First time coming and service was awful. Service was slow and did not go in the typical first come first serve order as normal restaurants do. Food seemed pricey and turned out to be so for the quality. Even though I live close by I will never come back. Much better and more friendly places to eat. I highly recommend helenas over here.

One of the best hawaiian foods in Honolulu. The Combo Plate(my favorite is Lau Lau and Kalua Pig) or Shoyu Poke Bowl is so good. Yummy! Large portions, good prices. The staff was always friendly.

Best lau lau ever. Really good long rice too. The 4 star rating would be for take out and if I rated on dine in it would drop. The place is great to eat your food and go. Nothing special. Nice people. But fantastic damn Laulau. So I’m a fan because I would have to drive so far now, no need.

Went there for the first time a couple weeks ago. I order a mini lau lau plate with rice and limited salmon. It’s what super yummy! Flavor was awesome! Pork was nice and juicy and three leaves. Everything was just really good. I couldn’t finish all my food in one sitting so I took it home. When I ate it the next day everything was still good and juicy. Highly recommend eating at this place and I will definitely be coming back

Laulau is one of the best. I grew up eating at Young when it was on Liliha. The menu selection was kin of limited. Therefore I just went with the Laulau combo plate the included poi, pipikaula, sweet potato, lomi salmon, and of course laulau. The star laulau was excellent… large and meaty, not too salty, and not too bland, enough luau leaves to counter balance the meat inside. The plate cost about $ 12…I guess that’s the price you pay for good hawaiian food.

Omg the combination plate is amazing. So far this is the place to go when your craving Hawaiian food. My husbands friend makes better Laulau though but she still go. The lomi salmon is always fresh and the poke is OMG amazing. Large portions of food at a reasonable price.

You can always count on getting a quick plate of Hawaiian food with somewhere to sit and a short line. Also if you ever want to order turkey tails or char Sue this is definitely the place! Who would ever think Young’s fishmarket has awesome Hawaiian food?

great lau lau, stopped in when I was in HNL in Jan. Talked to some HAL flight attendants on the way in to HNL and they recommended Young’s, and some of the usual, Helena, Ono, etc. but I wasn’t familiar with Young’s. I was looking to bring some back to LA. so I stopped in and tried some. some ono lau lau ladat… Ordered a dozen, frozen, to take back with me. Good choice. I wasn’t too keen on the chicken but the pork was good. Gotta stop in the next time I’m in the 808.

They have some of the best lau lau around and on Fridays it gets even better because its butterfish lau lau day. Be prepared to have your ID held hostage for the bathroom key because some forget to return it. Great people and great service!

My boss bought the office lunch a couple of weeks ago and being FREE I ordered the lau lau, kalua combo plate and it was very good… everything was moist and was enough for two meals…

Maybe I went a little rogue here and ordered things not review worthy and I think my rating reflects that fact. However there is always my not-often-done-enough Unilocal review update. So stay tuned. I went the ala carte route and did all side orders instead of doing the Hawaiian Plates. Make a pot of rice at home and you are good to go. Service-4 stars. The lady who helped me was very sweet. For the assorted meats sold by the pound ordering is cafeteria/okazuya style. Point and pick. If you don’t like one particular piece of chicken, for example, you can say«I want that one». For your ala carte laulau, you can choose to have them remove the ti leaves or not. I ordered the $ 6.50 each beef laulau — available Saturday’s only. I’ve never had beef laulau before so I had to order it. Kind of bummed that the taro leaves were under seasoned making it quite bland. The beef was nice & soft but lacking the smokey flavor normally associated with laulau. Going to have to try the pork laulau next time as a comparison. They also chopped my hoisin chicken leg quarters($ 5.50/lb) before boxing it up for me. Comes with gravy if you like but I declined. I would order this again but ask them to leave it whole because sometimes you just wanna be caveman-like and eat your chicken with two hands. Squid Luau($ 4.13). I’m used to eating squid luau that’s on the sweet side, but this one was not very sweet. I think added sweetness brings out the coconut flavor more. So if you prefer a subtle sweetness you’d probably like this. It was also a bit more soupy than I’m used to. Lots of tender chunks of squid I’ll give them that. The 3 items I bought can feed two people unless you like get kanak attack afterwards. Closed on Sunday’s. Senior citizens get a discount on Tuesday’s. Going to have to try the turkey tails next time & update review.

