I will never go back to this place again due to rude servers. I have been given this restaurant so many chances that I no longer want to go again. The food is good but the servers are so rude. They don’t smile they smirk. Seriously the attitude! Every time I go there the place was always empty, no smiles. I have no idea how this place is still in the business.

Okay hmmm where should I start … Well let’s get straight to the main course meal which happens to be my favorite dish from Asian Cuisine … Their Mongolian beef is hands down second to none. They have the best Mongolian beef around !!! My visit was a pleasure for sure. I also enjoyed the appetizers. We tried both the egg and spring rolls. Both were good in their own way — I did prefer the fried one. The cost was good and the service was friendly.

Proof positive that mom ‘n’ pop holes in the wall are generally good bets. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Buyer beware, though… it is pretty authentic. That can be dangerous fi you are trying to be adventurous… at a previous visit I ordered a soup that had cubes of blood in it(it’s intentional and culturally appropriate, but wasn’t expected…) so that was a shocker, but I can’t blame the restaurant for my being uninformed. However, sticking to the basics that I know, I am always VERY satisfied with my experiences here. Today I was greeted immediately, told to sit wherever and served my drink right away. I ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer and got 3 fresh pork and shrimp spring rolls for 3.99. I ordered the Phở with eye of round, tripe, tendon and meatballs. Before the bowl comes out, you get a plate of accoutrements including fresh basil, fresh cilantro, fresh bean sprouts, jalapeño slices and a lime wedge. The bowl of soup came out very shortly after, steaming and smelling like heaven. I added my extras, along with a modest but potent dollop of chili sauce, and went to town. Be careful with the little jar of chili sauce, even the tiny spoonful set my lips on fire and made me drink copious amounts of water. It was so worth it. The server checked on me occasionally and filled my drink appropriately. It’s worth mentioning, I think, that every time I go in there, the majority of patrons are Asian, so I feel confident in it’s authenticity. I will grant you, I have never been to VietNam, so I don’t know what TRUE authentic Vietnamese food is, I think it it probably as close as we get here in Hoover.

It was fine. I really like Vietnamese cuisine. This place had a wide range of Phở combinations. I got the kitchen sink version including tripe and tendon. There was certainly nothing wrong with it and with enough sauce added I enjoyed it. On its own it was just OK. And that’s fine. The sauces are there for a reason. Went on a Saturday at lunch. There was a couple there when we got there and another small group came in before we left but I have a hard time seeing how this place stays open. It was beyond dead. A single person runs the register, serves and from what I could tell cooks too though there may have been a cook back there. The food was already prepared when we got there. Its soup so no big surprise. We also got egg rolls. Good enough but clearly premade and very possibly frozen supermarket grade heated in microwaves. Not terrible. Not great. Server was pleasant and attentive. Really two active tables so not hard to be. We’ll go back because its close but Saigon Noodle House is superior if you want good Vietnamese food. I’ve heard Photo Que Huong is good as well. There’s nothing wrong with this place. There’s just nothing special about it either.

Excellent! I went there at 4pm so not a lot of people were there. I got my food not even 5mins after I ordered, appetizers + my dish. I ordered the spring rolls that were delicious, super fresh and the peanut sauce was great! I also got the bun bo as a meal and it was great as well, the noodles were very fresh and soft, the meat was great and everything else was good(advice: add the Vietnamese egg rolls to it so it is even better) If you except to come in and have a nice conversation with the waitress do not go there, they are not rude but not very talkative(as this is the case with most Vietnamese restaurant, it is just how they are) Paid $ 16(without tip) for both, witch is decent i think.

Amazing food! Very delicious! But there is waitress with a serious attitude. She was very rude. I would love to go back but that lady is really preventing from going back. Food is 5 stars and service 2 stars.

The menu shown is no longer accurate. A Large(Superbowl) is no longer $ 8.99 but $ 10.99. The Phở is the best in town but not the cheapest. Service is mediocre depending on which server you have, I would suggest going Tue. — Thur. if you plan on dining in. I used to frequent this establishment at least twice a week, but the hike in price coupled with mediocre service only has me coming back to satisfy Phở cravings(1 – 2 times per month).

I want to give this place a good rating but I honestly just can’t. The service good, but the Phở is below mediocre, The broth is so greasy and has no flavor other than the grease, you feel like you’re just drinking oil. The noodle and the meet was on point, and they give you a lot of meat for the price you paid, at least I can’t complain about that. But for real, the most important ingredients to Phở is the broth, until you get the broth right, the Phở will never be good.

I ordered phở#1. It was weird. Some of the meat was the consistency of a gummy Vitamin. I didn’t even eat it… Perhaps it is just very authentic, but it was unlike meat I’ve ever seen before. Also, my vegetables were browning. Not good… Sorry!

