We had an hour to wait for the duck tour so we wandered into Ginger’s Popcorn Shop. My son loves popcorn and eats it every chance he gets. They have lots of varieties of popcorn here — some very strange ones such as nacho and pizza. We decided to play it safe and ordered a medium kettle corn. We got medium because this flavor did not come in a small. It was the worst kettle corn we have had. It was yellow like butter popcorn and had a thick coating of sugar almost like a caramel popcorn, but not so thick. And worst of all, it was cold and stale. After tasting it, we threw away the entire bag.

I had the pleasure and opportunity to shop and meet the owner of Gingers Popcorn, Joe Cobb. He was a pleasant, generous man with great history! The popcorn was wonderful, yes they were in white plastic containers but the popcorn was still fresh with a burst of flavor. I had the Green Candy Apple, Cajun and the Cheddar!!!
If your ever in HOT SPRINGS, AR make that a TODO on your list!!!
BTW, Mr Cobb the owner is a worldwide legend!!! He is the voice that says… Soooul Traaaainnn… Yes, he worked at the radio station in Chicago with the Legendary Don Cornilus (R.I.P.) and when Don and Clarence started Soul Train,
Don asked Joe for his voice… Just made my 1st time experience 100xs better… I grew up under the sound of his voice.

Wow these people pushed hard for a sale. The lady kept asking us if we wanted large bags of everything in the store. I know she was kidding, but she was definitely trying to milk it.
I wonder if she pushed because they have so many flavors all in giant, white tubs. And if it’s not sold, then it becomes stale. So they give you three free samples. By the time we tried the third, we felt bad not buying. Ah, the hook. Now all she’s gotta do is reel in the sale.
And she did. We bought a small bag of bacon cheddar popcorn for close to $ 4. The popcorn was definitely interesting– you don’t have bacon popcorn often, but it didn’t taste «fresh popped» or anything. And we left feeling like we’d been jipped.