Good for quick and reasonable priced Hawaiian meal. Can order ala carte or plate lunch style. I like doing the aka carte and choosing lots of different things. Most things you purchase by the pound. Everything was decent. The squid luau could’ve been more coconut milk ish. It was more just salty. The Lomi salmon and poi was winnahz. The pork laulau was just ok. The pipikaula I wouldn’t order again. The kulolo was Ono. The haupia was more of the jello type then the creamy kind. Thursday– Saturday they have special laulau. Not bad. Would definitely go back!

The people working in there looked too busy… but not much customers. Its a nice local environment but good stuff. Loved seeing people smiling and feels like being with Ohana

Went in late in the evening — so out of a few things. Combo plate was good, no turkey tails available :-( Price was right, parking can be tight. Does not appear to be the best — but I’m a very«white» boy…

I was totally deceived! I’m so upset/sad! So, I was SUPER excited to try this place out because I heard they had veggie laulau. Well, they do… but it’s frozen. Which means, you can’t just go there, order it, and eat it there. They aren’t willing to heat it up to serve it to you either! They have veggie laulau, means… you can buy it frozen there, take it home, heat it up, and then finally eat it. Ugh! I was able to try the leaf parts of my friend’s meat laulau, which was good… and I had some lomi salmon and rice… which was good. … but c’mon! Please heat up your veggie laulau and serve it to me.

If you like Hawaiian food, this is the go-to place. They have ALL the favorites. Had the mini pork lau lau plate, lomi side, with rice. Also ordered a couple of their smoke turkey tail. All was soooo ono! Get there early, parking is a premium. There’s a small dining area, maybe 25 – 30 seats, can always take out. 5 stars all way!

Lau lau pork is full of tender pork, and leave-wrap was so tasty and tender. The Lau Lau plate came with 2 scoops of white rice, a small piece of Taro, and a small cup of salsa. The turkey tail was almost all gone when we got there at 1pm. It was so good. Some are tender, sweet and salty, some are a bit more chewy. I liked to chew on them in both textures. They are very similar to Chinese BBQ pork, but healthier, because they are Turkey! Order at the counter. The nice young man took our order, prepare it immediately, and chopped up the Turkey tail for us. Very efficient and friendly. Yes, I ordered a Lau Lau plate & turkey tail. How can I not when many Unilocaler highly recommended both? And I am glad I tried both. As usually, skipping carbs(2 scoops of white rice) gives me the right to eat Lau Lau Pork & Turkey Tails :)

I’ve never had laulau. Ever. Today would’ve been the first time but they only serve the chicken laulau on Thursdays):(pork everyday, chicken Thursdays, fish Fridays, beef Saturdays). I ended up getting ½ pound char siu with side rice and side chicken long rice. It was actually too much food for me to finish. Char siu wasn’t the best I’ve had but the chicken long rice was delicious! My friend got the laulau plate and he couldn’t finish all that either. Pork laulau, sweet potato, pipikaula, lomi salmon, and two huge scoops of rice! Good portions, decent prices, and friendly service. I’ll be back on Thursday for my chicken! Other info: Cafeteria style dining, carry your tray to any open seat, even if there’s people sitting on the table(helloooo high school again) $ 10 – 16 depending what you get They take card :)

If you are in Honolulu, and have a craving for the BESTLAULAU(be it one for lunch/dinner, or 50 for a catered party/potluck/luau), YOUNG’s is considered by many to be your best bet. They are BIG, FRESH, and made with high-quality meat and taro leaves. As others have noted, most of their other dishes are above-average as well. From the beef stew, to kalua pork, poke, poi, haupia, and lomi lomi salmon, you really can’t go wrong. Honestly, if you’re in the area and want solid hawaiian food, Young’s should be at the top of your list to check out! *Note that parking can be TERRIBLE in their stripmall complex(usually at peak lunch/dinner hours), but usually you can find something by driving around a bit on the street.*
