The new ownership is personable, professional, and really on the ball but the staff is very green. Came in to pick up an order of 2 items 35 minutes after I called it in(I was told 25 min). It’s been an hour and I’m still standing here waiting. Of course this only happens when the owner isn’t here, but still… I’ll mention it to him the next time I see him an he’ll apologize and make it right I’m sure — he’s a pro. But it’s just a major pain in the neck and very aggravating. Did I mention that I stopped to pick up ice cream on my way here and it’s been sitting in the car? So there’s that…

We stopped here for lunch on the way out of NYC. It was a little farther from the highway than we expected, but still super easy to get to. I had the sicilian style pizza, and it was very good. The thick crust was nicely doughy in the middle and crunchy on the outside. Boyfriend had something with feta, mushrooms, and maybe eggplant. He really enjoyed it as well. I do have a complaint about the garlic knots, though. They were WAY too salty. Like pouring sea salt down your throat. Stay away from the knots — but the pizza is great!

The ownership has now changed and the place is now called Hope Pizza. The place has gone through a few different owners and names these past few years and I feel like today it is the best out of all the years. The have specialty pizzas like buffalo chicken and others. Fresh vegetables are used and the sauce is flavorful(actually has some spices in it instead of being just canned tomato paste like others have in the area). The people working there are always very kind and friendly. Comparable prices to the other places in the area. It’s got a table outside and a table inside if I remember right(didn’t exactly pay attention to that). Overall very good!

Gio’s is programmed on the cell phone, so I can call in on my way home and pick up a pizza. It’s got the best crust in town. and I love the sauce. When we moved to Blairstown 8 years ago, we were thrilled to find good pizza so close by. Since then, several new places have opened, and I’ve tried them all. My favorite is still Gio’s. Their subs and calzones are great too!

While the place looks unimpressive, the pizza is a remarkable find. The crust is crisp and chewy, the toppings distinctive. This may not be worth a trip from NY on its own, but it is certainly worth timing your road trip on I-80 to have lunch here.

I love that I can get a large pizza in NJ for under $ 15 … and Gio’s even makes tasty ones — bonus! I think they’ve got new ownership and if they do, they really need to change how they do the sausage: its really crumbly and overwhelming on the pizza. It weighs it down and is a bit salty. Also, the pizza was too large to fit in the box so it squished the side too much to be able to fold it properly. minus 1 point for those two things. Gio’s isn’t a place you want to go to sit and have a meal in, but it’s a great place to call in advance on the way home from wherever — it’s conveniently located a bit off 80 at the Hope exit so I always get it home nice and hot(to Liberty)… and it shares a building with a liquor store. It’s always the place I go first when I’m visiting for a taste of home
