We arrived at around 1am and I have never had such a warm, welcoming, and VERY alert person check us in anywhere else at that hour. She was friendly and helpful(I wish I had caught her name)! Our room was clean and huge! Which was nice because we brought our pups! Who stayed free! Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way from Baton Rouge to Gatlinburg in December 2013. We decided to stop for a day trip to Memphis along the way. We chose to stay here because it was close enough to Memphis without actually staying in Memphis. We had a great stay! The staff were very friendly upon check in and we had no issues. Our room was very nice and looked and smelled clean. The front desk called us to let us know that they were having a small event in the lobby which included complimentary nachos, some other snacks and drinks, including beer. We went down and hand some snacks and enjoyed the refreshments. We also hit the hot tub a little later. The indoor pool/hot tub area also looked and smelled very clean. We had a good night’s sleep in a very comfortable bed. We also hit the complimentary breakfast bar the following morning. They offered scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles(a waffle iron and batter, DIY), juice, milk, coffee; etc. Check out was as easy and stress free as check in. We had a very pleasant stay and were very satisfied with the service and accommodations.

It’s already difficult to find a clean hotel in a safe location anywhere near Memphis, but I went with this hotel because of its decent reviews on a hotel reservations site. And, La Quinta is a chain hotel, so there has to be some sort of consistency to keep them expanding. This hotel is not very close to Beale St., or downtown Memphis for that matter. It’s about a 20 minute drive. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning in case you need to know. Anyway, it smells funny here. The employees are not too friendly at first, but they warm up a bit later. Breakfast is free, and it’s decent with the typical oatmeal, coffee, waffle/pancake maker, toast, fruit, etc. etc. Usually I don’t like to eat breakfast at hotels because I’m on a trip to explore the city and try their own food spots, but it was pouring rain and extremely windy the morning after getting there and no time to explore much.(Just needed a place to sleep that night before getting back on the road again) One star because of two words: Bed bugs. I always inspect my bed at a hotel. About to get into bed and saw one on my pillow! Tossed the pillow across the room in hysteria, only to see another one on the bed, too. Called the front desk to ask to have my room changed. The lady was VERY nice and accomodating and switched the room right away, but I can’t give them two stars even for that. I would never stay here again or recommend it, either. I research a lot before traveling, and my top two«must-haves» for a hotel are 1. Very clean. 2. Safe neighborhood. All I do is sleep and shower, and I don’t expect anything fancy. Bed bugs are a huge fear of mine… aside from chewing up your skin, those suckers will travel back home with you and are very difficult to get rid of. The new room didn’t appear to have any bed bugs, but it doesn’t matter. Kind of along the lines of… once a cheater, always a cheater…
