Fantastic food. Always fresh and flavorful. My top choice for lunch! Soups are especially good this time of year. Had the black bean with spicy sausage today. Great taste and perfect«thickness», not runny at all like some other places. The chipotle salmon wrap with greens and a ginger dressing was just outstanding!

Visited The Peasant Grill for the first time today. The first thing I thought was«wow, what a tiny place.» But after seeing so many people inside, and smiling faces enjoying the food, I knew something was good about this place. I ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich, and all I can say is that it was amazing. The ordering process was so easy and my food was delivered to my table promptly. The reason why this place is full all the time is because it is great. The food, the staff, the atmosphere, all of it was great. My return will happen surely and often. If anyone is in hopewell or just passing through hopewell, I suggest giving this place a try. My next thing to try will probably be the panini with chicken and spinach

The Peasant Grill serves fresh, tasty, homemade food. The steak sandwich is reliably excellent, as is the chocolate cake and soups.

Loved this place! Friendly staff, smell of brownies baking, great coffee, diet Boylans! I had the chipotle salmon with some delicious roasted Brussel sprouts(with slow roast garlic cloves, carrots!), and some delicious Red Rice Chicpea Salad(cumin, cilantro & sherry viniagrette!). Finished with a decadent French Apple cake & coffee. Can’t wait to try their Caesar salad, made from scratch!

The Peasant Grill is without a question my favorite place for lunch in the Hopewell/Princeton area. Their marinated flank steak is more flavorful and delicious than any I have eaten and frankly converted my girlfriend to red meat. The grilled chicken breast is fantastic, as are the range of side salads and grains. Their dinners are also fantastic, my favorite being the salmon teriyaki(though my girlfriend loves the crab cakes). The restaurant is not pretentious or overly priced and is square focused on quality food in a clean and comfortable environment. Outside seating in Spring or Summer is a plus.

My wife and I have been going to the Peasant Grill for years now. It’s our go-to place for lunch and dinner. The staff is always awesome and the food is simple and delicious. You can always count on walking in the door and smelling the delicious cakes and desserts. Don’t even get me started on the Apple Cake. It’s to die for! The owners Michelle and Barry make you feel right at home and you can tell take some serious pride in what they do. If you’re looking for a great meal in a historic quaint little town this is the place to be. Oh and did I mention they cater! Recommendations: The BALT wrap, Split Pea Soup, Butter Nut Squash Soup, Eggplant Parm(Best I’ve ever had), Baby Spinach Salad, and any one of the deserts if we’re being honest. If you see the Apple Cake or Chocolate Cake displayed get a piece to go immediately!

Have been a customer for several years and last visit was my only bad experience but I won’t be returning. That said, PG’s in a great location in the heart of historic downtown Hopewell. Delicious, made-with-love lunch fair. You place and pay for your order at the counter and the food is brought to you. The venue can get jam packed but the food is worth it. Also, they have outside seating. PG is owned by a husband and wife team. He couldn’t be sweeter but if she’s taking orders R-U-N. Recently(the first time I ever saw her taking orders at the counter), she engaged in an elevated shouting match with my girlfriend over the speed in which my friend was placing her order(and it was one of the few times that the café was not super busy!) I have never seen my girlfriend lose her temper but I backed her up completely. It was really horrible. The husband made the apologies to our table as we were finishing our meal but my friends and I have decided not to return. Who wants to get screamed at during a girl’s lunch? It’s a shame… PG is a successful, delicious, quaint establishment. Too bad the owner can’t handle the success! Every business owner should be so lucky!

I think it used to be better. The grilled chicken caesar is no longer the best in town and that is my ‘go-to’ lunch. Disappointing, so-so lettuce and not cold enough. Staff seems harried and I heard them yell at a customer today. Seriously? Maybe it was a bad day for them but I am inclined to go elsewhere

This place is a special find. We had five in our group, and each of us raved about our meals. We look forward to returning here again soon. Owners were very nice, and made us feel at home.

I went here to meet my future college roommate! It was a cute little place to grab a bite to eat. They seemed to be out of a few things which bothered me a bit. They had a nice area outside to sit which was where we sat. Since they were out of the Ahi Tuna I wanted they replaced it with Salmon which was actually quite delicious. It looked so good it made it on my Snapchat story(which I didn’t save the picture and that made me upset haha.) Give it a shot!

I travel almost every week through Hopewell on the way to work and I happened to finally get to The Peasant Grill. The owner(Barry?) I believe, was so welcoming and made you feel like a regular. He was proud of his food and serves up some awesome dishes. Everyone else that works here is upbeat and friendly too. I was going to order the 15.95 dinner when Barry suggested ordering a la carte if I didn’t want that amount of food. For $ 10.50 I got two large meatballs and a side of kale and carrots. My God these meatballs were great. You could tell they were simmered for hours before you had them. And they were the perfect blend of different meats too. The kale was fresh and done to perfection. Right before I paid and left, I asked if the trays coming out of the oven were coconut macaroons. Sure enough they were, but they said they weren’t quite done and we’re still too hot. Right before I left I was given a little sample in a soufflé cup and they were also incredible. A+++!!

I would recommend any of the soups. The guy who makes them is like a soup genius. Also the bread they use for there sandwiches are really good. I should really just say that all there stuff is great. Also I love the antique shops and little shops near by.

I have just enjoyed a grilled flank steak, fresh mozzerella, roasted red pepper, and pesto sandwich at the Peasant Grill, accompanied by a «potato puff»(a scoop of fresh mashed potato, cheddar cheese, and bacon). Everything in the case appeared fresh, including the flank steak, which was nicely browned on the outside and rare in the center. Perfect early dinner with a nice cup of coffee. This was my first visit here, and I look forward to trying other items from the menu in the future. Everything looked so appetizing. Made a second visit on 6⁄24. Spotted enticing chicken panini on focaccia bread with a thick layer of spinach ready to grill in the deli case and ordered it. Gazpacho and coffee rounded out the meal. Everything, again was so fresh and perfectly seasoned.(I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo!) The quality of the ingredients, the proportions, and the presentation really make this place a find. I look forward to another visit and another dish from the menu.

A friend brought me here for lunch today. It looks like a very cute very small deli style luncheonette, but with upscale food. I had a cup of the veg lentil soup and the spinach salad with goat cheese, cranberries, candied pecans and red onion with a very light vinaigrette. Delicious, huge, and filling. My friend had the curried chicken salad sandwich, which he loved. If I lived closer, I would definitely do take out from here for an easy dinner. Big squares of Mac and cheese, and a luscious looking pesto pasta salad were calling to me from the deli case. Alas, another time. As a bonus, the restaurant filled with the smell of gooey chocolate chip cookies as we were getting ready to leave. SOMETHING wonderful had just come out of the oven. I guess everything really is freshly baked. I’d wear a perfume of that scent if someone bottled it. A great casual lunch experience.

Wow! Absolutely NOWAIT to get our sandwiches I’m amazed, given the amazing Unilocal reviews. and to think that I was annoyed at my husband for not calling in the order ahead of time. Sorry, honey! P. S. The take-out option is great, in the event that for some reason you are too incapacitated to dine in.

In a small town of Hopewell there is a gem of a place called Peasant Grill. We came here based on a local’s recommendation and were so impressed with the quality of the food as well as the friendliness of the staff. We felt like we were special customers and the owner Barry took time to explain everything to us and made sure we were happy with our food. Tonight is our second time coming back and we will probably come back again tomorrow for lunch.

This is a great place for lunch or take out dinner– the desserts are delicious so, save some room. Michele and Barry are super nice, don’t get upset if this place is busy when you walk in, their service is super fast! BYOB.
