I had a great time trying SOOOOO many different flavors of gelato and sorbetto. There was such a variety! If it wasn’t for Eric Robert T. and Josie C. throwing the event, I probably would never have known that this little place existed at all! So THANKYOUGUYS for the intro to this lil hidden gem. Ok, so why 4 stars instead of 5? 1) Because when the choice is standing the whole time or baking in the sun are your only options, there a little bit of sad face involved, and 2) er… somebody called me rude and disrespectful just because«I came for the food» lol. Overall, though, the people that showed for the UYE were super eclectic and really nice!

La Gelateria motto: «LICK, LOVE, LIVE!» Ciao! This UYE was created for tasting of REAL Italian Gelato & Sorbetto in our wonderful WARM state of Hawai’i! La Gelateria supplies heavenly treats to fine local restaurants and hotels like: Assaggio, Nordstrom Café, Royal Hawaiian Hotel, to name just a few. So, now you know;) Price: $ 2 cup(any flavor). $ 4 — $ 6 pints(sorbetto-fancy gelato). $ 23 — $ 34 ice cream cake(24 hours notice). Location: Well hidden, Ewa-side of Meadow Gold. Distribution where they make it, equals low cost! I’ve been here many times, knew the original Sicilian owner, and already have written long rambling reviews on La Gelateria. So I won’t bore you with redundancy. Instead I want to say Grazie to: Paige I. aka«Coconut Island» Krysten I. aka«Ms. Waikiki Beach» Christian G. aka«North Carolina Cougar» Aipere P. aka«Ms. Kyrgyzstan, Ms. Popularity» Gary N. aka«Da Mango Picker» Val Y. aka«Video, Video, and Video» Maka K. aka«Michelle Wie» Sandra K. aka«Déjà Vue» Stephen H. aka«Occupy Ala Moana» Terry K. aka«Flying to LA» Anna F. aka«Better Late than Nevah» and of course my awesome partner in crime, Josie C. aka«Perfect Eyebrows.» Sorry about the nicknames, but I once managed 300 people and always attach cool nicknames to people– my secret to never forgetting names! Awesome group to hangout, talk story, and open our tastebuds for flavors like Lilikoi to Gianduia to Black Sesame Seed, etc, etc., and like my BFF, Josie C… My favorites are Lilikoi Sorbetto and the Kona Coffee Gelato. This dedicated to all of you(think Bocelli): Io v’amo sol perchè voi siete bella, e perchè vuol mia stella, non ch’io speri da voi, dolce mio bene, altro che pene. Fun, spontaneous group! Til next time… Arrivederci!!! Tip: Cash only(no Euro). No tax. Cedar street is a one-way street. FYI: Kyrgyzstan, officially the Kyrgyz Republic, is a country located in Central Asia. Landlocked and mountainous, Kyrgyzstan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east. Its capital and largest city is Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan was part of the old Soviet Union. This info has no connection to Gelato, Italy, or Hawai’i, but simply a guide for my geographical challenged friends: D UnilocalREVIEW #110

Cool gelato and sorbetto. Cooler attendees of this UYE. Like fellow Yeeps Josie, Christian, Krysten, my first. Kudos to bruddah Eric and sistah Josie for putting it on. Thank you Eric and Josie for bringing together such a fun group of Yeeps and Yeeps-to-be(join in the fun Aiperi) from literally all over the world. Even Wahiawa. Wow! I didn’t even mind the sermon.