This place is closed on Mondays, so after I got off work one time, I drove up here and was sad they weren’t open that day. When I came back, I was able to order the ginger pork. It was decent and enjoyed the dish. The pork resembled more like cha siu pork which made happy. However, everything else about it didn’t make me happy. The ginger pork is a wet dish so the sauce swished everywhere. They didn’t bother to wrap that up so it leaked everywhere into the bag and in my car. Then as I tried to remove some of the rice and the to-go box away from the plastic bag, the box carrying my entrée snapped several times and I had to rescue it while cleaning up the mess all over my counter. The rice fell on the floor. That ruined the meal for me. The restaurant itself is very Asian-inspired and makes a nice quiet dinner. Just expect to be the only person or party dining here.

This is my go-to place for phở in greater Birmingham area. There are two others that I know of. One on 280 called Saigon and another on Green Springs Hwy, name of which I’m not sure. Most aspects of this restaurant are on par with many I’ve been in Atlanta or other cities where there are a lot more Vietnamese. Soup is authentic and so is the sparsely decorated interior. Little service offered is effective if not courteous. Portion size is noticeably smaller compared to other phở houses outside Birmingham. However, small portion sizes seem to be the norm here in Birmingham area. Sometimes I order regular and then I end up ordering a side order of noodles for $ 1 that comes in a little cup with soup. However, doing that changes taste of the whole thing so I usually go for the super large. Super large here would probably be equal to at most large size in other cities. I usually go for P-1, a combination of everything, including tendons, tripes, beer, etc. Lately, I noticed that they don’t put much of tripes. Occasionally, their bean sprouts and herbs can be a llittle fresher but most of the time, they are ok. In comparison with Saigon, I like this place better because soup is hotter and more flavorful. My observation is Saigon removes a lot more fat in the soup stock that it’s not as hot or flavorful. Traditionally, phở soup’s gotta be so hot that rare beef slices are cooked as the bowl arrive on your table. Also, Saigon’s décor is a lot chic and fancier, making it feel a bit non-authentic. All in all this is a no-frills, plain vanilla phở house. As that’s hard to come by in Birmingham, I’m relieved that I have at least one in this town. Three stars for satisfying good taste but no more due to its small size for money.

So good! Whenever I come to Birmingham, I try to go here almost everyday for lunch or dinner. Sometimes. we go for lunch AND dinner. It’s in a Publix complex, so the parking lot is pretty busy all the time. However, the restaurant is rarely full. I’m not sure why — but their food is truly amazing. If you like Chicken Phở(phở ga) — this is the place to go. I only eat phở ga so I love coming here. I’ve tried other items here also when my family ordered other plates. All of them were really delicious. Although compare to other Phở places, their portion size is pretty small with their noodles. Normal portion sizes for other menu items. Phở Ga all the way.

Pros: Very friendly service and very fast. Gave me great suggestions since I had never had Vietnamese before. Cons: Ordered shrimp with vegetable and everything is red. Had a small container of an oily sauce(not sure what it was called) that smelled rancid. I don’t think it was bad just very different than Chinese food that I’m used to.

I’ve been here more times than I can count; I really dig it. Everything I’ve had is good to amazing. I had braised short ribs tonight that were made extra spicy which were awesome. I discovered the charbroiled pork on the second trip and it’s seriously some of the best pork of any kind that I’ve had in my life. I took an Asian food nut with me last night and he really liked it. I’m glad I don’t have to to go out to 280 or into Homewood to get Vietnamese food.

This restaurant has opened in the Publix shopping center at the corner of Highway 150 and Suphur Springs/Stadium Trace. It has opened in the exact same location where at least four other Asian restaurants have failed. I remember the location being a Chinese place that served Dim Sum on weekends. Then it was Chinese with a sushi bar, and then after that it was a Vietnamese restaurant. So, hopefully the new restaurant will have what it takes to survive. The interior has been renovated again, and the theme is Vietnamese and Chinese. The menu has a fairly extensive list of Vietnamese dishes and the typical American-Chinese dishes. I dined with wife and one daughter on Saturday for lunch. We started with Goi Cuon appetizer. It contained Shrimp and Pork and we thought it was pretty good. My daughter had the Bun Cha Gio and she seemed to like it. My wife had a Vietnamese special that was listed on a dry erase board. It was pork wrapped in a soft white noodle and served with veggie and fish sauce. She thought it was good. I had a bowl of Phở, and it was good. The noodles were a little thicker that I’ve normally had in Phở, but that wasn’t a big deal. The broth had a nice flavor. I say definitely give it a try.
