You know those travel stories everyone has about the nastiest places they’ve stayed? Well the Relax Inn comes pretty close. After checking in(and in all fairness the night manager was as nice as could be, but it was all downhill from there) the first sight I saw upon locating the room was a very sketchy looking gentleman coming out of a nearby room. I hope he was delivering a pizza, but his car didn’t indicate that was a possibility so I fear something nefarious was underway. Moving on, upon entering the room, I had to search for a light that worked as all the wall fixtures failed to turn on. Fortunately the bathroom light worked, but in hindsight I wish it hadn’t given the large amount of water damage visible in the ceiling tiles. After that, I retreated to the car to bring in some bags & while doing so, a creepy old man staying in the room next door decided to have a peak out the window to see what was going on. Except he did so without bothering to put any clothes on, thus exposing me to the full monty. I know Hope is the birthplace of Bill Clinton, but I didn’t need to see the other guests doing their best impression of him. Some other nuggets from the room: the fridge didn’t work, the toilet wouldn’t stop running & the sheets were a little dirty. Overall, I’d say you’ll be much better off skipping the Relax Inn & paying for a better hotel if you need to stay in Hope. Otherwise, if you like an adventure & have a tetanus shot… take your chances, but you’ve been warned.
