No, no and no. Visited today and the white haired woman at the desk was extremely un-welcoming. Well, she was downright rude. I remember when this place had young people at the reception who would greet you with a smile and actually help you. I wanted help with the jewelry. The woman was obviously not interested in engaging with me. The art on the walls was decent, but no wonder there are so few red dots in this gallery. Put this sour woman somewhere else. She doesn’t belong in sales.

In addition to a range of paintings, all set in the local area, there is a nice sized selection of jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. A large portion come from a well-known local artist named Carolyn Crystal, whose works feature her handmade glass beads. Earrings start at around $ 38, necklaces around $ 130. It’s great to be able to purchase wearable original art — knowing you won’t find the same pieces anywhere else.

Local art in a gallery setting, classes and educational camps, and a sweet theater in the round– such a vibrant art scene. I applaud this source of creativeness, hats off to those that make it happen within this multi use community space. Well worth a visit, and support. Most art for sale was less than $ 350, all of it local.

Columbia Center for the Arts is a non-profit art organization that nurtures creative life in this section of the Columbia Gorge. They are dedicated dedicated to bringing you visual, performing, and literary art events to the community. The art center features a cool art gallery, a theater, and class room space. I really like community art centers, especially when I have a chance to sample a wide variety of styles that local artists offer. The selection here is interesting, the quality is high, and the prices are very reasonable. I was also lucky to come in during their«seconds» sale and came away with a nicely glazed collection plate. I also enjoyed a nice chat with the friendly folks here, and hope that I will pass this way again.
