A solid 4 stars. Great food for the lunch buffet and good service. The meal was a great value as well.

I’ve only come here for the all you can eat lunch buffet. The food is decent, but nothing that miraculous or mind blowing. There’s lamb, saffron rice, a Mediterranean/Greek type salad, etc. and simple desserts. The service was ok. The décor is interesting. Maybe I’m not that much of a fan of Egyptian food, but I wouldn’t come back here again. It reminded me of mediocre Greek food. Parking is in the back. Prices were reasonable.

Now under new management, The Pyramids is still rock solid for a Kapahulu neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant. The ambience is a tad brighter which I much prefer since I like to see my food. On a recent Friday night, five us of made our way to the back table with its comfortable padded booth seating and, get this, pillows! So comfy. Each of our Supper Club members contributed $ 20 to the night(minus $ 8 or so dollars spent on fries at Burgers on the Edge prior), so we decided on a mixed platter of appetizers that included hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouleh, falafels, dolmas and pita($ 22.95) and a Greek salad of romaine, feta, kalamata olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and bits of red onion bathed in a light vinaigrette. It was all good, except that I was not familiar with the temperature hot and somewhat dry rice filling in the dolmas having always eaten it cold with a moist filling that included pine nuts. Another friend liked it just fine. Though we were quite stuffed, we made room for baklava — no sharing here — … and Egyptian coffee. Not a coffee drinker, I ordered it anyway just to sample. The serving is tiny, an espresso-sized glass mug made for sipping the sweet dark brew flavored with cardamom. While not a favorite cup ‘o joe, it was a complement to the overly sweet walnut baklava, which on this night was dry and hard rather than flaky and crisp. Sadly, a bit of a disappointment punctuating an overall lovely meal. Service was nicely paced and water glasses were promptly filled when emptied, so no complaints. Our check was brought in a decorated covered box, a nice touch that carried over from the previous management. In all, with appetizer, salad, extra platter of pita, the five baklavas and 3 coffees, we used our alloted cache of change with $ 1 left over, which we put towards malasadas at Leonard’s Bakery down the street!

Be prepared for lack of parking on the street… Come early! Don’t expect to order the«Chef’s Special» and pay only the 29.95 price… They charge per person even though it’s the same amount of food… Watermelon Martini’s are good… Bellydancing is a nice attraction!

I will make this as brief as I possibly can: We were celebrating a birthday at The Pyramids and brought in our own cake for dessert. After dinner, the cake was brought out and a gentleman(Perhaps the host or manager? We weren’t sure.) insisted on cutting and serving it. He used a 15″ kitchen knife to butcher our cake, then completely man-handled and palmed each piece onto their plates. We were in complete awe and disgust. I said a prayer before each bite that this guy had clean hands. Ok but that’s not the kicker. After serving the cake, there was quite a mess left: icing and crumbs smeared on the glass table. The guy came back with a rag and bottle of Windex and proceeded to spray and wipe the table. Oh my word, who does that while still eating?! Well, I guess a little Windex won’t kill you. But wait, there’s more… While the gentleman is spritzing Windex in our dining area, I hear my friend across the table mutter: «There’s cake on his lip! What the fuck?! He ate our cake!» (I guess he couldn’t resist. That Strawberry Shortcake from Café Laufer is really quite amazing. My friend said that she did notice the guy left a somewhat big«crumb» on the platter that he took away.) Despite the mis-steps of this one fellow, we agreed that perhaps it’s a cultural difference and we can get past it. Overall, the atmosphere and food here are great and consistent. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating amidst the Saturday-evening dinner rush and bellies dancing. Of our party of 11, the majority had either a Shishkabob dish or the Chicken Shawerma. I tried the Bamia(a red stew) because I love okra. P. S. Free parking in the back lot for Pyramids customers.

We decided to come here to eat their lunch buffet for brunch. We were so hungry that we immediately headed to their buffet selection. Although the size and selection of the mediterranean food was not much, what they offered was really yummy. Their fries were crispy and salted just right(tastes great with the hummus!), and the rice pudding was a divine finish to the meal(the SO took two big scoops of it). The lamb was also good, but the the falafel and chicken were a bit on the salty side. As for service, there was only one waitress serving everyone(there were 4 – 6 small groups eating). She didn’t let our water glass be less than half empty and served us with a smile. Overall, we left stuffed like turkeys and satisfied. And we’ll definitely come back for more!

Come here for the lunch buffet! Pyramids has been around for awhile, but I haven’t made it to dinner yet, so no belly dancers for me(judging by the reviews should I keep it that way?). Why do I feel like I have been eating so many buffets lately? Straight up NOMming I guess. Anywho, the lunch buffet at Pyramids is $ 12.95. The selection is limited, but it is good quality middle eastern food! THEMENU: Lamb(gyros style) Pita Hummus Tabouli(minced parsley, tomatoes, feta) Greek Salad Grilled chicken? Idk it’s like a BBQd chicken. French Fries Falafel Rice Pudding As you can see, it is definitely a small buffet… but everything is pretty good. Luckily you don’t need to stuff yourself in order to try everything, but if you want to be more adventurous in the realm of Middle Eastern cuisine, then you might be disappointed. I’d much rather pick a buffet with less choices of good quality vs. many choices but all gross… well I guess a large, good quality buffet would be prime, but you can’t have everything esp. for this price! SEEEEEFORYOURSELF! I always get my money worth ^____^ cheee

The Sphinx and Camels are not the only great things to come out of the Middle East. You can add The Pyramid on Kapahulu onto that list. I went in for the all you can eat buffet and I must say FUCKA was ONO. The salad was the teaser. Refreshing and crisp. YUMMY! The spread of meat was eye popping. Lamb and chicken was cooked perfectly. Not too overcooked. Just right. Dessert? Fuck it! Awesome. I filled my belly with the best middle eastern food in Hawaii and created my own Pyramids when I got home. The Ambiance there made me feel like a Pharoah. With the friendly and professional staff there you too will feel like royalty.