UYE Tasting REAL Gelato and Sorbetto at La Geleteria This UYE really interested me because it didn’t have the word«ELITE» in it like all the Unilocal«Elite» Events that always exclude me. Eric Robert«The Last RL Cowboy» T. and Josie C. organized this event. I like the conversations that Eric initiates on Honolulu Talk, so this UYE really stirred my interest! I like dee Filipina. I like dee colors that dee Filipina wear. I like that dee Filipina wear purple and pink dresses in public during the day. I like that dee Filipina named Josie was helping Eric organize this UYE. My friend Elizabeth D. said that dee Filipina Josie could be dee«Adobo Spice Girl»! Ssst! This UYE really, really interest me! I liked that this UYE didn’t have an age limit! It didn’t say Baby Boomers don’t come! I like that this UYE wasn’t only for private school grads. Proud to say that Eric and I are public school grads. I liked that this UYE didn’t say you had to be handsome or beautiful! All I can say is that this is the only way that the men at this UYE get to hang with beautiful women! I liked that this UYE was all about tasting gelato and sorbetto! I love gelato and sorbetto. I eat the $ 1.50 three scoop Pistachio gelato in a waffle cone at Costco at least once a week. I wanted to taste what a $ 2.00 mango sorbetto in a cup at La Gelateria tasted like. I like that I could meet some of my Unilocal friends in the real at this UYE. All this really stirred my interest! I met my Unilocal friend«The Cougar» Christian G. in the real. I say«The Cougar» because that was her profile picture for a very long time. All I can say is that in person she is one nice looking cat… GRROWWL! Christian brought her friend Aiperi P. Aiperi is from a country called Kyrgyzstan. If I had to guess, I think she prefers Dos Equis. She was the most interesting person at the UYE. She is very pretty and was wearing a black polka dots on white blouse… and orange pants. If her blouse was purple polka dots on pink; I would have thought she was dee Filipina. Purple, pink and orange on a woman is definitely dee Filipina. The most bubbly person at the UYE was Maka K. She’s a private school grad. She came with her friend Sandra K. whom was kind of bubbly too. You could say the two of them were«Tiny Bubbles». By the way Maka was the one that first posted the event for review. Oh ah Maka it’s «Gelateria» not«Geleteria» …damn private school grad. Krysten I. took time to get away from work, studies and the beach. She loved the gelato at La Gelateria. It was great to meet up with my good pal Terry K. I haven’t seen her in months. She hasn’t grown an inch in any direction since I saw her last. Good to see Unilocal friend Gary N. again too. He seems to go to all the UYE’s and Elite events. I haven’t seen him in months. It seems he’s growing in every different direction since I saw him last. I met Stephen«Roamin’ Ronin«H. for the first time. He said he was a Baby Boomer too. Looks young for a Boomer… way to represent! Paige I. was another interesting person. She is attending UH majoring in oceanography. She is checking to see if we can have a UYE on Coconut Island. Make sure it’s a UYE and not a Unilocal Elite event. Make sure the people that were at this UYE get first dibs… Did I ever tell you you’re my BFF? Anna F. came late but I was glad she made it. It was nice to get to meet and talk with her and is my new Unilocal friend. She too is a very interesting person. We all had name tags and Josie pasted her name tag on her left breast. OMG!!! I mean, would a man put his name tag on the front of his crotch??? But truthfully, I really enjoyed reading her name …“Josie C.»(like in C cup) on that breast. I have to admit I wished she had two name tags that day([Josie C.])([Josie C.]) …one on each breast! O_O .Oh Yeah! All in all, I thought this was a great UYE. Good gelato, good sorbetto, interesting people and one hell of a nice looking left breast. Sorry to pick on you Josie… but you know how I am! Thank you Eric and Josie for organizing this enjoyable UYE. P. S. Wish I had more time to talk with Josie and Eric.

This was my first UYE, too! Phew, all that virginal pressure off my back… I got to meet my Unilocal hero, Val Y. I got to sample gelatos, awesome! I got to meet other Unilocalers IRL and we all managed to have fun and, so far, none of us have turned out to be closet axe murderers. Woohoo! I brought Aiperi with me, and we both had a good time eating and meeting everyone. Eric T. was a sweetie and did damn good for a first time running a UYE. I came for the gelato, and stayed for the company! More than one person expressed surprise at «how far» I drove to come to this. Honey, I used to drive 3 hours to Seward for gelato when I lived in Anchorage. To say I’m dedicated would not be a stretch. Like Arnold, I’ll be back! Everyone seemed interested in where Aiperi is from, so I’ll put on my geography hat… Kyrgyzstan. It was great to meet everyone and eat delicious treats! If I didn’t know I was going to get stuck in rush hour traffic on the way home, I’d have bought a few pints for the freezer, but there’s always tomorrow :)

Can you believe this was my first UYE?! Regardless of what Val Y. has to say about how the younger generation is unorganized or how they don’t know how to plan events etc., I thought this UYE was great! La Galeteria is tiny, but 10 of us managed to squeeze ourselves in there – it probably brought us closer together! Yay for more Unilocal friends! Like Maka K., I came mostly for the gelato. It was delicious. Thanks, Eric T. and Josie C.

Real Sorbetto, Real Gelato, Real Peepo! First UYE evaaah and I could not have asked for a better way to break the«ice». Well, Gelato to be exact! We started with an introduction from the employee, who seemed kinda monotone with little personality but that was no big deal! Do you know why?!! Because you had 10 amazing personalities already in that small room with her! Haha. After her speech, we all grabbed our choice of kryptonite for just $ 2 each! Sorbetto or Gelato? Sorbetto is non dairy and Gelato is dairy. Yes I was paying attention. I got the Kona, Vanilla, Coconut, Lychee! And OMG!!! If you like the M.O. from bubbies, you will totally love the Kona gelato from here! So smooth, so good! The lychee sorbetto was the bomb also! Then, we all did a little DNA sampling! Haha. It gave us all a chance to taste majority of the flavors. If you want to go for original unusual flavors, then the green tea lemongrass and black seed sesame is for you. But I’ll stick to the KONA thank you! Haha. Definitely the best part was meeting those I met today. So amazing to put faces to reviews, talk threads, compliments, & tips. Christian G, Aiperi P, Stephen H, Paige l, Sandra K, Val Y, Kyrsten I, Maka K. Gary N, Anna, & Terry… You all«is» a blast to be around! Thanks for being my friend ;) And special shout out to the man, Eric T for putting this together just because of my hunt for good desserts! Definitely perfect choice! Too bad they close early, but at least can take out ;) Just gotta bring my cooler next time! Thank you thank you thank you! Can’t wait for the next UYE!
