I love coming to the UYE at the Brewseum(thank you Alexander G)! I enjoy spending time with fantastic, fun, friendly and fricken awesome Unilocalers! Add awesome beers and a friendly, yet competitive game of trivia and you’ve got a night full of laughter, camaraderie and a good buzz. Well, I had a fantastic buzz going on. Team PleY was in full force with the usual suspects: Of course Alexander G(quarterback), Kristine C(head cheerleaders) oh of course the QB and head cheerleaders are a couple! Along with the rest of the team: Matthew M, Paul, Brigitte(her bf was on another team… say what), Aunty Nadine, Alexander’s Dad, John, I finally got to meet Victoria and new friend Travis D. This was the most fun I have had. The questions have you thinking and also second guessing yourself. Though we didn’t win, we did come in 2nd which is awesome. I did have to ride home with the winning team(a few friends of mine) yeah, they got their little jabs in but team PleY, all day baby! If you have time and if you see a UYE for the Brewseum I suggest you attend. You will have loads of fun. Plus the pizza is good(though pricey) and their ale’s are my favorite. Gotta have my Ginga Ninja! Hope to see you all at the next one!

Trivia night as become an almost weekly thing in my household since the first Unilocal Trivia night I co hosted with Nadine. Alexander came bringing all the heat and we all had to bow down to the new leader. Ever since, every few weeks this summer Alexander has gotten a group together to represent Unilocal at its finest. The best part is it doesn’t matter if you’re late, can’t make every one or just don’t know much; you’re always welcome on Team Pley. I was late to this event due to work but Victoria, Paul and John let me slide into a seat at the end and while I knew very little, I still got to participate. Alexander and Matthew and great about listening to the team and coming to a consensus. Alexander’s dad was a hoot to see again, really kind man. I loved that we both knew the Popeye question, my favorite old school cartoon. It was wonderful to see Kristine, Jerrae and Travis. Victoria makes me laugh in a way I only do back in NY so you know she makes me feel like home. John and Paul are great to hang out with. I love the group that comes out to UYEs. Always solid company at these events! My boyfriend is always on an opposing team which adds to my desire to win and we did beat them [phew] plus we were close to winning the whole thing — only 1 point put us in second. Win or lose the night, great people with good drinks and snacks plus lots of laughs = a win in my book. Thank you to everyone for helping me de stress after work! I look forward to doing this again! :)

In a deck of cards, there are four Kings. Which King doesn’t have a moustache? Under the quiet, calm, and patient leadership of our Captain and Host, Alexander, we skillfully maneuvered through six rounds of ten questions each. We were so close to First Place AGAIN! Just one point separated us from #1 — I couldn’t believe it. So near, but… no cigar! ARG! You’d think that between Alexander’s father(Gary), Matt, Travis, Jerae, Kristine, Paul, Victoria, Brigitte, John, Alexander & me, we’d know more of the answers… It just wasn’t meant to be this time. Next time, we need YOU to come out and participate! It’s a lot of fun trying to figure out what the question is REALLY asking… A few of us received another punch on our stamp card. After 5 stamps, there’s a Big Ceremony, during which a Golden set of Wings is presented. Looking forward to Kristine & Matt getting their pins! Let’s go Tem pleY !! Oh — in case you were wondering about the answer to the above question… The King of Hearts doesn’t have a moustache! Check it out if you don’t believe me! I know you will!

One personal trait I have is that I know what I know and know what I do not know. In other words, I’m not too prideful to admit I don’t know something. And to be honest, I did not know a lot of the answers to the questions. Which is A-OK because the rest of the pleY team knew almost everything ranging from history and geography to arts and literature and television. With every question, hard or simple, came great teamwork asking everyone for their thoughts. The great teamwork was shown in our score of 46 points over the 6 rounds of 10 questions. I had a great time with everyone and my inner nerd has missed the glory days of being on the math team in elementary and intermediate school. I plan on making it out to as many trivia nights as I can in the future and avenging our 1-point loss.

For the life of me, I don’t know where my brain went. It’s either I’ve left it in San Diego or I’ve packed it up along the way on my journey to Hawaii and left it on the shelf somewhere and never picked it back up. It’s how I’ve always felt whenever things like math, history, science and literature questions comes up on all the screens at The Brewseum. Thank you for my thinking cap, Auntie Nadine! Alexander G. has the brains beyond a genius. He gets it from Master Gary G.(his dad) This is why he holds many UYE trivia nights. But what’s so cool about him you ask? He always is a true team player and never leaves his teams voice out of the equation. He plays in all fairness and it always helps lift the team to a pedestal whether it be a victorious 1st place or 2nd place night. We’ve had many nights at The Brewseum and every single one has been memorable. There were eclectic amounts of genius’s in the team and everyone was an expert in different subjects. Everyone worked like a puzzle piece whether you’re a cheerleader, popcorn runner, trouble maker(right Victoria and Jerrae?). It was so nice to meet Travis D for the first time and seeing Paul C and John N. One game I can honestly say I wasn’t an expert in was the Phone Game. In all simplicity, the phone games consists of phones and we are to surrender them at the middle of the table and not touch it or someone will take a shot(our version). –Aunty Nadine(Auntie Nads. Matthew M’s name for auntie tonight) gave Matthew M. a new name. –Manong Matt(Meaning– Ilokano term principally given to the first-born male in a Filipino nuclear family… basically old) –Jerrae, was feeling so good from her hard working day that she wanted us to play along the Phone Game with her. Of course, the verdict of the night was I’m the loser. Miss B. and I got into some deep conversations’s that again(I don’t know where my brain went) I ended up being the one to grab my phone first. Bllaaah!!! Wait a minute, there’s a happy ending to this! Since The Brewseum didn’t have small shots, I gulped most of Jerrae R’s beer. Little did I know that I would love the Ginza Ninja Ginger Cider. I found my beer! Too many memories and shenanigans with this team. Long live team pleY!

Heat and humidity. Super crowded room with rowdy people. Fans blowing hot air. Exit door CLOSED to prevent air from circulating. But when you have an awesome group of about a dozen Yeeps get together on a Wednesday trivia night at The Brewseum, you have a great time! Brainy host Alexander G. organized yet another great UYE to conquer all teams present dueling several rounds of trivia. Unlike previous visits I actually had several questions correct. For example, do you know the 48th state in United States? Alexander’s father is still in town so he joined us with Kristine C., Matthew M., Nadine C., Victoria M., John N. Travis D., Brigitte S., Matt M. and Jerrae R. Although we came in second place(only one point separated us from 1st place) it was a great showing for Team pleY. Thanks Alexander G. for a fun evening in yet another HOT and HUMID day in Honolulu. NOTE: Arizona is the 48th state. This is one of the few answers I got correct.
