Tasty 1950s atmosphere :) I got a single cheeseburger and side of chili, both full of flavor. It’s a tiny place, but worth the wait.

Really good burger. Patties are thin, so the triple is only maybe ½ pound, so don’t be intimidated. Not a lot of options, but that’s a good thing. Cheese, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard. Can’t beat this burger in hop town.

There not serving 100% ground beef, sage and sausage is used to stretch the meat. Due to health and religious reason a person can’t have pork? Stop lying to your customers

If you went to Farrell’s and were not already familiar with it, you might wonder what all the hoopla is about. But if you went there in the past and go back now, you get it. Totally. First went around 1969, last went around 2000. Then went back today. The same as it ever was. Burgers from the grill. Chili. Potato chips. Sodas in the can. Pie.

How can you resist driving past this place? The sign looks straight out a 40’s film noir. If you are expecting old-timey, you won’t be disappointed when you go inside. Be prepared to wait – possibly for awhile. The burger itself is good. Nothing to write home about, but solid. This is a great place to stop for lunch. Bring cash!

I grew up going to Ferrell’s in Henderson and I use to eat at Ferrell’s all the time when I lived in Hopkinsville — the Henderson Ferrell’s is long gone but Hopkinsville is still alive and kicking on a recent trip back we hit Ferrell’s telling my kid about it. It still had a little of that Ferrell’s flare but it just wasn’t the same as it once was, David Ferrell has died, Big Red has died and it just didn’t taste the same or smell the same as it once did, you use to be able to tell Ferrell Burgers by the smell alone — granted it’s been about a decade but I noticed the prices have more than doubled in that time and food is not the same. Still worth a visit but if you are expecting the classic Ferrell’s of old for get it.

Great burgers! Been eating here since I was 2 years old. Famous cheese burgers and cup of chili makes the day go by!

I couldn’t resist stopping at this place. The sign, the old fashioned lunch counter. I ordered my cheeseburger had to go around the corner to an ATM since they don’t accept credit. When I got back my order was ready(so the service is snappy). I was a bit surprised they don’t offer fries or onion rings, so I had a bag of potato chips with the burger. I should have ordered two because it wasn’t that big. As far as burgers go, it sort of reminded me of a homemade burger with grocery store beef. Nothing special but better than a trip to the golden arches.

Fantastic food! It’s definitely an experience. Like Andie C. said, it’s been run the same way forever. The first time I ate there, I was nervous of no gloves and what may be less than ideal cleanliness practices. Bottom line: great greasy food. They only accept cash. Get the chili and a double cheeseburger! Everyone I know makes this the one place they don’t miss when they are in town!

First of all, no one ever died from eating at Ferrell’s. I don’t think. Keep in mind that this place has been operating the exact same way for almost 100 years… long before there were food handler’s cards to acquire, health department grades given out, and foodies to review eateries. I have never gotten sick from eating these scrumptious burgers — neither have any member of my extensive family who grew up eating the things for the past 6 decades! Unfortunately, none of us live anywhere near Hopkinsville, KY anymore, nor do we visit much since the grandparents and aunts/uncles have died. But if we’re in that part of the country, you best believe we are all piling in a car and getting to Ferrell’s for some burgers! If you’re not into greasy, straight-up/plain food with no frills — don’t come. If you can’t even appreciate that kind of food anymore in this society of ours — get over yourself. Do Hop-town a favor and go somewhere in Nashville and order a friggin brushcetta boca burger.. Every few years when I make it back that way, I find that Ferrell’s has not changed, thank god. The uniforms, the sassy people who may or may not hate their jobs, but at least they have one. The green. The stools. The grease. The pecan pie. The rhythmic sound of the lady standing over that hot grill all damn day — slap, slap, slap, scrape, bun, plate. Do you even know that there are a couple«extra» seats in the back if you ask — around by the back door, through the storage closet/office? Do you know why? Because it was the«colored section» back in the day! Seriously! Name me a restaurant with such a wacky history. You can’t, can you? Do you know about the hot dog? Is it still not even on the menu? They split it, grill it, and throw it on some regular bread, no hot dog buns. Why is it so good? Relax. Appreciate the good olé days. Lighten up. Get some grease in ya. Really, it speaks volumes to the«cultural experience» of Hopkinsville, KY. Best. Burgers. EVER. Love you, Ferrell’s. Keep it real.

The is the best Hamburger stand is in Hopkinsville, KY and possibly in the USA and this is my quest to find the best tasting hamburger. Ferrell’s is a dream come true to any Hamburger afficinado. This little dive is named Ferrell’s in the main part of town that started in 1929, 7 stools mounted to the floor, green tile work. The employees are in original period uniforms what a cool vibe. Ferrell’s is open 24 hours a day and with 3 locations, original 1929 look and feel also the 90 year old owner is still alive, and taking you money as you leave. Wendy’s, White Castel everyone out there that tries to make a living in the food business close you door and go get the best Hamburger. All info is copyrighted and the property of Blair Morgan 2009
