Great place to eat! Southern cooking at it’s best! Nice people! Owners go «the extra mile» to please!

I visited this restaurant about a week ago because I was looking for some good soul food! I’m glad I chose this spot! The food was great!!! I had fried chicken, mac and cheese and collard greens! Delicious!!! It’s a quiet atmosphere and the service was great… service with a smile! I’ll definitely be back!

First of all, the staff is very friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. I ordered the Fried Catfish with Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens. The meal was very good and the price was reasonable. If I’m in the area again, I will definitely be back.

Great place to have real southern cooking. It is «true» southern style, with a hint of sweetness added to the stewed tomatoes (which topped the black eyed peas) and the cabbage. The rolls are indescribably delicious. I was amazed at how good the collard greens are. You will be sorry if you miss this place.

The Food is good. I enjoyed my fried chicken wings, Mac and cheese, and collards. Delicious food and nice atmosphere.

What can I say!!! Chop steak, chicken fried steak, meatloaf, any side will be some of the most delicious food you’ve ever had!!! The cabbage side is especially good! Go, you are missing out!!!

Food was simply delicious. We started with a appetizer, beef stew. It tasted like Progresso and was good. We like Progresso. I ordered the catfish with a side of fried okra and black eyed peas. My wife ordered the wings with a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. We ordered more wings to go after we ate our food. Service was pleasant and prompt. The only negative comment was that our server didn’t mention any specials and we missed out in the scrumptious looking prime rib which was served at the table across from us. We live in MD and will swing by again when passing through the Petersburg area. Highly recommend!

This place was recommended to me while I was in the area, and I’m not even a little upset about the recommendation. It was a great choice!
A few of us came here for lunch, and loved it! I had the Country Fried Steak with fried okra and mashed potatoes, accompanied with a sweet tea and cornbread. Plus I tried the biscuits that were brought to the table.
The biscuits are like a mad scientist creation of a biscuit and a roll. They are very good, soft, delicious, and very much like a roll in overall appearance, but then amazingly flaky and soft inside.
These were so great! Definitely delicious.
I was then greeted by my corn bread, prior to my meal, and these were equally amazing. It was like cake! And I don’t mean it was super sweet, although it had a sweet taste. I mean it was like cutting into a cake/​muffin. So soft and delicate. Nothing like any other cornbread I’ve had before!
The chicken fried steak was a bit different than normal, it was a fried steak (as advertised), but covered in a brown gravy like you’d expect with mash potatoes… instead of the more typical white peppercorn gravy. It was still very good, but not as expected.
The sides were good of course as well… but not overly seasoned. I’m assuming this is to prevent any complaints about to much salt, or something to that extent. But the fried okra were fried wonderfully, and tasted very good with just the right amount of batter to them.
And the mashed potatoes were light, creamy, and not soaked in butter.
While the location is a bit questionable on the drive, the actual location itself is very comfortable and inviting. Service was speedy considering our table size and pretty numerous changes/​request, and it seemed every employee was beyond polite and welcoming.
I sadly won’t be back in the area for a bit, but when I am I will definitely be coming here to fill back up again on some delicious soul food.

I enjoy dropping in for lunch with my family. Great southern dining. Mac and cheese cooked perfect and I love the collard greens.

Food just ok, nothing special. Small portions, slow service. The only thing I really liked was the iced tea.
