First visit and I thought is was great. First, service was prompt and attentive, answering questions on the menu. I had the beef brisket sandwich which was good sized and very tasty; French fries were hot and tasty, too. We agreed we would be back.

Got the turkey sandwich and the quality of the turkey meat was so bad I could not even eat it. The fries were frozen I’m sure. Service was slow and overall just not worth the money at all. The kids meals were very bad as well. Super low quality ingredients. Wish we would have gone so e place else.

Had dinner here before going to a movie next door. Riley, couldn’t have been a more attentive or friendlier server. The food came quickly and I tried the half sandwich half soup combo. Soup was a delicious french onion, and reuben was perfect. A little messy, but if the ingredients taste good, I’m good. I chose a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale, so can’t speak to their tap choices. My partner had a french dip, which was tasty, but the fries and cole slaw were nothing special. The place wasn’t too busy, so we’ll be back to try more on the menu.

As a student at «The U», I admit to spending a few late nights at the campus location of the Big Ten Bar when I probably should’ve been studying. Unbelievable as it may sound, seldom for libations(couldn’t afford it then). Always for the hot turkey sub, and occasionally for the hot roast beef sub. Both were amazing(some 30 years ago). Having recently moved back to MN, I couldn’t wait to get back to the Big Ten for their subs(curious after all these years). Happy to report nothing has changed. Still amazing. This time around, with my young(9 y/o) son in tow. He now begs me to take him to his absolute favorite sub place. Given distance from our house to campus, I am almost always reluctant. Happy to discover Hopkins location(much closer to our house). Stopped in Hopkins location a week ago, this time also with 12 y/o daughter joining us, and ordered the turkey and roast beef subs, as well as fish tacos. Subs were consistent in taste, quality and abundance as campus location, and now daughter is converted. Neither child will eat a sub from anywhere else now, least of all those national chains that serve mostly subs. Fish tacos, I am happy to report, were also robustly flavorful and more than adequate in quantity. Now wife is curious… she is a keen fan of fish tacos, and can’t wait for all of us to go. I should also mention that service on a Saturday night(when kids and I went) was attentive, prompt and accurate, despite being very busy. Prices at Hopkins location are slightly higher than campus location presumably because of location and clientele.

Big Ten has excellent subs(try the pot roast sub) and good hot wing sauce. Beyond that the food is average at best. The beer selection is usually solid and the staff is friendly and attentive.

I went to the Big Ten with some friends for a late night snack and it was as wonderful as I hoped. We ordered cheese curds and Cajun wings. The cheese curds and wings came out fresh, hot, and in quick time. I also ordered the All American burger with fried onions and sweet potato fries. My burger was cooked to perfection and had all of the flavors that I had hoped. As usual, the service is quick, efficient, and very friendly.

A nice local Pub with okay food. The seasoning and sauce used for the tater tots was interesting and okay. The burger was okay and the bun was nice. I tried the carnita’s pulled pork sandwich no bun and is very good. The tots today were very yummy. Good place to come for a quick lunch. The Turkey bacon wrap and Reuben are very good as well.

I wanted to give this local place a try and they just failed on nearly every account. The service was painfully slow(it took us an hour and 15 minutes to eat lunch during a weekday). The food was also really bland, fries were undercooked. I think there are better options in Hopkins.

Nothing I can really add that hasn’t already been said but here goes. We went with three couples and 6 kids under 4, so to be fair, we were a bit of a shit show too, but the food was not even approaching mediocrity. Drinks– my summit tasted pristine so they clearly keep their tap lines relatively clean. The bloody Mary my friend ordered tasted strange. Stick to beer. Service was great, drinks took a little while but they got the kids drinks and crayons, etc right out to us. Server was friendly and did a great job. Food was not good. Seems like from other reviewers the wings and sub’s are the way to go. To be fair, none of us got the memo, so we had an assortment of sandwiches which straddled the line between barely edible and crime against humanity. As others have said, it felt like they backed the Sysco truck up to our table and unleashed hell. Tator tots and cheese curds were the only decent things that came out of the kitchen. If you are unfortunate enough to end up with fries on your plate eat them quickly, as they seem destined to scurry back to their freezer burned, pithy, pre-frier state. Enough griping… Stick to beer, chat with the friendly staff and you’ll be fine.

I’ll admit it, I’m a regular. My family and I have been frequenting the Hopkins Big 10 since my first father-daughter«date»(she slept in her stroller while I had a beer and an appetizer and watched college hockey). First, the food. It’s good! It’s nothing extraordinary, but I’ve never complained about the quality of the food. Monday is burger and beer night, and it’s a great deal. I see others have mentioned the fried pickle chips, and I’d agree that theirs are the best I’ve had. A few tips, though: 1, if you want lettuce and tomato on your burger don’t forget to order it «California Style». 2, I’d ask for nachos with the fish tacos since they come with fries by default, and the fries don’t really pair well. My biggest complaint about the food is that they do seem to skimp on the extras a bit. Lettuce on your burger? It costs extra. I’m not even sure if they offer celery with their wings.(The wings are good, BTW.) The big reason we keep coming back is that the place is so family friendly. It’s our go-to local spot, especially when there’s a gaggle of kids involved. Another big tip: I’m not sure if it’s marked on the menu, but you can sub any cooked vegetable for the mountain of fries on the kids’ meals. We love the option of feeding them carrots, corn, or peas. One more thing: In the summer months, this is your best option for outdoor dining on Main Street. It’s spacious, and there’s a great vibe with the street life going by(we’ve stopped and conversed with friends as we walked by and vice versa). One caveat: The setting sun shines straight down Main and into the eyes of anyone facing to the west, and the only remedy is to raise the umbrella on the table next to yours. They have a policy of only having the umbrellas up at occupied tables, so unless there’s someone there you’re out of luck. Bottom line: Decent food, good atmosphere, recommended if you’re dining with kids. Not a date night place, but good for catching the game, gathering with friends, or a happy hour.

