DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT GO HERE! This is my first Unilocal review and I feel so strongly about this place that I decided to warn others against it. I brought in an expensive pair of shoes to fix the ankle strap that was loose. The ankle strap is held to the other end of the shoe with thick elastic, but the elastic is meant to be hidden and the strap is flesh to the other side of the shoe. Here’s what happened…
Issue 1. They quoted me $ 18 on the phone, when I showed up they charged me $ 32
Issue 2. They did horrible craftsmanship on my shoe and changed it from the original design to one where the strap is now about ¼ inch from the shoe and the elastic is sticks for ¼ inch!
Issue 3. The decided to go ahead and ruin my other shoe so that it would match the first shoe they ruined.
Issue 4. When I go to pick them up I explain how this isn’t what I wanted, wasn’t the original shoe design, and that I didn’t want a ¼ of elastic showing on my shoes. They agree to work on it and try to get it back to its original condition
Issue 5. I return and there is absolutely no change and the elastic is still showing
Issue 6. I return AGAIN and THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE. Then they start a web of lies telling me that the shoe was designed that way originally. Sorry trashy people, I bought those shoes at Nordstrom and you better believe there wasn’t ¼ inch of elastic sticking out! Then I ask for my money back or a discount. No such luck. They ruined my shoes, lied to me, ripped me off and then were not willing to do ANYTHING to fix the situation.
Bottom line: horrible craftsmanship, liars, cheaters, trashy.

I had a horrible experience at T&H and would not recommend them. I notice that great reviews were back in 2012. My experience is similar to ones posted this year. The owner is a gentle man and seemed sincere and competent when I went in. My Taryn Rose sandals are 20 years old but needed new elastic on straps and he recommended new half soles. I was charged $ 128.27 which was more than I paid for the shoes, but not knowing how much shoe repairing was, I paid it without question. I was told to come back at noon on Friday. Because it’s not easy to find parking downtown, I called ahead of time to make sure they were ready. Was told yes. I arrived 12:45 and the shoes were not ready. He had gone to the bank and needed to put the edging on the new soles. Told to come back in 30 minutes. I fed the meter and waited. Soles were done but it turned out that he never did the elastic repair. Told to come back in one hour. Decided to wait it out. All told, it took 3 hours before it was completed. His wife was there the whole time, reading her paper and complained that he hadn’t eaten lunch yet, that another customer had to come back next week, and when I asked for 4 quarters for the meter, she wanted a dollar returned. I never raised my voice. Told them had they just been truthful with time constraints and not kept telling me another 30 minutes, we wouldn’t be in this situation. Owner is forgetful and wife needs to improve her customer service to clients. Will never step in there again.

I will be finding a different shop for my business and recommend all others to do the same. I brought my leather motorcycle jacket to them on a Thursday and wanted a small piece of Velcro replaced on the collar. The older gentleman that helped me was kind but seemingly incompetent. He said he couldn’t fix my zippers and I had to tell him which piece of Velcro to use and how to trim it. We agreed that I would pick it up the next Tuesday when they opened at 9:30am. So the next Tuesday I arrived at the shop at 9:30, and they were not open yet. After waiting an hour, the owner arrived at 10:30! He then spent 5 minutes searching for my jacket just to inform me that he had not done the repair! He asked me to come back that evening. I told him I could be there at 5pm, which is after they close, but I can’t get off work until 4:30. When I arrived at the shop at 5, the owner had forgotten about me again, and told me again that he had not yet completed the job! He gave me a bunch of excuses, but I told him I just wanted my money back and my jacket back. Waste of time!

The lining is wonderful but the thread and sewing did not match my Louis Vuitton is sadly not the same the leather is now worn wear the repair was done. paid a mint for this but my part two did not turn out happy today.

Took a pair of shoes in that needed a leather strap re-​attached after so much wear and had an excellent experience with quality work and less than 24 hour turnaround customer service. I will definitely be using them again and recommending them to others.

I’m from San Francisco and each time I go to Oahu I visit Tony to have him make a belt for me. He is one of the nicest human beings you will meet.
I like to support small business and he has one of the best!

I’m rating this for the new holes the guy poked in my purse strap. This is a place that looks like it’s been here forever and he knows his stuff. I had a purse strap that was too long and needed additional holes. He fixed it in a minute and didn’t even charge me. I am not a frequent patron but he was just so nice and wouldn’t tell me how much I owed him. I left him $ 5 so he could treat himself to a coffee or something.
I’ve also brought a pair of shoes here before and he recommended not fixing them – the cost to fix would have been more than they were worth. I’ll definitely come back here for any leather/​shoe repair needs.

I have a pair of knee high Charles David black boots which I bought years ago at a sample sale in LA and I adore them! Retail they’re worth about $ 450 but I got them at a steal for $ 50. They were a really great investment because they’re comfortable and look great with skinny jeans! Unfortunately the leather in the heels had been worn down from wear and tear, and it was literally unravelling. I sent my BF downtown to get them fixed. He called to tell me that the man at the store gave me two options:
1) Replace the leather which was hand wrapped around the heels for $ 125
OR
2) Take off the leather and paint the heels for $ 45.
Well it seemed crazy for me to pay $ 125 so I hesitatingly opted for the $ 45. I was very unsure what this was going to look like and I’ve become very attached to my boots. Yesterday afternoon, after a downtown business luncheon we decided to walk down to Nu’uanu Avenue to pick up my boots.
When I walked into T & H I was immediately taken aback by all the stuff in cases and hanging on walls. Everything from handbags to wallets to shoes; it was literally a lifetime collection of goods. I handed the man, whom I assumed was the store’s proprietor and cobbler, my claim ticket and he brought out my boots. I have to say, although I felt $ 45 was a bit steep at first, it was completely worth the money because the quality of work was outstanding. The heels of my boots looked fantastic and as I studied them I got excited about wearing them again! The man who helped me was very nice and I’ll be sure to return again.
The lesson here folks is invest in pieces which you really enjoy wearing, because as long as you’ve got people like T & H in your corner, they’ll last and will be a joy to wear for years to come!
