Stay away from Gateway Funding(eRates Mortgage). They have a great rating on , but don’t use them. I was going to refinance with Gateway Funding and completed all of the paperwork. When I read through their final contract, I noticed they altered my refi from no-cash to cash-out, directing $ 5000 back to them. Along with that, they charged $ 410 for an appraisal that never occurred, and when I called them on these issues, they stopped returning my calls and emails. Instead of Gateway, I used Northpointe Bank, and they were awesome. UPDATE: Gateway contacted me within minutes of posting this. I really would have appreciated that speed in service when I asked them to remove the bogus $ 410 charge instead of having to work with my credit card company to reverse their charge.

Vince and the entire team at Gateway Funding are the best. They made the entire process a breeze. I am very happy that I went with them for my mortgage needs. Vince was always on top of things and made sure everything went smoothly. The most important thing to me is that Vince took the time to explain everything to me in detail and made sure I understood everything before I made any decisions or signed anything. I would definitely recommend Vince and Gateway to all of my friends and family.

Jay’s customer service is excellent! He made sure to answer every question for the clients. He is upfront about all of the fees. I heard about Jay because so many people in the area use him, and he is very excellent. He makes sure to handle any problem that arises. I would absolutely refer Jay.

Stay away from this company! I had to push my closing date back two times, which could have costed me my house had the seller not agreed to the revised timelines. Finally the day of the scheduled closing came. It was a Friday and I was planning to move over the weekend. Unfortunately, it turned out that their closing dept. that does the paperwork to fund the loan is staffed by overworked sweatshop workers. They were so backed up that they couldn’t get the paperwork done that day, and I had to push the closing back to Monday, putting a big dent in my moving plans — not to mention the huge disappointment of not becoming a homeowner on the big day! It was extremely frustrating. To compound that, they double charged me for the appraisal. I paid for the appraisal on my credit card and they charged me again at closing. No problem, they said, we’ll just refund your credit card. Two months go by with no refund. No problem, they said, we’ll mail you a check. Several months again go by. I contact them again and now they want paperwork proving I had been double charged. I send in the paperwork and still don’t get a check. Finally after I threatened to take them to small claims court and file a case with the BBB they got their act together and refunded my money. After all of that, my loan officer had the nerve to say«I hope this accounting mix-up doesn’t prevent you from referring your friends to us.» I have been warning anyone who will listen to stay away from this company. The whole process was an absolute nightmare.
