so friendly and efficient. The tiny Asian nana who works during breakfast and lunch is adorable! She ALWAYS greets you and welcomes you to Subway and as soon as you tell her what you want she’ll say in the cutest voice ever«toasted?»… she’s great! At night the staff has been nice as well and I’ve never had an issue. During lunch the line is ridiculously long so be prepared for a wait. The staff works as fast as they can though so the line moves at a decent pace. I always get the roasted chicken breast on wheat bread with American cheese. I’m pretty simple with ordering a whole lotta lettuce and 2 tomatoes(yes just 2!)… with lotsa black pepper and a touch of lite mayo(Subway is the ONLY time I eat mayo)… I know how weird am I? lol… Prices are decent, the variety is the same as other Subways, and the bread is soft and fresh with fresh veggies. Not sure of what time they open(early I assume because they serve breakfast) but they do close at 9PM!

Where I go to eat if I don’t bring my lunch or if I don’t want to eat in the cafeteria. Since discovering the veggie-but-not-exactly-vegan patty(oh well!) I’ve enjoyed the veggie subs more. Otherwise the sub is a bunch of salad ingredients sandwiched in some bread. Not terribly exciting. Beware of the long line at lunch hour during the week. Subway was one of my sure sources of food on my cross-country drive with my dad from NC to CA many years ago before I became savvy about food-finding(ex: research).

I am mourning that Burger King is not here anymore at Tripler but that was YEARS ago when I was pregnant with first two kiddos. Now, there is Subway and American Eatery besides the hospital cafeteria. If you want cheap eats, go to TAMC Anuenue Café. However, if you are tired of eating cafeteria food, you can walk to the opposite end of the hospital and eat at Subway. Granted, there is restaurants down the hill but none of us wants to lose our parking. We are already familiar with their menu, however, the service is all right. It is actually better when the older workers are putting your sandwiches together because the younger staff workers are pretty cruising as they prep your sandwiches together. It’s like you can only instruct one thing at a time to avoid confusing them. However, the older staff is multi-taskers and quick. My recommendation is to go to this Subway only if you have an appointment here or visiting someone at Tripler.