Took the family for dinner last night. Service was friendly but the food took a long time to come out. They messed up our orders and the food was the definition of mediocre. There’s no reason I would ever go back again.

Been here after games at nearby Hopkins Central Park. The long and the short of it: Beer selection is pretty good. Food is alright. Service is very lacking. It’s rarely been busy when I’m there and it still takes 3 minutes short of forever to get served, to get a drink, to get a check.

Favorite subs in MN! They started at the U of M campus. Love that place as well as Hopkins location! Favorite subs are Italian(not available at Hopkins though), tuna, roast beef, pastrami. Okay, we like them all!

Follow these steps and, trust me, you’ll have at least 4 star experience. Otherwise you’ll be stuck in 2-star land with the rest of these reviewers… Step One: Sit at the bar. Because it’s a sports bar. Don’t even comment on how it’s not a high-end restaurant, because it’s not. It has old décor, old tables, and servers who would rather talk to each other than to you. Which is fine, because this is the time where you probably need to catch up with whoever you’re dining with anyways. Unless you’re dining alone, then, sorry. Step Two: Order a beer. This is a sports bar, people. No wine or foo-foo cocktails needed. If you can’t drink beer? That stinks. I guess you’re allowed to order a wine or cocktail in that case. Step Three: Order wings. Either the hot & spicy which my boyfriend could eat every single day, or the Caribbean which I could eat every single day. Step Four: Order another beer. Step Five: Order a sub — any sub. NO fries. Turkey(no onions), in my opinion. Step Six: Pay(and tip, please). Go home. Take a nap. Yay!

Don’t go for food. Don’t go for service. Really, better not to go at all.(Though they seem to have a good happy hour) I’ve stopped in a few times over the years. I always think it can’t be as bad as I remember, but then it is worse. Last trip: Almost inedible spicy chicken wrap. Way too much sauce which was a flavor unlike any spicy wing sauce I’ve ever had. Chicken was too chewy, either overcooked or spent too much time in the freezer. Fries were barely warm and soggy. The kids didn’t eat their chicken nuggets. The mac & cheese is Kraft Easy Mac, so at least you know what you’re getting.

Big Ten… The name is so cool! Other then that… Way to many choices to have very average food and sub par service. Only redeeming factor would be the large outdoor seating. The subs are not bad if you do stop by and the beer is at least cold. In my book… NEXT!

I was told this place was pretty great. I was disappointed that after being sat, we hadn’t had a server come to our table for quite some time. The table of four that arrived almost ten minutes after us were served before our table of two. That being said, the portions were generous and the staff was friendly(when they did come around).

A buddy of mine and I were going to get some lunch before a movie. Big 10 is right next to the area dollar theater. I walked in and it was pretty empty on Labor Day. I got a booth and quickly noticed all the large screen TVs lining the wall. The huge booth was comfortable and our waitress brought a Diet Pepsi quickly(Pepsi products, boo) She was super nice and refilled my pop multiple times. I ordered the turkey sub and my buddy got the chili dog. I forgot to sub a salad for french fries, but I did have a few of the fries and they were nice and crispy. Very solid, and I liked how they had mustard and ketchup and Tabasco sauce on the table. The turkey sub came out about 10 minutes later, just the perfect size with wonderful melted cheese and a good amount of turkey, They don’t put too much oil on it, which is good. They put a ton of lettuce on it, every bite is full of it. I really enjoyed everything about this visit. Especially our server was fantastic!

Unfortunately zero stars is not an option. Terrible service! Bad attitudes from the moment we stepped in the front door. I politely asked the hostess if we could be seated in a booth(as it was easier to contain our kids), she was turned around and didn’t seem like she heard, so I mentioned it again, she said ‘I heard you the first time’, then proceeded to seat us in the very back of the restaurant in a booth right next to the kitchen(where we could enjoy a great view of the cooks and all the wonderful smells of their dirty establishment.) We had kids with us, so I understand putting us out of the way, but it was 5pm and the restaurant was completely empty? When we sat down, all the servers were standing in the kitchen gossiping and staring at us. They stood and laughed at us while we tried to maneuver 3 little kids into the booth(fine, whatever, it can be a little comical with 3 kids under 5 yrs old — we know, we live it every day). The final straw was after the hostess seated us and one of the servers said ‘oh boy, I can’t wait for this’ as she walked over to our table(all within ear shot of my wife — who was not impressed.) We ordered our drinks, but couldn’t help but be annoyed and immediately asked for our check, paid and walked out. The best part is that the server helping us was clearly pregnant. Good luck with that… you will soon find out how fun it is to dine out with kids… We ended up walking down the street to Chipotle and ate food there. It’s amazing how much I appreciate their service(and hard work) after being in a place where work ethic is no where to be found. Probably a blessing in disguise that we left Big Ten anyway, Chipotle was half the price and twice the food quality(from what I could see)…
